Thanks to this video I was able to fix my truck. Mine would crank over as well and only turn on with starting fluid. Then started dying at idle. But if I set the idle like 250rpm higher, it would stay on. My mechanics and I thought it was a weak fuel pump. Couldn’t find a new crank sensor, so got a used one from the junk yard. Cut an 11/16 just like yours. And swapped it out. Then truck turn right on after that. I’ll be returning the fuel pump, and not wasting $1000. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge
Once you did the investment on putting a new fuel pump, you should also replace your fuel hoses and return lines that goes to the back of your fill tanks. Probably dirt or pieces of rubber from your hoses clogged your check valves it’ll help with performance and also starting performance.
I recently bought a 1996 international eagle, the guy said that it was sitting for a while. It has a N14 Cummings red top. Thanks for this video i know where to start if she don't fire up
Thank you for this video. Im having the same problem. 2003 International 9100 I I have changed the cam position sensor about five times in the last 13 years that I have owned the truck normally I will get a fault code when it goes bad but this time I did not and I was about to change the fuel pump for $1,000 thanks to you my friend I don't have to do that
25 psi instant upon crank. 150 psi running. Fuel pump only provides flow to heads. Check valve in ecm plate, pull jic tip off, stretch spring clean check valve, put back in. Also make sure 2 positives and one ecm wires come off only one of 4 batteries. Always. Yup cam sensor it keeps wearing tip is a problem
@@anthonycary947 if you have 4 batteries, always make sure ecm pos and negative comes off one battery. Otherwise you can have mystery voltage spikes and inactive codes. Had a fleet of 30 n14s. Bulket proof engine but that was the first gremlins from brand new. Once I learnt that got rid of weird little pop ups and erratic running.
My sister had a Mazda she got the timing chain replaced, after a week the car died on her. We thought it was the fuel pump also, changed it still wouldn’t start…come to find out when the shop put the timing cover back on..they pinched the wires, got one from the junk yard put it on,car fired right up
I have a n-14 Cummings in a 1998 international I have fuel leaking from the shut down valve I have to hold the start engine button and hit the gas to make the truck crank up would that be because my fuel pump going bad ?
A theirs a guy out of Ontario California he rebuilds Cummins 855 and n14 injector pumps for half the price you paid and he sends you a free return shipping label

I’m glad it all worked out. God bless you.
Fuse on ecm could be blown which let's no power to fuel solenoid shut off switch
I’m going to try this for sure! Same problem

Thank you. Gotta a 99 Muni bus (SF) that I'm converting & I thought it was the filter/primer. You da man!
The N 14 select plus is my favorite !!
Excellent video and perfect explanation 👍
Great papa Gracias 👍
Nice video I was having trouble with an N14 it turned out to be the fuel shutoff solenoid.
I’m glad you were able to figure it out
I’ve done the same in the past! I always say: man I wish I would’ve started with the $60 part 😂
I know. The pump was super expensive. 😂😂
Thanks so much mine was doing the same thing...
Very good master
Ayala gracias ,por la informacion
.008 - .012 end play on the 3 bolt camshaft cover . Camshaft has to be tapped back towards bell housing before checking end play .
I always carry a spare crank sensor in my truck. Cheap insurance. I found I have to change it about 200,000 miles.
It’s looking like I may have to change mine again soon.
Pa lante 👍

Ahh makes sense. Thanks, this is the first N14 I have been around so I am just learning.
Hey but you have new parts 😂 and the truck is running
Great

Replace solenoid. It’s fairly cheap.
Very helpful..Did truck give you a code?? And what code?
I never checked for codes. Just the engine light.
Thats the first thing I changed but it didn't help.. gonna check that check valve next..

Name of shop or address?
Where are you ordering your sensor from? Having a hard time finding one. Do you have a particular number?
I don’t have the part number . Call Tri State Kenworth in Enfield CT. They will help you.

There is no “g” in “CUMMINS” …
There is no g in Cummins.
It's "CUMMINS" not "CUMMINGS" dammit!
That's mechanical n 14 if I'm not mistaken

I thought it was Cummapart.
