    WOW Joe absolutely BEAUTIFUL cacti blooms and so many SUPERBLOOMS on them, you have so many different stunning varieties of cacti blooms that have bloomed in July, they are all so incredibly beautiful, this video was so amazing and relaxing and the PERFECT botanical meditation, the weather in Ireland has been really awful for July, rain every single day and dark clouds and not much sun, so many of our cacti have dropped their buds or only half opening them, absolutely incredibly beautiful video Joe, and thanks so much for sharing the beauty with us, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and CACTUS FLOWER POWER to Bavaria for a blooming amazing new week ahead XXXX

    • @cactusjoe
      @cactusjoe  Год назад +1

      Oh no, Lyn, I am so sorry to read about the poor July weather you have been having in Ireland too, that is very unfortunate and indeed I know from summers where we have had weather like that, that our cacti do not really appreciate it and often are not happy to develop their flowers, sadly. So sorry about that! But hopefully the weather improves now, and that you get lot's of sunshine and warmer temperatures, i.e. a much, much better August with lot's of blooms your end too! I am very happy that you enjoyed the video and also of course thank you so much for watching and commenting, that's all as always really appreciated! Sending you and Hans the very best wishes for warmer, sunnier weather and lot's of cactus blooms ahead, take care and happy growing of course! Cactus Flower Power from Bavaria to you both on the beautiful Emerald Isle my friends!

      @cactusjoe  Год назад +1

      Thank you Gary, that is wonderful to hear and it sounds like you are steadily building a great collection of cacti yourself, which is fantastic! Yes indeed, with some cacti the flowers actually become bigger on days 2 and 3 of their blooms, but mostly the size of flowers will be the same, no matter whether the plant is very young with a first bloom, or very mature many years later. Cheers, have a great day!

Yeah indeed, I have heard from others in the UK too that the weather there during July has unfortunately not been the greatest this year, so sorry to hear also that many of the flowers and buds as a result just have not been developing or opening as they normally would. Keeping my fingers crossed that August finally brings sunnier and warmer weather for you and that you can still experience many of your flowering cacti! • @cactusjoe
      @cactusjoe  Год назад

      Thanks so much, Bill, and indeed I totally agree, especially in the family of Cactaceae there has been an unbelievable proliferation of names, linked to classifications and re-classifications, etc., etc. over the past 150+ years! That unfortunately often leaves hobbyists and collectors completely dazed and confused, haha! So at times, it simply helps to just enjoy the beauty of the plants and their blooms without focussing too much on their taxonomic classification and latest name, lol! Have an awesome Sunday and week ahead, best wishes and happy growing my friend!

We now have been getting rain. Today it has rained most of the day, thank goodness!! With all the watering we were doing, we were scared of running our well dry!! And we can't survive without that.the only bad thing is starting tomorrow, the heat is on again, forecast is for 100°. With the humidity, the heat I dex goes up to 105° F for about the next 3 days!!! I forgot to mention that the conditions here in Ohio, USA must be perfect because every time I go out to my little greenhouse something else is blooming and many of them are a complete surprise. I did have a very lime green bloom on my Eriosyce islayensis that got quite a response from the British Cactus society FB page. I thought the flowers on my Thelocactus bicolor were solid purple until I went back and checked my photo after seeing yours. And. of course, it wouldn't be a bicolor without the red flower centers. My bicolor cactus seems to have extra long spines though. A lot of my cacti are on their second wave of blooming and many of the gymnocalyciums have been in flower since the beginning of the growing season. I did get a seed pod on my ragonesei, but I just dumped the seeds into the pot it is in not expecting anything to sprout. I recently enjoyed the yellow flowers on Parodia ottonis, but the very golden ones on rebutia arenacea are a knockout. I take a photo every time I see a new cactus bloom so I can create a library. Now all I have to do is sync them to music. Zzzzzzzzzz
