Samsung S20 FE 5g would have to be my pick based on your review. Although I already bought the OnePlus 8T aquamarine one with 12gb RAM/256 ROM. It was on sale in US @ $599 & free case/screen protector. I couldn't resist... 😊 Now 10/21 it's on sale for $499, what a bargain still. I'm helping my adult son find a phone now and he doesn't want to spend more than $500. He has a Samsung Note 8 (with a shattered screen lol), anyways so he got sticker shock when he looked at his carrier and flagships are over $1,000 US. He freaked out and needs mom to find a deal for him. Even this late into 2021 I think the S20 FE 5g may be the one for him. Prices down now ($599 & will get money off for trade-in), and still a very good phone, better than the Samsung A lineup from this year I think. Do you agree Chris? I'd say OnePlus but he works in construction & I see that all glass phone, even with a good case etc. getting shattered Lol. Any advice you have is definitely welcomed. THANKS FOR AN AWESOME REVIEW AS ALWAYS!!🥂
Thanks for this comparison, came here after watching the Tech Chap's video. Just want to make a correction that the Google Pixel 5 also has an IP68 rating, not an IPX8!
he said battery longevity. over the years. (he's just assuming because of the 65W charging, but the pixel gets hotter than the op8t in charging so I don't think he has a valid point there)
Great Video! Since I need a good battery, a small smartphone ,a good camera and I don't do selfies and don't do face recognition it seems that the pixel is built for me, thanks :)
I would like to see more smaller phones like the pixel. There are to many big phones. Maybe this will change when the iPhone 12 mini will be a big success
I go for the Samsung FE, being a Samsung Galaxy S8 user. Chris you pointed out the dual sim capability, which I want. Yes the Samsung may not have Android 11 out of the box, but hopefully along with the rest of the S20/Note 20 range, it will get 3 years of updates, plus a further 2 years of security updates. My S8 is still getting updates even though it is stuck on Android 9. The One Plus loses in the camera department. Google Pixel is good. Great comparison review.
@huso0w7 good for you but for me i need the most feature. Like IP68 and good camera since i dont gaming on phone as long it have good screen speaker and camera im good to go
@huso0w7 I owned a: a. Galaxy Young (for a short time, borrowed from my Mom) then bought a second-hand b. iPhone 3G which is a bad experience (not user-friendly, can't customize even if its jailbroken already. Then c. S3 Mini (submerged into water because i forgot that i left it in my shorts) d. S6 Edge e. iPhone 7 f. S8 Plus **just like you. I'm planning to buy a smartphone that's worth the price. And i'm thinking about getting the 8 Pro , 8T 5G , or Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro. What do you think is the best for gaming?
@@MewAesthetic well you need to set your price range first. the 8 pro is still more expensive than the 8t. currently the 8t and the S20 FE 5G have similar prices (at least here in France) and since these two have the same processor (snapdragon) and the same gpu, they are pretty good at gaming. If you don't care about wireless charging, IP68 and other "flagshippy" features that the FE offers then your comparaison points between these two are camera and charging: The FE has a better camera overall but slower charging while the 8t has a very fast charging but with "decent" quality photos. I'm thinking of getting the S20 FE 5G. It will run games smoothly (like Pubg) and it will provide a very satisfying image quality. I had the oneplus 5t so changing won't be that bad of an idea i guess. I still believe that the OP 8t won't disappoint.
I got the fe for $599 and I'm happy as hell. The pics, video, screen, speakers are all top notch. With the money I saved I bought a 25w fast charger for $14 on Amazon. Perfect
So I ended up picking up the Samsung s20 fe after my Google Pixel 2 XL was paid off through Verizon. I really liked the Pixel 2 XL and was strongly considering the Pixel 5 or even the Pixel 4a 5G when it comes out. Best Buy had the s20 fe for $500 on a 2 yr plan through Verizon and ultimately that was too good of bargain for me to pass up. After three days of using it here are my thoughts. Overall it's a great phone and definitely a steal in terms of the hardware at the price I got. The screen/picture are great and I've been really happy with the battery life so far. It's fast and smooth and ultimately I'm happy with the purchase and think it's going to be a great phone. I've played some games, watched videos, listened to music, taken several pictures, and done my regular texting and social media. No major problems to report. Coming off the Pixel 2 XL there are some things I liked better on my old Pixel. First, I miss the rear fingerprint unlock. It's not that the front screen finger sensor doesn't work on the Samsung, but I felt like the back sensor on the Pixel was a little faster and a little more natural to find. Second, I use lots of folders on my home screen and when I would open them on the Pixel the folder basically opens right over the folder icon, but on the Samsung it fills the entire screen when it opens and the app icons are at the top of the screen. With it being a large phone, that makes it a long reach to get to the app you want if you are using the phone one handed. Finally, I don't care for the built in filter on the selfie camera that makes you look kind of "smoothed out". It would be fine if it was optional, but there's no way to turn it off. None of those things are a deal breaker for me, just things I liked a little better on my old Pixel, but thought I'd share in case any of those things would be a big factor for you. Finally, I know there are some reports out there about some people having screen response issues with the s20 fe. I was a little worried when I first started using the phone that I may have the same problem as it seemed a little unresponsive when I was first using it. However, under settings and display there is an option to turn on "touch sensitivity" that is intended for use with screen protectors and as soon as I turned that feature on I haven't had any problems.
I ordered the S20 FE before the others were even announced 😆. I'm loving the red color and the phone overall. Although next time I would probably wait until all new phones are released and reviewed before making the jump. But I do not regret my purchase decision at all. I recommend the S20 FE to anyone.
@Niralok It's a pretty close decision here. Oneplus 8t for the specs. More ram will probably help it last longer than the S20 FE. It also is launching with Android 11 out of the box. Which means it will get up to Android 14. (Since the S20 FE launched with Android 10, it will only get up to Android 13) One the other hand. The S20 FE has wireless charging and IP rating. Making it closer to a full flagship. Camera results are subjective. I think both are good for the price. It's really a though call man. I think you'll be happy with either one!

11:33 I'm confused. Did you misspeak here? You said 10hrs of playback time for 8T. Isn't that better? Why did you say the battery longevity isn't impressive if it last long for single charge?
@@Shane-zo4mg because it's 65w changing compared to 18w, more charging speeds means more heat, more heat means more harm to the battery, but that doesn't mean you will notice it soon, OnePlus promised that even after 800 charge cycles the battery will be at 90% capacity meaning that's very good battery health. Great Comparisons! I grabbed the pixel5 man that camera is🔥 Nice to see the video on the 5 has gotten a good bit better The other devices are nice as well I just prefer Google's implementation 👍💪
Who told you? It's not 2017. You can't unlock your phone by just a picture or video now a days. Atleast I have tried in my phone and it didn't unlock a single time.
@@kurtblackwell7752 I mean not as secure as iphone obviously but still it didn't unlock using my photo or video and I also have the option to only unlock when my eyes are open which the pixel 4 lacks. I have an in display fingerprint so I don't use it very often.
I know Google probably wanted to avoid any stupid headlines, but they could at least have given us this option. Give a big warning that it is not secure, don't allow it for unlocking private things like Bank Account Apps or Play Store Purchases and that would be good. Simply allow Face Unlock to unlock your phone, that's it.
If you’re in the uk go fro the pixel 5 you can’t go wrong with 90hz, great battery, nice display, good brightness,ip68 waterproof, wireless charging, aluminium build quality, easily fast enough for everyday tasks and if you’re not too fussed about the hype of mobile gaming 😂, arguably the best camera on any smartphone all of that plus £200+ Bose headphones! That are awesome. You can’t go wrong
Got £500-600 to spend on a phone, I think the Pixel 5 is out the question as I want a bigger screen, but can't seem to decide between the others, with the Motorola Edge also coming into the mix. Worth trying to get the Oneplus 8 pro within that budget? Your videos are excellent by the way.
I appreciate your side-by-side-by-side comparison style. I had to rewind because the information was steadily coming. I was confused regarding battery life. Other reviewers have the Oneplus 8t over the Samsung S20 fe. Can you kindly explain your reasoning?
Confused here.... you say, "oneplus stormed it with 10 hours of video playback" and literally the next sentence you say, "while the oneplus does not impress with it's battery longevity..." Which is it?
i thought that was weird as hell because 6 - 7 hours of video playback is TERRIBLE SOT, like, iPhone SE levels of shit. i think he meant to say 16 - 17 hours on the S20FE and the Pixel 5 and just 10h on the OP8T. for comparison, i get about 15h of Netflix and 13h of RUclips on my K20 Pro (4000mAh).
Are you gonna do a full review for the 4a 5G? I know you did an impressions and a comparison between that and the other two 2020 Pixels but there aren't many 4a 5G reviews on here
Have a Pixel 5 en-route via DPD right now. Watches this to be sure I made the right decision. Still not sure if 8T is better overall. Hope I'm not disappointed replacing my tired Mate 10 Pro. Thanks for the great video.
You will be happy with your choice. I've had the op8 pro and now the Nord. Op 8 series is garbage imo. Better off with a 7 pro. Pixel 5 is a sweet choice. And Samsung software... Meh
The thing I find weird about Pixel 5 is the chipset. My 2.5 years old Oneplus 6 has slightly faster GPU and it was cheaper even back in the day brand new than Pixel 5 is now. Sure the cameras are better on Pixel, but not by that much seriously. All smartphone cameras are so similar nowadays that I find it hard to even care about camera comparisons anymore.
I'm the same, I have a Pixel 5 en route, I began doubting my choice after seeing some negative vibes around the chipset. However, after watching a few reviews, this one has cemented my decision, excellent, real world review, proper lad giving honest feedback. The camera is key for me, the 1P8T was a late contender, however after seeing this info on the P5 being a decent daily driver, I'm sticking with it. I've just subscribed, cracking review 👍🏼
Why do you prefer using "Natural" calibration on all phones and also which phone do you think has the best calibration and/or the most accurate colours while set to natural, as a content creator your input is absolutely essential
@@jacoblam8433 well i have been using Samsung phones for the past 7 yrs. I really like their one ui too. I was going to get s20 plus but fe seemed like a better value for money so i went for the fe
I've already got an import Galaxy S20+ (Snapdragon) but I've been helping my mate choose an upgrade from his Galaxy S8+ and you've confirmed my suggestion of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G model - it was the IP rating and wireless charging which ultimately sold him on it. I'm well impressed with the Pixel 5 though. Cool little phone. All are solid options.
Not at all. To me, a stock Android experience using Nova Prime Launcher is near perfect - clean, quick and customizable all in a light-weight and usable size in the Pixel 5. Only features the Pixel 5 that I find that lacking are the missing headphone jack and lack of storage expansion. Pricing could be a bit better as well ($100 less).
@@TechSpurt I love my Samsung Galaxy s20fe guarantee you the next year's version is going to have a Way brighter display to compete with Apple at 1200 lumens

I love this video! with the oneplus 9 series coming out and the pixel 6 I would love to see a kind of equal to this vid with the new phones if they ever make a s21 fe that would be great to see too!
6 hrs of screen on time with video playback in s20 fe? Did you mean 16 hrs? Cuz 6 hrs is notorious for video playback and samsung has a good reputation in video playback time. Also s20 fe too will get 3 years of os updates and 1 more year of security updates.
I bought the oneplus 8T yesterday Bundle 12RAM 256GB and its arriving tomorrow. Did I make the right choice, I'm not sure, I want a phone that will help me organise my life, I am a busy person, top performance is important. A phone that I can use for work, college and I'm a writer/songwriter on the side, as a hobbie. The video camera and camera are important to me as well. What do you all think? I forgot to mention, a phone that is durable as well long term. What case do you think is good for the Oneplus 8T? There is the Poetic guard, Otterbox etc.. I understand that there aren't any cases for the 8T yet, I think. If I get a bumper case would I need a tempered screen protector?. There is no IP rating on the Oneplus 8T, it looks light in build the oneplus 8T.
It's perfect for college students. I myself am using one and I cannot live without the fast charging feature. I use the ringke fusion on my oneplus 8 which is really good
@techspurt - what would be your recommendation for the best android phone of 2021? I'm due an upgrade and am thinking of the Oppo Find X2 Pro - but dont want to get it and then have something trump it within a couple of months - HELP!
I want to buy a new device? Do you suggest to go with oneplus7t pro or OnePlus 8t ? Price in India - OnePlus 7t pro : 43999 for 256 gb OnePlus 8 : 45999 for 256 gb
I'm using OP7t pro is great phone for games for Everything but I suggest you to buy OP8t cuz he has cool new stuffs like battery life quick charge ...etc go with OnePlus 8t
No IP rating, no optical zoom and poorer camera results is pretty disappointing from oneplus. Bit confused as to why the benchmark scores were slightly lower too, considering its the same chip. I thought that Oxygen OS was suppose to be less of a resource grabbern than samsungs version? Maybe the xperia 5 2 is the way to go!?
As a current OP 7 Pro user I can confidently say it's a no on the 8T for me. The only major advantage it has over the 7 is a flat display imo. Features which I actually value such as wireless charging and IP rating are still left out, yet the Pixel 5 and S20 FE nails all the basics. When the Pixel inevitably gets discounted for the holiday season, it's an easy choice but for the $700 not so much.
The benchmark results are different because the Pixel and OP8T are running android 11 the S20FE is running android10, only distinguishable difference as far as I can see.

Oneplus 8T over any other flagships ( packed with useless features) any day. The only dissapointing thing with the 8t is the camera, hope Oneplus invests more on this.
@@oskarvnzwill the plus version be wireless charging do you think? Agree with the water and dust resistance aspect, that's shit! @@user-nl7vz4wt3t I think they said there won’t be no 8t pro update for the 8 pro. Meaning no water resistance or wireless charging. Might have to wait till next year.
I'm not really sure, it has more ram but it's the cheaper slower, more power hungry and cheaper vs FE LPDDR5x , it lacks IP rating and wireless charging and the camera sensors are frankly embarrassing at it's price point.

Face unlock with a selfie camera is no security at all. Pixel did the right thing by not doing it.
Who told you? It's not 2017. You can't unlock your phone by just a picture or video now a days. Atleast I have tried in my phone and it didn't unlock a single time.
@@sourav7162 which phone would that be? iPhones and the Pixel 4 do have face unlock which uses depth biometrics. Those can be trusted.

Samsung s20FE cloud Red is super cool.
I appreciate your side-by-side-by-side comparison style. I had to rewind because the information was steadily coming. I was confused regarding battery life. Other reviewers have the Oneplus 8t over the Samsung S20 fe. Can you kindly explain your reasoning?
Thank you, just cancelled my OP8T order, will take the Pixel 5, the image differences are so significant (have had OP phones for the past 5 years)

I pick the pixel but anyway i won't get that anytime soon xD

Have a Pixel 5 en-route via DPD right now. Watches this to be sure I made the right decision. Still not sure if 8T is better overall. Hope I'm not disappointed replacing my tired Mate 10 Pro. Thanks for the great video.
Actually watching again decided camera is one of my main priorities (that's why I've held onto Mate 10 pro so long) One plus looked garbage
You will be happy with your choice. I've had the op8 pro and now the Nord. Op 8 series is garbage imo. Better off with a 7 pro.
Pixel 5 is a sweet choice.
And Samsung software... Meh
I got a pixel on route via DPD too..starting to doubt it now but who knows, got to be better than my Huwawei P20 Pro right?
Love this! Can you please do a quick comparison between the xiaomi mi10t pro and the OP8T? They're priced the same in Europe at 599!
How are the camera bumps among those three and which device has the thinnest?

I've already got an import Galaxy S20+ (Snapdragon) but I've been helping my mate choose an upgrade from his Galaxy S8+ and you've confirmed my suggestion of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G model - it was the IP rating and wireless charging which ultimately sold him on it. I'm well impressed with the Pixel 5 though. Cool little phone. All are solid options.
I have a OnePlus 7t .... And just ordered a 8t too

What do you recomand me: Huawei p30 pro or Samsung s20 fe?
I love the google stock android experience. Considering switching to pixel 5 from an iPhone 11. Am I crazy?
No your not... I think coming from an iphone the Pixel 5 is the best option.

Hi Chris! Great vid as usual, Pixel 5 is actually IP68 dust and water resistance!
You are really legend bro, I expect these comparison from all RUclipsrs☺😍
6 hrs of screen on time with video playback in s20 fe? Did you mean 16 hrs? Cuz 6 hrs is notorious for video playback and samsung has a good reputation in video playback time. Also s20 fe too will get 3 years of os updates and 1 more year of security updates.
Which do you suggest better, OnePlus 8 Pro or Samsung S20 FE 5G?
The 8T is on sale for lower than $500 now, is it a good buy still?
I'm here for the anime wallpapers.
Oi same here mate
Yeah maan💯💯💯
As a Oneplus user a can say for sure u will love the the phone
It's perfect for college students. I myself am using one and I cannot live without the fast charging feature. I use the ringke fusion on my oneplus 8 which is really good
@techspurt - what would be your recommendation for the best android phone of 2021? I'm due an upgrade and am thinking of the Oppo Find X2 Pro - but dont want to get it and then have something trump it within a couple of months - HELP!
I want to buy a new device? Do you suggest to go with oneplus7t pro or OnePlus 8t ?
Price in India - OnePlus 7t pro : 43999 for 256 gb
OnePlus 8 : 45999 for 256 gb
oneplus 8 because you will get up to android 14 and oneplus 7 only to 13 or 12
I'm using OP7t pro is great phone for games for Everything but I suggest you to buy OP8t cuz he has cool new stuffs like battery life quick charge ...etc go with OnePlus 8t
Excellent video thanks keep up the good work fella
I hear a lot about _energy efficient._ How are you calculating efficiency?
No IP rating, no optical zoom and poorer camera results is pretty disappointing from oneplus. Bit confused as to why the benchmark scores were slightly lower too, considering its the same chip. I thought that Oxygen OS was suppose to be less of a resource grabbern than samsungs version? Maybe the xperia 5 2 is the way to go!?
Stop nitpicking on those numbers.
Yeah I had really considered the 8T, but it seems to have missed the mark for sure!
The benchmark results are different because the Pixel and OP8T are running android 11 the S20FE is running android10, only distinguishable difference as far as I can see.
Arigatoo Chris. I have been watching you fır mounths now and ı am very grateful to you for your efforts to inform us with the newest technologies. We can only watch these phones on RUclips because of their expensive prices on my country. And even if we have money oneplus and google phones are not available here. So thank yo anyway.
How do the haptics compare?
Oneplus 8T over any other flagships ( packed with useless features) any day. The only dissapointing thing with the 8t is the camera, hope Oneplus invests more on this.
Pixel 5 should have come in at $549. I'm going to buy one but I guess I'll wait for Black Friday for hopefully a deal.
Same!!
Could you please tell me where you got your background image?
ITS an anime from japan
OnePlus 8T price has just dropped from £549 to £499. Pixel 5 is still £599 and the S20 FE 5G £699. I think this makes the decision pretty easy.
8t is 50 dollars extra but has really good internals for the price
But lacks water resistance and wireless/reverse wireless charging.
@@oskarvnzwill the plus version be wireless charging do you think? Agree with the water and dust resistance aspect, that's shit!
As for the camera performance of the 8T, yeah very dissapointed as I rely on the phones for my photography. But maybe using the pro camera option, may make the 8T better than what was shown in this review? Brilliant phone other than that!
@@user-nl7vz4wt3t I think they said there won’t be no 8t pro update for the 8 pro. Meaning no water resistance or wireless charging. Might have to wait till next year.
It’s £50 cheaper than the Pixel in the UK - ended up coming in at £549 rather than £599 - and a whole £150 cheaper than the Snapdragon FE.
I'm not really sure, it has more ram but it's the cheaper slower, more power hungry and cheaper vs FE LPDDR5x , it lacks IP rating and wireless charging and the camera sensors are frankly embarrassing at it's price point.
