  • 7 Days With The OnePlus 8T - It's All CHANGE!
This video is my official unboxing and first impressions review after 1 week of the OnePlud 8T! I look at the metal, and gorilla glass 5 build quality, FHD+ Fluid Amoled 120hz refresh rate display, 4500 mAh battery, 65W Warp charging, quad rear camera, with 48 MP primary, 16MP Ultra-Wide, 5MP Macro and 2MP Monochrome sensor. Wireless and reverse wireless charging as well as an IP68 water and dust resistant rating are not here, but stereo speakers, and up to 12GB ram are! It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip, and with the latest Android 11 with Oxygen OS 11 skin over the top! Is this phone premium or mid-range, and for £549 should you buy it?

I've been an iPhone user for ten years now and have converted many Android users to use Apple but this year, I switched and to a very low budget Android Xiaomi Redmin Note 8 and I am way more than happy with my choice. The thing that apple users don't realize is that they praise how good the "echo system" is which is iOS but they are not aware that Android has improved so much in the past few years and improved a lot faster than iOS so it's not to the point where it's much better than iOS because they addressed most of not all the things they had issues with like lack of apps in the store, security and virus issues, hardware software compatibility and the list goes on. But just like I switched to Apple over a decade ago and was extremely happy with my choice, I've now switched back to android and feel just the same.

One Plus for me was mostly about getting as close to stock android as possible. In a world where so many devices failed to deliver a clean OS experience One Plus was a breath of fresh air and so i became a huge fan. To hear they are moving away from that is sad. To hear a few people say its starting to feel more like Samsung OS is very concerning. Its an odd year - because the Pixel 5 is still not worth an upgrade from my 7pro and as of yet One Plus haven't offered anything that seems worth moving from either.

Brilliant review. Loved the way your presented. Just upgraded from OP5 and must say it is a welcome change. The OP5 still had good chops on it but figured it is likely to become a pain soon enough. 3 days with the handset with some intense gaming and office activity on this. So far the phone has performed well and expected battery drain. Still left with a healthy 20% at the end of the day. I do like the bells and whistles they have added to the stock android. I suppose they will have to tread a fine line here to not overdo this since oxygenOS is what the OP community loves most about this phone. Some decent camera action here. Need a day out to test it thoroughly though, but it promises to be competitive enough. Mind this is just out of the gate so I expect some further tweaks to the camera software in the coming months as they look into the feedback from the community.
Overall, if you want it cheap Nord, middling 8T, got some more money on you I guess 8 Pro still remains a good contender for premium. Like how OnePlus is placing itself.

I've always had Nexus/Pixel Phones and overall I was really satisfied with them, currently I have an Pixel 2XL for almost 2 years and except the battery life I had never problems with it. Even if I was never an owner of a 1+-Device, I was following them since Day 1 and they made a great job with their phones till today, great performance, fast charging, great design and a good battery life. But they are no longer a Flagship-Killer with a price for almost 1000€ here in Germany for the 8Pro. And I have no clue what to do. Stick with my Pixel 2XL and continue with it, even though it runs out with updates, took the older Pixel 4XL as a little Pixel-Fanboy or to give 1+ a try? I want a Premium phone with premium specs and not an midrange average one. I would appreciate any of your experiences you shared with Pixel/OnePlus(did they slow down in their perfomance after a couple of months/years) in the past to help me making a decision.

Not many people talking about the resolution downgrade and how much of a difference it makes compared to even the oneplus 7 pro QHD+ screen resolution. So we moved from a QHD+ screen to a FHD+ screen. I was looking forward to upgrading to this from my 7 pro, but it looks like the 8 pro is probably a better option, although I dislike the curved edges on my 7 pro.

It's the main reason i bought a OP device, the almost stock experience with a few tweaks. I'll definitely not update to Oxygen OS 11, it's a far cry from what OnePlus stood for in terms of quality and overall feel of their stock android, so it's a big NOPE. ( for me Oxygen OS 11 brings nothing intreresting nor useful, i don't mind a better experience instead of optimised one hand usage and AOD's... Overall android 11 is lackluster in terms of actual features so wtf Google... ) Since the 7T is scheduled to get Oxygen OS 12 in 2021/2022, i'd rather wait and watch what android 12 has to offer.
