The pixel in general is supposed to be a minimalist phone... As someone who is a retailer of phones, I'm told to sell it as a minimalist phone with a great camera. It's the basic stripped down version of Android and makes it easy to learn and everything is all connected to the cloud so you never lose anything. Basically everything is based on the software overall not the hardware.

Xiaomi, Poco, Oneplus, etc. all have large phones which is a deal breaker for me. I want to try Pixel 4a but the shop in my country sells it at a +150 usd more than the retail price.
@@n0nchalant39 the problem isn't that they have larger phones. It's that they only have larger phones. They need to start using their profits to develope more handset options. Ideal size would be between 5 to 5.5" and with a battery around 3500 to 4500mAh battery and trying to keep it as lightweight as possible.
Personally I do not understand the appeal of large phones. Like, I can get if 'some' people like them, so 'some' phones should be monstrosities, but the fact it's become the norm for Android is just baffling to me.

I totally agree. There are other reasons, but I think this is a large reason that people all want iPhones and Galaxy S/Note phones. American customs even mistook OnePlus's wireless earphones as AirPods clones and convescated them. OnePlus had to work with American authorities to get them released.

Don't worry, it's a decent enough phone. It's also a little cheaper than the 8T. In the end it depends on your personal preferences. I myself picked the OnePlus 7t pro, since I'm a sucker for new and innovative ways to get as big of a screen as possible. I got my mom the pixel 5 since she prefers smaller phones and I enjoy fiddling around with it myself.
If it makes you feel any better I moved from a 3xl to 5. I regret everything except the battery life. I wanted a slightly smaller phone, but this one is tiny in my opinion.

I got my 8T yesterday. It's amazing. I'm using my 6T to watch this video as the 8T downloads apps. 😃 7:45 after using for 2 months I can say that the software issues on the camera are fixed with a stable GCam and decent config. OnePlus still comes out on top
Nice Ive been an iphone user since i first got a smartphone and i recently decided to switch to OnePlus 8T cuz i was tired of the expensive prices of apple products and I'm really happy with the speed and the 5G the charging speed and etc highly recommend!!
Arun: You literally praised Apple for their new iPhones for 10 minutes straight. They are shipping $1,000 smartphones and they won't even put a 90 hz refresh rate into them. They don't release battery numbers. They claim they care about the environment by eliminating charging bricks, but then they are sending a cord that doesn't work with any older Apple charging bricks! (minus the iPhone 11 Pro). I think you said they kept the same starting price, but that's for the MINI. They used the mini as a shield to make the price higher on their regular iPhone 12. But Google? They aren't even competitive. Why? They have wireless charging (OnePlus 8t does not) water resistant certification (One Plus does not) they reverse wireless charge earbuds (OnePlus does not) and they have FAR better software and far better cameras than OnePlus. So why are you so hesitant to praise Google? Not everyone wants a 7 inch monster phone. Some of us would prefer to use a phone with one hand. Why can't we just praise google for improving nearly everything about their Pixel 5, and getting rid of all the crap we hated from the Pixel 4?

Well this doesn't apply here . The camera is great but now fails to be two steps ahead like it was before due to its hardware . Had it been a better sensor , the camera could have been way better making it a reason to buy it over oneplus but as arun said they are pretty close . Still the pixel pulls ahead but not by that margin to consider it a reason to buy it over oneplus .
Not that there's something very wrong with going with something tried and tested, but evolution is pretty important too, that's how you can get cheaper phones with pretty amazing hardware compared to a few years ago. The pixel 5 isn't particularly cheap so there could've been better hardware maybe
Yeah, a lot of companies actually do this, and the camera improvements come with processor improvements and software. I believe Apple and Samsung also try to use the same sensors as much as possible

the best part about entire OnePlus event was all the digs he took at Apple , especially the one where he said we are giving the charging brick .. *FOR FREE.* Honestly , OnePlus 8T seems damn awesome , loved it. The Always-on display is simply impressive , genuinely excited to check that out.
You know I'm not rich, but I have bluetooth earbuds ... bluetooth speakers in my lounge and bedroom, and both my TVs support streaming music from my phone wirelessly as well... I keep a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in my backpack and can't remember the last time I needed to crack it out ... I'm glad I didn't let the headphone jack affect my purchasing decision too much at this point.

I wish there would be one company who would go ALL OUT at producing the best phone we have seen. Pixel camera, iOS + stock Android expirience, Samsung screen with no noch or punch hole + 120fps, 4500mAh battery, waterproof, under display fingerprint scanner, OnePlus unboxing expirience... I wouldn't mind a 1000 dollar price tag for such thing. (Maybe a little) I know it's a fairly tale haha, let me enjoy my imagination. 😂
A great comparison, definitely shows the superiority of the OnePlus 8T (IMO) I felt you missed a couple things: The flat instead of curved screen, you talked about it as if to imply it's a drawback. I hate the curved screens, they distort the image. So for me (and many others) that's a positive, not a negative. Also the Glossy Finish, in the release earlier today they talk about having both a glossy and a matte version, so it's not really a drawback if the customer gets to choose. Thoughts?

to be fair, the fingerprint scanner on the back of the pixel is arguably quicker and in a more natural location for your index finger as you pick up the phone. plus the affordance of the circular indent is a nice...touch (yup, you hate me right now lol)
i personaly think an fingerprint reader anbadet in the power button is the best location for a powerbuton period. all gestures would still work and its much easier to reach while on a table or while having it in an stand inside a car.

Ideal size would be between 5 to 5.5" and with a battery around 3500 to 4500mAh battery and trying to keep it as lightweight as possible.

I totally agree. There are other reasons, but I think this is a large reason that people all want iPhones and Galaxy S/Note phones. American customs even mistook OnePlus's wireless earphones as AirPods clones and convescated them. OnePlus had to work with American authorities to get them released.

Don't worry, it's a decent enough phone. It's also a little cheaper than the 8T.
In the end it depends on your personal preferences.
I myself picked the OnePlus 7t pro, since I'm a sucker for new and innovative ways to get as big of a screen as possible.
I got my mom the pixel 5 since she prefers smaller phones and I enjoy fiddling around with it myself.
If it makes you feel any better I moved from a 3xl to 5. I regret everything except the battery life. I wanted a slightly smaller phone, but this one is tiny in my opinion.

Arun: You literally praised Apple for their new iPhones for 10 minutes straight. They are shipping $1,000 smartphones and they won't even put a 90 hz refresh rate into them. They don't release battery numbers. They claim they care about the environment by eliminating charging bricks, but then they are sending a cord that doesn't work with any older Apple charging bricks! (minus the iPhone 11 Pro). I think you said they kept the same starting price, but that's for the MINI. They used the mini as a shield to make the price higher on their regular iPhone 12.
But Google? They aren't even competitive. Why? They have wireless charging (OnePlus 8t does not) water resistant certification (One Plus does not) they reverse wireless charge earbuds (OnePlus does not) and they have FAR better software and far better cameras than OnePlus.
So why are you so hesitant to praise Google? Not everyone wants a 7 inch monster phone. Some of us would prefer to use a phone with one hand. Why can't we just praise google for improving nearly everything about their Pixel 5, and getting rid of all the crap we hated from the Pixel 4?

Well this doesn't apply here . The camera is great but now fails to be two steps ahead like it was before due to its hardware . Had it been a better sensor , the camera could have been way better making it a reason to buy it over oneplus but as arun said they are pretty close . Still the pixel pulls ahead but not by that margin to consider it a reason to buy it over oneplus .
Not that there's something very wrong with going with something tried and tested, but evolution is pretty important too, that's how you can get cheaper phones with pretty amazing hardware compared to a few years ago. The pixel 5 isn't particularly cheap so there could've been better hardware maybe

Yeah, a lot of companies actually do this, and the camera improvements come with processor improvements and software. I believe Apple and Samsung also try to use the same sensors as much as possible

I'm glad I didn't let the headphone jack affect my purchasing decision too much at this point.

I recently switched from the Pixel 4A to the Galaxy A52 5G and as much as I like the size, design, and screen on the A52 5G I'll miss the lightness, speed, and camera on my 4A. ☹️
In Canada the pixel 5 is 400 dollars cheaper then the 8t. Honestly, the 3 years of updates at a cheaper price is what's making me choose the Pixel 5.
And the s20 FE is nearly $1000 at $979. I'm getting the 4a5G because I want the headphones jack. I'm coming from the 3a XL. All I wanted on my phone is 128gb and a wide angle and the 4a5G aka 4a XL checks my boxes

I felt you missed a couple things: The flat instead of curved screen, you talked about it as if to imply it's a drawback. I hate the curved screens, they distort the image. So for me (and many others) that's a positive, not a negative.
Also the Glossy Finish, in the release earlier today they talk about having both a glossy and a matte version, so it's not really a drawback if the customer gets to choose.

to be fair, the fingerprint scanner on the back of the pixel is arguably quicker and in a more natural location for your index finger as you pick up the phone. plus the affordance of the circular indent is a nice...touch (yup, you hate me right now lol)
i personaly think an fingerprint reader anbadet in the power button is the best location for a powerbuton period. all gestures would still work and its much easier to reach while on a table or while having it in an stand inside a car.
