Brilliant video, many thanks. Made me make up my phone for getting 2 S20FE's for the wife and I. Key factors I got from this vid: S20 FE bigger screen, bigger battery and much better battery life, comes with 15W charger S21 none, better selfie camera, has Micro SD card, whilst S21 does NOT. CHEAPER!

@@GloriousChickenYT cool, thank you! but then those two have the same peak brightness on manual setting, and the s21 only ever gets brighter than the s20fe under bright conditions when it's set on adaptive brightness?
So glad someone else feels that, I'm upgrading from the s10e since samsung is offering a heck of a buyback for that phone, and the fe was a consideration but the s21 just looks beautiful with both the camera bump and the small bezels

Went with the S21 in the US via T-Mobile. The 256 version was $849 and they gave me $800 trade in value for my old S9+. No brainer for me based on only $49 out of pocket.
@@ChevelleRocks88 Late to the party but this sounds like a subsidized purchase, not a trade-in. Is the phone unlocked or did you have to sign a contract withT-Mobile to get this deal?
I chose to throw in a tab s7 for an extra $196 after samsung discounts/credits and coupon codes. I'll be happy enough with the S21 for the great deal on it with trade-in and credits, and a bonus that it's unlocked so no carrier nonsense controlling me lol.
Thank you for the comparison. I have been needing a new phone for awhile. So researching which of these were better. I honestly see them as the same but the 21 has a better camera that's all. So, I'm going to be getting the S20 FE 5G.

Excellent video. My wife actually swapped her old S9 plus a couple of months ago for S20FE and loves. We managed to get a Samsung Store and she had a look at S21 and is glad she didn't wait. She likes making videos and was very unimpressed with no SD card slot. She also liked her bigger screen on the FE.......and weirdly, the S20FE audio for some reason sounds a lot clearer than the S21, which surprised me. I think the FE is the better one of the two.
Ofcourse the S20 FE 5G model! Recently bought it and its too awesome! Not much noticeable differences in both in actual life considering the extra premium of S21! Good one Samsung!
Both great phones and I think the main differnce is the overall phone size. S21 is compact, people who like compact phones (like me) will prefer the S21 obviously.
@@CrisCheese_ the s20 also had abysmal battery performance with the exynos, which I returned after a week. Im using a pixel 5 which has absolutely bonkers battery.
@@lockhandel Dave and alot of the reviewers are most likely using the snapdragon variant available in the US/Canada and Korea/China which is MUCH more power efficient and less prone to overheating than the Exynos version the UK/international version uses.
LOVED this video....great comparison and stats. It's a year later and I just updated from the S7 edge to the S20 FE 5G and was perusing videos on here with reviews. It definitely seems like I'll enjoy the features of the S20 FE more than the S21....it was the cheaper option of course and anything will be an improvement over a phone I've had for 6 years, so I'm very excited to get this in my hands in a few days. I'm hoping the reviews on the Verizon website are just repeat reviewers trying to bring down the rating, because it has 3 stars or less on there while the S21 has 4.5 stars. Of course I'm not going to take into account people whining because they dropped their phone on the concrete floor, or because it doesn't have a pulse sensor, or because it doesn't have a headphone jack, or that Verizon's service is too expensive....all of which were negative reviews on their site. But yea, thanks for making this video. I was down to one of the newer Galaxy phones and based on this review/comparison I think I'll be happy with my choice!.....also, I liked and subscribed for ya :)
Thank for a full and detailed review. These are too rare... Currently rocking the s8. Getting a new phone on a deal. The S20 Fun Edition 5G seems by far the best bet for me.
I'm still using an S8 :) my issue is that the S20 FE 5G is $799 and the S21 5G is $748 ( on special today only) and I'm unsure what I want (if any LOL)
My s20 fe unlock as fast like the S21. You can shut of the animation of fingerprint animation. I do miss physical rear sensor I got used to have before.
Nah that's impossible dude - the S21 uses a 3D scanner where as the s20e uses an optical one. It's not that big of a difference, but the s21 is definitely faster
@@thinurawijeratne5986 and it matters why? I guess if your phone is glued to your hand and going to explode if you don't use the app to shut it down...
@@davidfence6939 I'm just stating facts man. The choice honestly depends on what you want. But I for one would rather opt for a flagship than a fan edition of one
@@thinurawijeratne5986 can you share your reasons for preferring the flagship please? I'm genuinely curious as I'm still on the fence between the 2 phones. On the surface, the S20 Fe sounds great in terms of size, battery and price so I'm interested in hearing ur thoughts on the s21
@@edwinleechuanhao On paper, it seems like the s20 fe is really good compared to the S21. The main reason why I picked the flagship is because of the processing speed. It is just so quick, and makes my life much easier. I also think that the 6.5 inch display is overkill and wouldn't necessarily be that easy to use, especially in ome hand. The camer of the s21 series is also leaps and bounds ahead of the s20 fe. But the s21's major drawback is its battery capacity. Given the mad processing and functionality of the phone and the smaller battery capacity, the s21 will drain faster than the s20fe. However, that's not a problem for me cause I have access to charging apst everywhere I go.
Thanks to your video I do not regret buying S20FE, I do have some dead zones on the screen again(most of the middle of the screen is just not there at all lol but happens just once daily which isn't too bad) after the last update but overall a very good phone for the money. I only hope that Samsung will make it work properly asap as it been 6 months now and still not polished!
@Irina Rosioru after pulling the phone out of the pocket the middle of the screen from the bttm to the top was not detecting any touch. It actually never got fixed so I upgraded to S21 in the beginning of April and I am happy with it
Excellent videos all around. Just picked up an S20 FE 5G here in Canada to use for a while. I tried a Pixel 7 Pro and soon learned screens with curved edges, especially where the viewable portion is curved, are not for me. This phone was cheap as heck and will work great and eventually act as a great backup phone. Necessary must haves were 1) Affordable 2) Flat screen and 3) Decent zoom.
Got a S21+ on Sunday. I'm not a huge poweruser, so I can't really justiy having it. Sending it back to O2 and swapping for the S20 FE. 12 quid a month cheaper for the S20 FE. And I can get more on the O2/Samsung enhanced recycle if I go with the S20 FE (£300 against the £200 I'd get for the S21+)
I've been waiting for this comparison. As a result, I will buy S20 FE 5G. The only differences about this phone will be battery capacity and telephoto camera. The 64MP telephoto camera is not worth going extra when S20 FE manages to outscore and performs the same as other aspect from S21. Thanks bud!
I was also waiting for this review. I would personally steer away from S20FE just because in my region I'll be getting the Exynos 990 version, which is crap. The S21, on the other hand, will get the Exynos 2100, which according to reviews, is great. I also like the size, and the screen to body ratio on the S21. The battery on the S20FE is going to be slightly better but with modern fast charging, I don't think its an issue....
The s20 fe's zoom shots also contain more detail than the s21's, because there it's 8mp 3x optical zoom vs digital zoom provided by cropping from the 64mp sensor
I have to say the battery of my S21 isn't that bad. And with doing some maths during the movie drain test you find that 8% of 4500 Mah is 360 Mah for the S20 FE and 10% of 4000 Mah is 400 Mah for the S21. Considering the S21 puts out HDR when the S20 FE doesn't I feel the battery difference during the video part is negligible.
I've had the s20 fe since late November. It's been my favorite phone ever I always had galaxy flagship phones but they got too expensive. So I went to the A series. Liked them but no water proofing turned into a problem then came s20fe. Not much difference in price of A71 so I went for s20fe. I luv it. Don't care if it's plastic. It has a case on it. Not as good gorilla glass. That's t they sell screen protectors. Not enough difference between the fe & s20+ to pay the difference in $ & I lucked out & got it on a Thanksgiving sale for $350
I have used s21 for 2 weeks and I sold it away. All I can say is exynos is still sucks big time in terms of battery and overall experience and I don't even play games! I am currently Samsung s20 fe and I am gonna tell u the honest truth, the best phone ever! U don't expect super high end experience but for a price point,it perform better than s21 and honestly on a normal usage,my s20fe lasted 1.5 days!!! I will vough for this phone! No regret!
I use the MST part of samsung pay ALL THE TIME! I constantly suprise people when they say "oh. apple pay won't work at this payment terminal". When it does, everybody is impressed! I also have a 256gb sd card almost filled up to the brim (128gb internal storage as well). 2 items I use on my s20 FE all the time!
S21 design is comfortable for holding with one hand and faster fingerprint scanner fpr that reason i would go with s21 otherwise s20 fe 5g is totally killer phone by samsung.
Was contemplating real hard on upgrading but decided to keep FE..throw in a new case, and put in 256gb microsd card, should last me another year...thanks for the review!
I still have my s9 and my phone plan allows me to now upgrade through trade in, thank you for this review. Honestly the lack of sd card is a deal breaker for me :/
I'm not sure what samsung was thinking releasing the Fe 3 months before the s21, essentially the same phone besides a smaller screen and battery and higher price tag. Your paying more for a new processor which isn't significantly faster than the old one
Samsung put some great features in their S series but also some bugs come like Chris showed while processing of face lock S21 couldn't recongnise his face that's why I prefer A series more.Bcz higher models of A series like A71,A51 got or upcoming A72,A52 will get almost all flagship level features but at lower price
Great comparison video, but I realised halfway through that, once again, I'm still pretty happy with my fully paid up ages ago S8+ from the dark, Neolithic times of 2017. Maybe if Samsung hadn't replaced the bloated battery and chucked a new digitizer into the bargain for free about 6 months ago, it might have been showing it's age more. However, I use it for email, photos, phonecalls (yes, I do speak to people using a phone) and messaging mainly. I guess I'm still waiting for a phone to come along that just blows my mind, a revolutionary device of some sort, but for the most part - and I guess this makes me the odd one out here - my phone is not my primary communication device anymore. With video calling, skype (yes I know but...sigh) and old fashioned email etc, I just use my phone mainly as a way of keeping tabs on my bank accounts, contactless payments and for those boring moments when you're waiting around somewhere outside the house (which is rare in these plague years - no good stalking opportunities lol) Both phones looks brilliant of course, but then almost every new flagship range is very similar, and equally excellent, it's hard to go wrong buying a new phone as long as you do a little bit of research in advance. Good times for consistent quality but we're still waiting for the next game changer to arrive.
@@mubashirshah96 I just upgraded from the S8 and S9 (wife's) to the S20 FE. Where I'm from, Samsung is really pushing the S21s. The price with contract for 5G 256GB is $608 for S21 and $708 for the S20 FE! With this price negative gap, would one lean towards the S21? Without contract, the S21 is only $80 more than the S20 FE. ($1=€0.62)

Just bought a S20FE over the S21+ S21+ costs way much more, and S21 costs the same as S20FE. S21 series in my country has only Exynos. Which is a huge deal breaker to me. The other deal breaker is the lack of expandable memory.
Samsung is now also shipping the 4G version with the Snapdragon 865 chip so the extra $$$ for the 5G doesn't make so much sense especially if you can't make use of it.
People keeping their S20 FE are smart people. The only thing I see on S21 is the upgraded Snapdragon 888 that's it. S20 FE has microSD card slot, Samsung Pay with NFC and *MST*, bigger display, bigger battery, 32 MP front camera and a charging brick comes in box.
I went to bestbuy and saw both phone in person. In my opinion, the s21 is better in almost every aspect. The only advantage of the s20 FE is price and Samsung right now has really good deals for the s21.
For me the S21 is double the price of the s20fe 5G making me lean towards the s20fe, however I have found it a bit too large each time I have been close to purchasing it. Side by side I have found the S20 to be a better "handful" and more appealing with it's smaller bezels, but this close to the release of the S21 and the exynos 990 chip made me steer clear of that as well! Guess I would buy the s20fe as it is a way better price if just wasn't for it's size!!

The FE is the best between the two. I don't like the red-light camera compartment on the 21 line up. I also like the big lightweight phone once it is with all the flagship specs and that's what you get from the FE. Unless there is going to be an S21 Ultra FE edition coming in the future but right now the 20 FE is the ideal candidate for all Samsung's phones
Don't even think about buying exynos bro, we bought it for the s20+ and the phone started heating immediately on start up I reutrned it on the same day! They might improve it in the future but it's too risky now

Key factors I got from this vid: S20 FE bigger screen, bigger battery and much better battery life, comes with 15W charger S21 none, better selfie camera, has Micro SD card, whilst S21 does NOT. CHEAPER!
when you say they were set on the same brightness levels, were you going by what the slider says or by nits? Just curious, not sure if the sliders represent the same thing!
if they have the same nits, the slider should show the same or similar levels of brightness provided they are on the same OS.
If they're at the same slider setting but have different nits, is that nitpicking?
@@GloriousChickenYT cool, thank you! but then those two have the same peak brightness on manual setting, and the s21 only ever gets brighter than the s20fe under bright conditions when it's set on adaptive brightness?

What's he camera like for zoom and in low light ? Decent or meh?
Both great phones and I think the main differnce is the overall phone size. S21 is compact, people who like compact phones (like me) will prefer the S21 obviously.

Thank you so much, I think I'll go with the S20 FE :)

I would love to go with the latest always if the price difference is not so much.
$100 difference, id go with the s21
Thanks to your video I do not regret buying S20FE, I do have some dead zones on the screen again(most of the middle of the screen is just not there at all lol but happens just once daily which isn't too bad) after the last update but overall a very good phone for the money. I only hope that Samsung will make it work properly asap as it been 6 months now and still not polished!
what do you mean the middle of the screen is not there?
@Irina Rosioru after pulling the phone out of the pocket the middle of the screen from the bttm to the top was not detecting any touch. It actually never got fixed so I upgraded to S21 in the beginning of April and I am happy with it
Excellent videos all around. Just picked up an S20 FE 5G here in Canada to use for a while. I tried a Pixel 7 Pro and soon learned screens with curved edges, especially where the viewable portion is curved, are not for me. This phone was cheap as heck and will work great and eventually act as a great backup phone. Necessary must haves were 1) Affordable 2) Flat screen and 3) Decent zoom.
can you please make a comparison video between S20 vs S21...im sure alot of people would appreciate that
Got a S21+ on Sunday.
Battery life and micro SD make the S20FE the win for me, oh plus it comes with a charger the S21 doesn't 😑
This review has been the most helpful of all the reviews I've watched. Thank you!

It has a case on it. battery life is better on the S20FE because the snapdragon 865 is more power efficient than exynos presumably?
With video calling, skype (yes I know but...sigh) and old fashioned email etc, I just use my phone mainly as a way of keeping tabs on my bank accounts, contactless payments and for those boring moments when you're waiting around somewhere outside the house (which is rare in these plague years - no good stalking opportunities lol)
Both phones looks brilliant of course, but then almost every new flagship range is very similar, and equally excellent, it's hard to go wrong buying a new phone as long as you do a little bit of research in advance. Good times for consistent quality but we're still waiting for the next game changer to arrive.
