Good morning brother. I have an 8 hour layover in Istanbul. Are u close enough to meet up for a coffee or something?
Just ask him before I purchase but are you saying that the Meika adapter will or will not work for Panasonic
@@markking9778 The Sigma mc-21 adapter works on panasonic. There is no meike adapter for EF to panasonic as of yet. I was saying that I think Meike will design one pretty quick though. Because they already did for nikon and sony so i would assume panasonic is next.
@@FulaanCreative thank you and that message didn't come out right but I see you got the gist of of what I was saying.
Judging by previous Lumix releases, the S5II is only gonna get better with more features added later in future firmware updates. They way I see it, Panny boy just put Canon and Sony on notice.
Haha! For sure!
Saving up for the Panasonic S5II after being a Canon user for years.
By the way...your way of editing is masterful.
Funny to the bone...and all with a straight face 😁
Haha! Thanks man!
Nah this video alone gave me the most confidence to purchase a Panasonic Lumix S5II out of all of the other videos I've been watching from the RUclipsrs that went out to Tokyo and tested the camera. You truly spoke to me and many other Canon owners in this same predicament. I too am one that prefer native lenses and was thinking about getting a 15-35mm f/2.8 from Sigma (i
I think Panasonic only has an f/4) but i may not have to now and instead will purchase the adapter. I always knew the EF mount was versatile but I didn't understand how until this video. You most definitely got a new subscriber out of me and thank you!

Lol, I immediately liked this video after the phone call😂
Haha, Thanks!
This man’s knowledge just helped push me towards the right camera purchase!

This is going to be Panasonics biggest yr ever. I havent heard one person talk bad about the S5mii. It's on my list for sure. As soon as I can get it I will.
Yep I totally agree.
Im getting the S5II with the 20-60 kit and 50mm prime kit for £2400 - bargain compared to other camera company offerings.
It just happens to cover my lens usage for hybrid social media work, I use the 20mm 24mm 35mm and 50mm. So basically Im carrying 2 lenses instead of a minimum of 3 lenses.
@@markshirley01 Wow. That's a steal. Sounds like you'll be set after that.

Good information about match colors of lumix and canon ❤
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wow…really great tip about the Sigma adapter, and the potential rise of the Canon EF lens market (just subscribed!)
Awesome. Thanks!
Interesting insight. I got into the Lumix S line with the S1, and went native. The 24-105 lens, and the 1.8 primes are just incredible, and offer very good image quality with very little fuss. I also have EF lenses that I adapted (70-300 IS II and 35 mm f/2 IS being my favourites). I ditched Canon after the original 7D and had gone MFT, enjoying the small setup. And now I'm back to the big and amazing Lumix Full Frame cameras. They are truly amazing devices :)
Yes they have always been amazing. The only issue was always the AF which now is out of the way. I think Lumix will take over video from Canon & Sony.
@@FulaanCreative That's fair. I somehow never owned a camera with Amazing AF AF, so I would just use single point AF and fine tune it by hand for movement, and then I have vintage glass which needs manual focus anyhow, so it wasn't really a 'game changer' for me in that sense, but I can imagine it being critical for many people :)
How do you stay up to date on all the cameras and lenses? LOL. I appreciate the videos being beneficial for someone like me.
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful. I'm doing this as my main job now so I gotta stay up to date.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a S5II or S5IIx for video and photos, I rely on quick autofocus for my work and have heard some of the adapters don't support continuous autofocus or it's slower. Do you have any advice? How about the VILTROX EF-L Pro, I heard it supports continuous, but is reported as being slow on the S5? (Assuming the S5II would address this)
I use the Sigma MC-11 adapter and it works great on all my Ef lenses. I never used the viltrox one so I can't say.
Great video man. You are speaking the truth that is in my mind 🎉
Thanks!
Great video! Confirmation of EF lenses working on lumix phase detect AF is all I needed to know to confirm I’ll be switching systems as soon as Meike release their ND filter EF-L MOUNT adapter
Thanks! Yep I'll also wait for the Meike adapter first.
do you know if the VILTROX EF-L Lens Mount Adapter is any good?@@FulaanCreative
Great information @FulaanCreative
I own a Canon R5 and R6 II and I shoot through HDMI to a Ninja V with both. I noticed that Canon has done some cripple hammer stuff to the HDMI. I was shooting with the R6 Mark II without the display plus + Monitor mode on and messed me up by cutting off in the middle of a recording for no reason.
Thanks for letting me know. You gotta be careful with Canon unfortunately. I bought the Lumix S5II and love it so far.
Hi Fulaan, thanks for the great review, exactly what I was looking for. I've been a canon user the longest time, got the r6 2, bmpcc og and 4k which uses metabones to EF, have been thinking of getting another cam soon and was leaning towards lumix s52x than another r62. Matching colour was my biggest concern and you mention grading Vlog to Clog in resolve but I couldn't find it. Is it a purchased lut ? btw does the MC21 AF works well with all EF lenses? thank you so much in advance. You got a new sub !
Thanks! For the color matching you need to do a color space transform from vlog to c-log. After getting the S5II and trying to match it to Canon I would say it doesn't fully do the job using the color space transform and you still have to do some small corrections to get it to match. It's most definitely doable but will be an extra step in your workflow. The MC-21 Adapter has worked perfectly for me on all my EF and EF-s Lenses. Thanks for the sub. Take care.
These are excellent points.
Thanks!
Your videos are so informative. Thanks man, I have a Gh5 and want to upgrade. Was looking at canon R6 mark II but will stick with lumix 👏🏼 you saved me a lot of money 😂
Happy to help!
First time watching your videos. Thanks for sharing

Yoooooooo, hopefully they will creat it, because their drop in filters adapters are just amazing for the price 🙌🏾🙌🏾
The Clog joke was amazing 🤣🤣
You got a new follow, great video 🙌🏾
Haha! Thanks man. I appreciate it.
Hi, really nice video, full of great advice, you see I'm in the same boat full of Canon equipment and also wanted to upgrade my R6 and was thinking of getting the R6 II, but after your review I might just get the Panasonic instead.
Glad it was helpful!
Yooo….fantastic take and edit👌🏾. I’m not letting go of my r6 mk II. I’m keeping my canon bodies for my main photography gigs. I’m thinking of that s5ii for strictly video projects. And you’re correct about ef lenses you can adapt them to damn near any camera body…cinema or mirrorless. Btw, I picked up that Meike vnd adapter off your recommendation and it has been clutch so far.
Great content as always sir, keep. it. going. ✌🏾
Hey Edward! Thanks for the nice coment. I totally agree, when it comes to photography Canon Is the King. I'm glad you are enjoying the Drop-In ND. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace
@FulaanCreative how sure are you though ? I believe the lumix system gibes you more ability to shoot with more style
@@royalephotography5024 For video there is no question that Lumix is superior now but with photos it depends what you are trying to do. With the latest Canon Photo AF and burst rates, ergonomics etc it's hard to beat.

great information. I was not sure if third part EF lens would work with Sigma adopter for L mount
Thanks! Yes from what I have seen it works very well.
@FulaanCreative Do you think it's worth buying the s5iix over the s5ii?
If you want to shoot directly on to a SSD drive in Pre Res then yes. For me I don't have any need to do that so I went with the normal S5 II

Just wanted to say that I love your vids. well, I also have a question. I just bought a Lumix S5IIX. I want to get cine lenses, should I get L mount or Ef mount? Does this crop of the image? Respect your opinion! PEACE
I would get L-mount lenses. If you already have EF lenses then I wouldn't sell them but if not then L-mount would be better.
@@FulaanCreative 🙏
Fotodiox already makes an EF to L mount adaptor with a built in variable ND filter (Vizelex ND Throttle Fusion Smart AF Lens Adapter). It works great on my S5, but I'm not sure how well it will work with the auto-focus on an S5II. I guess I'll find out as soon as the S5IIx is available.
Oh wow. I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing.
Hey regarding the crop on the 4k 60 for the s5 mk ii and X will using a speed booster help reduce the crop in 4k 60 mode?
Yes it should although I haven't seen a speed booster for it yet.
🔥🔥🔥 well said bro 👏🏽
Thanks!
Thanks for your unique perspective, i actually have an R10 and a Lumix G7, both capable hybrid cameras, though with different sized sensors.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Love my G7, but selling it for S5II, it will be hard for me to let it go 😣 Only thing that I don't like about the G7 is the noise, even when shooting during the sunny day
@@markomilojevic8122 Regarding the noise it sounds similar to my M50 which by the way is a lovely little camera.
Is there a meike adapter for Nikon dslr lenses with a filter slot for Panasonic L mount.
Not that I know of. The only ones I seen so far are for EF lenses.
Great! Thanks!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks again. 2 years ago started with 2x Lumix highend compact like the LX15 with Leica f1.4 who beat the R10 who i tested with any lens in low light conditions. So wait to new S5 to come. I missing your link to the L - EF adapter
Awesome! Oh yes I forgot to post the link. Thanks for reminding me.
@@FulaanCreative buy one today, see how go when go okee, sell my R10
The thing I love the most about Panasonic is their colours. Canon and Sony all have different log profiles which all look different but Panasonic only has V-log which looks awesome and it is the same for the EVA 1 and higher end Varicams. The dynamic range is awesome, same or more latitude than C70 and more than R5c.
Yes for sure, Panasonic Colors are super nice. Regarding the Dynamic range, if it really has as much as the c70 then that's plenty.
@@FulaanCreative for this price range would be kind of wonder...but i do not believe in wonders
I've seen other videos that say Panasonic/Lumix leans toward the magenta side, and I've also seen that in the 1-inch camcorder I use, the Panasonic AG-UX180.
Literally all cameras have a tendency to lean one way or another. Panasonic and Canon magenta, Sony towards green, even the ARRI Alexa leans towards green. @@ebinrock

Glad you made this. I also shoot Canon. Will be getting my first Panasonic with the sigma adapter

Great video! I'm picking up an S5ii myself, and I'd be curious to know if there are any L-mount lenses you've got your eye on😃
Awesome! Honestly I haven't even looked to see what is being offered as I want to just use all my existing EF lenses. However if they pull off something revolutionary like 15-35 f1.4 that would spark my curiosity for sure.
@@FulaanCreative Ooo, yeah that would be awesome!
The Panasonic 24-105 f/4 is a rather underrated lens, that can often be picked up second hand at around US $800 or less. It is big and heavy, but versatile, and the optical stabilization of the lens works marvelously with the IBIS of the S5 series of bodies. It isn't a "true" parfocal lens, but it is electronically assisted parfocal, so it does maintain the same focus point when zooming in and out. It has minimal focus breathing (good not only for video when racking focus, but also for things like product photography if you want to do focus bracketing). It also has 1:2 macro capability. Not sexy, but certainly versatile. Alternatively, a lot of people like the affordable 20-60mm lens if you want something smaller and lighter.
@@marinrealestatephotography Thanks for the suggestions. Very good to know.
@@marinrealestatephotography Haha you get it! That's actually exactly the setup that I'm going for😄I figured since I'm new to the system, I'd get a 24-105 and then fill in any gaps as I discover them. The 20-60 was really tempting to me for it's price, but I like having the constant aperture, and there are times when the 88mm equivalent on my current setup leaves me wanting a little more reach.
I must admit I'm not looking forward to the weight though. I've always avoided using camera straps, but I think those days are behind me😅
Pls don't mind my (slightly) personal question. I couldn't help but notice your really nice parka/jacket. Can you tell me which company makes those, and maybe a link to it? Thanks so much...
Don't mind at all. Not sure where it came from honestly. It was a gift.
This man has done his research. You blew my mind. 🤯
Awesome! Glad you liked the vid.
So it really so cold in Istanbul these days that you have to wear down jacket indoors?
Yes. It's filmed inside of a basement studio type of place with cold concrete walls. At the time of filming this the city hadn't connected natural gas yet so no heat : )
I’m late to this video but great content. I had been battling with the Canon R5 Overheating and Sony just hadn’t felt like the move for me. So when Jan 23 hit, I was really hoping this new Panasonic Cam was going to be what I was hoping for. I bought one in the first early weeks and surprisingly in made it to me in 4 days so I shot with it 😳. Fast track to today, I bought 3 S5ii with 1 MC-21 Adapter for Events but kept my Canon EOS R in the meantime (I guess for the same reason you were talking about 😂)
I did buy the LUMIX L 24-105 & the 70-300 and you can take my word those lenses are Dope hands down.
Yeah, I got my S5ii in about a month ago. Love it so far. Especially the stabilization. I'm using my Tamron 15-30 Image stabilized f2.8 EF lens and it works perfectly. The lens IS with the cameras IS is super smooth. No corner wobbles either even at 15mm. I also use the Sigma 18-35 EF and it also works great. Some of those Lumix lenses do look very appealing especially because they are known to have no focus breathing at all but the price of older EF glass makes them too attractive for me.
@@FulaanCreative I feel you on the EF Glass, Ive acquired a few from shooting Photography with the EOS R. All work well the 16-35 f2.8 L, the 70-200 f2.8 L & the 85 f1.8 with the MC-21. I shoot multiple cam sets so I’m loving being able to keep my Canon Glass (especially with the APSC Mode it’s like getting 2 for 1).
Focus is good and the Stabilization is second to none so far.
It’s a good time to be in the game 😂🍾

This is a useful video bc I want a Lumix s5 but was worried about the stabilization
Btw I loved this video, you're definitely improving so keep up the amazing work
Thanks! I appreciate that.
LUMIX has the best stabilisation in the business, my guy. The S5ii is much better than canons stabilisation in any of their cameras.
@@jockturner1547 this is true.
@@jockturner1547 I meant auto focus😭
@@lucastruesdale9004 Ahh makes more sense hahah! Check out Kai’s S5ii video, he tests out the EF glass with the new phase autofocus and there’s a Lumix RUclipsr called Josh, he did a pretty extensive test on it as well. I’ll see if I can find the links for you.
I agree brother I just moved from 5d iv canon to panasonic
Nice! Congratz on the new camera.
Been having trouble choosing between Canon or Lumix for the past 4 months. After this I’ve pretty much decided on Lumix. I’m not a beginner but not a pro either. Want a camera that I can have for a long time and buy new lenses to. Found a good deal on S1 with 24-105 (and S 50 1.8 for free) which I might take. 😊
Tough choice but I think Lumix is the way to go. Especially with the new AF capabilities of the S5II
You think it will be possible for this s5 iix is gonna go 60fps with updates?
It does 60 fps but with an aps-c crop
@Fulaan Creative isn't that a disadvantage though?
@@JasonCrothers Yes but you can work around it. Other than that the camera has very few weknesses .
@Fulaan Creative that was kinda my take on it. Like you say in your videos it's here... except that one thing. There are a few other small things but really.... the value looks incredible. The R6ii is the only thing that comes close. A couple of advantages for the R6ii spec-wise I saw were more focal points, double the max iso, 10fps faster, and a faster electronic shutter speed. I'm just a dishwasher in this kitchen of cameras and just barely understand the ingredients let alone how they complement each other.
@@JasonCrothers Haha! Nice one. I used to be a dishwasher but seem to have been promoted to bus boy now! Movin' on up..
It is worth mentioning that the Lumix lenses have almost no focus breathing which is huge for video, something that is a downside with the EF lenses.
As well as them f1.8 primes from Lumix are all balanced to! Sooo easy with a gimbal, proper video setup on native lenses 👍🏻
Yes you are right. There are many advantages with many of those L-Mount Lenses but for me having built in filters is more important than those advantages but again that's just me though.
I'm a bit confused. So the mc21 is about $100 and r6II is not that much more than the new panasonic cam. And you were excited about reaching Canon colors with the Panasonic cam, so why not just stick to the r6II? Even with ef lenses if the difference isn't that much from rf lenses? Besides isn't the r6II a far superior photography camera? I'm genuinely interested in your thought process since I'm thinking of going for the r6II over panasonic. Good stuff you got here, keep it up!
Yes i would say the R6 mark II is a better photography camera. The S5II is by far the better video camera though. The only exception is that the S5II has a crop in 4k whereas the r6II doesn't. Other than that the S5II is better. More monitoring features like waveforms, open gate recording, much better IBIS that doesn't have the extreme wobble with wide lenses, and a list of a bunch of other stuff. Don't get me wrong though the R6 II awesome but it depends on your individual needs.
@Fulaan Creative I mean, I would like to understand specifically what makes the Panasonic better than the canon because I am not familiar with video specs at all. I heard they both do 4k and from there I'm unknowledgeable about everything else. I'm thinking if just using the r7 and combining it with the Panasonic for video but I'm such a noobie. 🥲 (I only have an m50)
@@jordanmiranda8038 better dynamic range, better stabilization, the best log profile for color grading, better features for monitoring video, 6k recording, unlimited recording, focus breathing compensation corrected lenses, a set of 1.8 prime lenses that have the same size and weight for easy gimbal replacement, etc. etc. Plus a larger selection of lenses, including more affordable Sigma lenses. Canon has better AF by a bit, better rolling shutter, better burst rates, and that's about it.
I'm a Panasonic user so hopefully I can help a bit. One thing that the R6 II DOES have is 4K at 60fps using the FULL frame sensor. Unfortunately the 4K 60fps uses an aps-c crop on the S5 / S5 II (as well as the Panasonic S1 and S1H, and the sony a7 IV). The S5 II has waveforms and a vectorscope, as well as the other things that @nickcarneyphotography mentioned. I don't know if the R6 II has anamorphic modes, but the S5 II does, so if you are tempted to shoot with anamorphics, the S5 II has you covered. Also, the S5 II is probably still less likely to overheat.
@@marinrealestatephotography Good Points. Thanks!
Using mirrorless with adapters is great, but not exclusive to L-mount.
I also have a lot of EF lenses (and Nikon F lenses). At first I was very tempted by the new Panasonic, but native L-mount lenses are limited. So instead of jumping on the hype, I’ll let the effect of this new and affordable S5II do its work in Sony, Canon and Nikon. I can afford to wait. I can pick up any body or combination of bodies in the future once prices drop and the dust has settled.
Yes I agree with you that this will force Canons hand to ease up on all the arbitrary limitations. So it's good regardless of which system you end up with.
Love the channel love the content and this video is awesome!
I own sigma 18-35mm, Sigma 50-100mm with this adapter I’ll be able to use these and all my EF canon glass on the S5ii with this adapter with No vignette and without hurting the autofocus performance ? !!!
This would truly be the best news

@@armorvideophoto I'm pretty sure that it will if the camera is not in crop mode. The 60fps has a crop so it should be ok in that mode. In full frame it should be ok past 28mm

Yep, I use the EF-S 55-250 as well as the EF-S 10-18 with no issues. I'm using the Sigma MC-21 adapter.
should I use my lumix in Crop mode or do these lenses support full-frame options@@FulaanCreative

But honestly I haven't been following the development since the A7III. I just lost the Joy of shooting when I sold the old Canon and bought the A7III, I wish I had the money to boy em all 🤗
I’m waiting for the S5iix
Nice. Should be soon.
The Variable ND's for L-mount or even EF mount are not still not made and it's nearly been a year since you made this video...
Fotodiox and vizelex have made ND adapter fro EF to L-Mount but I never used them so can't say how good the AF is. they claim it works good. I don't know why Meike is lagging here.
Great video. I'm considering moving from Sony to the S5ii or S5iix. I started out on Panasonic. And along with Canon, I also like the skin tones coming out of Panasonic cameras. I almost always have to tweak skin tones in post with Sony. Only if I shoot in Cine4 or Cine2 profiles for Sony can I get decent skin tones. But, then I lose the dynamic range of Sony SLog3 profile. I have the Sony FX30, which is a great camera. I would like to keep it as a second camera. But, that S5ii is looking so tasty with the better skin tones.
I might hold out for the S5iix, which releases in May. But, who knows what will happen between now and May. Canon might come out with another camera! That being said, I am also looking at the C70 for its cinema camera features. Tough choices these days.
Man tell me about it. So many good cameras these days. I give a lot of credit to Sony because even though like you I don't like the Sony colors too much but it was because they came out with such competitive cameras that Canon was forced to start giving us better cameras and Panasonic was pressed to finally get Phase detect AF.
@@FulaanCreative Yep. And now Panasonic released news that the demand for the S5ii is so high that they won't be able to cover many preorders. Still, I think the S5ii will lead to an increase in Panasonic's market share over time. Which will probably lead to Canon and Sony coming out with more powerful cameras at the S5ii price point. A huge benefit for you and I. :)
@@AllThingsFilm1 💯
Yeap I was talking to a Panasonic representative and I told him how they have suddenly allowed canon users to jump to Lumix s without changing glasses so don't find it weird if the demand is insane ...guest what, the delivery date got pushed back by 2-4weeks as the demand is really high for the s5ii.
If they did it on purpose it was a super smart move.
@@FulaanCreative hmmm maybe 🤔 but it's going to hurt their lens sale
What I'd really like to see is more truly BUILT-IN electronic variable ND (including clear for when you don't need ND), like what Sony has done with their FX6 cinema camera. Then you could use native mirrorless lenses.
That would be awesome for sure
I'm thinking about getting the S5ii, but not sure if it is worth wait to see how the market reacts to this camera, probably the other brands are already thinking about new interesting cameras with better prices.
Only thing I'm sure of is that if Panasonic announces a brand new GH6 mark II or GH6s or something like that with the new PDAF plus dual ISO, streaking issue solved and maintaining all the features it already has (please don't take stabilization out as in the GH5s), then there won't be any more competitors in the market, Panasonic would erase the other brands out of earth.
Good point about the GH6 II but then again there will always be a segment of people that will prefer a full frame camera over cropped ones.
I think the S1Hii is gonna be the real eraser
@@Aviciiz Can't wait to find out!
Highly doubt other companies will have better prices. They might come with some great stuff, but almost all Sony and Canon cameras depend on the tier system holding. If Sony came with something better than the S5ii at 1850 for example, it’d destroy the value of the A73 and A74. It’s easy to forget an A73 STILL costs closer to the S5ii than the A74 does. It’s wild the value Panasonic has brought. It’ll be untouchable for a while imo.
@@DrWNoLs Interesting observation. Thanks for sharing.
I joined for your Canon content...
There will still be plenty of Canon Content. Don't worry.
@@FulaanCreativeGreat, I'm not changing from Canon, I love Canon...
Shoot, i bought r6 ii, i hope i can go back in time and buy panasonic instead
R6II is better than the S5II at photography and not that far behind in video. Costs a little more though. The R6II also has better ergonomics and feels better in the hand. Also better build qulaity.

Duuuuuudeeee, you are smack on! This video is the truth!
Thanks!
Lol that’s me too copping ef l lens for deals
Haha, For real.
Has anyone tested this Tamron 15-30mm lens on a Lumix body? Does the AF work? Obviously with sigma mc 21 adapter.
The only time I tested a third party EF mount lens on my S1 it didn’t even work. It was a Yongnuo 35mm f/2
It wouldn’t detect the lens.
That would be amazing if we could use third party EF mount lenses that have AF that works.
I don't have the S5II yet so i can't test it but there's 3 or 4 videos out there from trustworthy RUclipsrs that tested many EF lenses and the AF worked great. Someone posted the links to those videos on one of the comments here.
Will be on the look out for a video from you using this new combo!!
Thanks! 🤙🏼
Value.
: )
For all the professional features, Lumix packs in their cameras especially for video, I'd rather stick to Lumix than either Canon or Sony. For me it's worth more than the AF every RUclipsr complains about with Lumix.
I've had the S5II for almost a year now and it's hands down the best value for money out there
I wouldn't buy the S5 II because of the bad rolling shutter performance.
For me personally most of my shots are locked off on a tripod so not a big deal for me but that is one of the areas where the r6 II has the S5 II beat.
Biggest downside of EF lenses is their size and weight, they are many many more times heavier than modern lenses for whats actually inferior image quality half the time, but for the price? Unbeatable, the 24-105mm F4 Canon is sometimes found for 200 - 300 euros, many of the 24-70mm for the EF mount are sometimes as low as 100 euros, ridicules!
Unbeatable prices, the Canon primes however are what made the EF mount so famous, the primes are great and many of them even from the 80s have autofocus!!
The F1.2 is probably the most reasonable priced with autofocus F1.2 prime you can get out there, you be paying upwards of 2000 euros for a 50mm F1.2 with AF nowadays
For sure not every EF lens is good but like you said, if you know what to look for there are many gems in there.
You do know that the Sony A1 is capable of shooting 30 fps, but will only shoot 15 fps with third party lenses? Why do you think that is?
I remember when "everybody" was screaming about Apple giving an exclusive to AT&T for their early iPhones. And they all said that Apple was going to get driven out of the cell phone business because of it. Funny how that worked out, huh? It's also funny how the same people who admit that Canon did a pretty good job of building out the EF line now insist that they can't/won't do a good job building out the RF line.
YT is the gaslight capitol of the internet.
The fact is that EF lenses work well on many systems without any limitations like what you mentioned about the A1. Also this video focuses more on Video not stills. Regarding RF lenses I think your missing a crucial point which is that it wasn't just Canon that built out the EF system but 3rd party manufacturers played a humongous role and that won't be happening with RF lenses will it?
I think a smart person will wait another year for s5iii, by that time s5ii will be around 1200-1400 and with more lens options.
Possibly but not necessarily. The 4 year old EOS R Is $1800 now. I bought mine a few years ago for $1500 or so. Panasonic is pretty good with firmware updates and adding new features to their cameras so it might hold it's value better than expected.
@@FulaanCreative you will find $1200 for Eos r... Look at Fuji xt3 and xt4 going for 400-800, i am sure as Panasonic release S1 with pdaf it will be interesting
I don’t think the s5iii will be out in a year… give it a couple or 3 years before the next release …
@@ThePistonPit S1H mark Ii will be out soon
OMG this must be a serious video. Hope you're ok man, the thumbnail was so dramatic 😢
There have been a lot of videos to prove that focusing is no problem only in 4K. If you use 1080, you will not be able to focus well. At present, there are very few real users, all of which are advertising hype. People who use it have reported problems such as inability to focus, freeze, anti-shake and fights. If you buy a Panasonic S5II, you need to pray that they update the firmware every day.
That sounds a bit harsh. I would hope it's not like your saying if so it would mean all those reviewers are being deceptive which is unlikely. I saw plenty of videos where the AF was hunting every now and then but apparently that's already been addressed in the firmware. Well I'm sure we will get more feedback once many more people get their hands on it.
@@FulaanCreative The Asian side has been on sale in January, and many people have gotten the machine. After getting the machine, I found that there is no problem with 4K focusing. But it still doesn't work at 1080p. There is a delay in taking photos. The electronic anti-shake cannot be turned on, otherwise the picture will twitch. You can find some Japanese videos or Chinese videos by yourself. Those who have already purchased can only pray that the new firmware will come soon. very passive. I can assure you that all the videos about S5II from the beginning of January to now are almost advertisements, because no one said the disadvantages! As real users arrive, the questions will grow. If you haven't bought it yet, I suggest you wait.
@@babymixswing2269 I See. Thanks for the information. No doubt I will wait it out a bit. I sure hope they adress all of that with a firmware quickly.
This is why I stayed Sony. Thanks for the save.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
All these cripple hammers will cost Canon a bunch of customers. I have an R5 and I'm still waiting for them to remove the 30-minute record limit. Honestly, I don't think it will ever happen. Might be time to start listing my Canon gear and preorder the Lumix.

There's still no PDAF in 100/120 FPS in S5 II and no one is talking about that...R6 mark II is still the best ...panasonic came after almost 3 to 4 years late with PDAF...and still the same contrast based focus system in higher frame rates...why panny why???
I have to look into that, I thought it loses the AF after 120 fps. If so that's a shame even though all I have had to date is 60fps so I won't be missing too much.
@@FulaanCreative R6 II is still a sensible choice rather than panny..i asked many youtubers regarding 100/120 FPS and yes thet confirmed about the loss of PDAF in these modes..and i cancelled my decision for S5 II ..
@@prayagpankaj9237 Gotchya, Thanks for the info! I appreciate it.
@@FulaanCreative I believe I saw a video that said that the camera does not lose PDAF in those modes. Just loses subject detection mode. Also depending on if you have an external monitor connected you lose the AF boxes in those modes. Lumix is aware and most likely working on an update for that.

Just got my S5II last week. Love it so far!
And the S5II also takes sweet photos. That full size sensor with all the other bells & whistles for the price point is too good to pass up. I just found my Christmas present.
Forget the Canon R6II. Now, if I run across one for a good price, I may have to jump on it. Then again, Canon acts too funny sometimes. That Canon hammer drop makes no sense how they limit features. LUMIX isn’t playing! Nope, I’m going with the Panasonic. I have lots of EF & EF-S glass, Canon, Sigma, & Rokinon. Going to hold onto my Canon 90d & old C100 MKII but upgrade to the S5 II.
@@lb7144 Equipt is nice. Who's honest and which Company is financially stable ? Long Range Panasonic is the leader and Lender to Canon to keep them afloat !!

Facts!!! Canon is going down hill 🤦🏾♂️. Fulaan was right, you can expect Canon to downgrade and remove features from their cameras with firmware updates. The only older camera Canon has recently updated was the 90d with 24fps. It should have come with it from the beginning. Customers did the fool and Canon got their minds right. Canon could have done several AF updates for their older cinema cameras but refused to.
Putting my 💰 towards the Panasonic S5 II. It’s too good to pass up and it’s ripe for firmware upgrades.
Thanks all

Yes, I agree. Although Lumix Cameras are not bad stills cameras Canon is the king in that regard.
@@FulaanCreative yes faster readout, faster burst shutter, class leading AF but Lumix s5ii is catching up
One more thing... you talk about having a "mini cinema" camera. Do a video explaining to all the nice people why it is that cine lenses are manual focus. I mean, there must be a reason or two for that. Do you know what they are? I don't know if you've actually had an S5II in your hands, or if you're just going by specs and other peoples' videos. But I could make a pretty good guess. Just like I would have guessed that you don't actually have any RF glass, when you said that it's not really any different than older EF glass.
I just had someone ask me to shoot an engagement party when I was on the road with nothing but an R5 and an RF50 1.2. It was at an outside area of a restaurant, at night, and about as bad a situation as you could design - especially since I had no lighting with me. The bride to be was grateful and very happy with what I gave her. Just curious - have you personally tested that PDAF in low light? Asking for a friend.
Well the 50 mm RF lens you are referencing which I'm sure is great by the way costs an arm and a leg which was the premise of what I said in this video. For many the nifty 50 f1.8 is just fine and they would not dish out 20x the money for the advantages of the 50mm RF regardless of how large or small that advantage may be. Regarding the video about Cine lenses why don't you do us a favor, make the video and post the link in this thread that would be great. No need to guess if I have RF lenses or the S5II etc.. as I clearly mentioned in the video that I chose EF lenses and purposely did not buy RF lenses and that I will be getting the S5II which would entail me currently not having it. I appreciate the banter though as it is great for the algorithm. Peace!
Cine lenses are usually used on cine cameras , cameras where they have a different section of people do focus pulling , where they want the focus to not depend on assumptions made by the camera
I just got done of a short film that used a kit lens for most of the work , it was painful especially when we wanted to do focus pulls from one side to another , AF would simply not be needed in a controlled environment , and since cinema tech drips by from the more profesional scene - manual it is , though some have managed to include AF on their " cinema " lenses that is not an anamorph one
RF lens are good , but theres a reason that EF lenses are still adapted to be used on some production houses and that even Helios 58 gets used way more than RF glass , its simply that they offer more character than the soulless , clinically clean RF glass that also costs a pretty penny
Multiple people have tested the s52's af , it ranked just below sony's af , and thats a case closed
@@KNAPPAID Yes, very good points. Thanks for chiming in.
