you could also buy a cheap e36 or e30 318. They Drift pretty good
Preferable a 318IS Standard LSD
318 find some 20 years old tires and weld the diff. And itll drift like a beast, for future buy some cheap rockhard coils from ebay for 400euros. Thatll help with entering and car control
+jannplanken "rock hard coils from eBay" and "more control when entering" should not be in the same sentence together.

I know there is kick-down when you floor it but it aint really a clutch kick.

3:00 Tyres, yes. Try overpressuring the back ones to - say - 40psi. That'll make them far more easy to drift.
i personally own the same vehicle, a manual C180, 1995, and i gotta say - next time you are looking for a cheap and old vehicle what to drift with, this is absolutely amazing tho. just needs an upgrade on the suspension system and DEFINITELY has to be a manual, automatics are VERY hard to drift with, because you wont be having full control over your vehicle. still a fun video, love it!

I have w124 too, but its only 2.0 i4 (om601). Turbocharged it last summer i have always loved that ''built not bought'' style, its just getting to know your car all the way.

Cars and tech to initaiate oversteer and minimize understeer he could have kick the clutch, reved out gears, used the e brake while the clutch was engaged so he wasn't fighting the car. Way easier to break traction in a manual car and control it. Wouldn't matter too much if he was driving in snow/mud/rain though

Yea, but e brake is used with pedal on older mercs exept w201 aka 190 :)
Firstly you dont need a hand e-brake for this car from personal experience because you can kick the shit out of the clutch even in the c220d which is slow af just clutch kick the thing and you are ok ;)
Many years ago a friend rerouted the tubes from the windshield wipers to the rear tyres of a Datsun 120Y. Also he filled up with windshield wiper liquid bottle with oil instead of water. Boy that made that Datsun really drift.
My friend had one of these, we used to do skids with it on the snow. Five minutes later I was on phone with my dad asking him to tow us out of the ditch. Fun times.

And their insurance is bonkers so younh people would have to pay more than thrice the cost in insurance.

CRGamingHD well define working... the suspension is fucked and theres nothing left of the bodywork, i doubt the internals are healthy as well.
"Working condition" doesn't mean legal or safe. £200 for a car and thousands more to get it back on the road.
Well the thing is that I compared what the car would cost if it would be sold in my country, that's why I am so astonished. Here in Romania, this would be roughly 500-1000$ in this condition. And as you both said, you would have to invest a lot , arriving to the point where it isn't worth it. But if you want a car just to have fun with, it would be good ( not on public roads ).

I had both an E class and a ML from that period and both of the cars were crazy unreliable. Applies to the C class as well, look at the statistics...

Mine is a 96 c180. AND IT REALLY IS A TANK! I love it. Found it for 200£ because there was some stuff broken on it and the keyfob wasnt working(because of a loose button). Fixed it, and 1 and a half year later, I still haven't paid more fore repairs and services than I bought the car for and it is a total blast on the winter roads.
Also easily doing roundabouts sideways without any trouble :D

always wanted one of those old c classes for drifting. Cut the springs, weld the diff and put thicker oil in the shocks
A have the same car and it can drift on slicker roads...Did you remove the ASD module located at the right hand side under a hood cap near the latch. Roundabouts are a no-go with it installed and it causes the massive understeer. It is the Mercedes version of ESP.

That little Merc C looks pretty stable in its footprint, reluctant to break out the tail. Might be a nice solid car to have around, then...

I've got a 1995 C220, The w202 chassis is not "wollowy". It's a actually one of the best handling rwd small cars ever made by 90's benz. Similar to the 3 series of the time, a good set of tires and these handle like they're on rails.
You guys should make a series about cheap cars like this, they're entertaining!
