In the last test, with the Jeep, either put in 4H and just charge that hill, and let momentum do the work like he did with the there 2. Or put leave it in 4L, lockers on, and crawl it. He did neither.
Dont forgot this, cus this is the biggest joke of all. "The jeep is the only one with atleast somewhat of propper offroad tires" and loses the hill climp.
He put it in 4L and manual mode, he didn't give the transmission a chance to upshift, hitting the rev limiter and limiting wheel speed. Just put the sucker in 4H and gun it or 4L and crawl it.

Different cars can be fun in different ways. I've had a strange medley of cars from Suzuki Mighty Boy to Merc SLK350 and yes, there was a Jimny somewhere in the mix. (Hated the name, though. What was wrong with calling it Sierra?!) Brands, too, from Audi to Toyota. They all had some enjoyable aspects and I agree that fun doesn't necessarily scale with price.
This is why most actual off roaders drive older 4wds. The number of times I've seen an old Jeep TJ with road tyres drive past a stuck V8 is still amusing.
Ujw Gaming well, this was a discussion of off-road ability, but if safety and tech is what you want, absolutely! Enough for structural reinforcements every which way, armour plating, line it with ballistic nylon, then swap in an LS and boost it to power the thing. You want tech? No worries, there's STILL enough left over to pack the thing with MacBooks, sat phones, night vision, FLIR cams, and a lifetime of mobile data! If you're in the States, we can even weaponize it with whatever kind of AR, AK, or sniper rifle you want... and still have money for ammo! It's funny, but true; I've done the math 😂
Seriously, for the amount u pay, the Jimney is a clear winner! Last edit for now: my statement isnt that the jimney is the best offroading car, but it does a really really good job offroading when you look at its pricetag compared to the Jeep and the G. I think the only reason the Jeep failed the last challenge was because you didn't power out like you did with the others. Although, I'm always a huge fan of the Jimny. Crazy how well it did with street tires and no lockers
Jimny for the win. Price vs performance it can't be beat. It's cheap to maintain, run and there's a million aftermarket parts if you want to build it into something wild. I've crossed the Simpson Desert twice, Cape York, driven most coastal tracks, and some of the most rugged mountain country in Victoria and NSW. I don't know about the wallet to be honest, the Suzuki really isn't much cheaper than a Wrangler sport. You're looking at what $25k for the Jimny and maybe $26-27K for a wrangler sport (US market pricing)
Used to off-road Suzuki LJ50s in the early 90s, they were old then. And they could handle anything you threw in front of them (in a green lane-ing sense). They are the Jimney’s spiritual precursor so I’m not surprised it did so well.

The AMG is going to be a nightmare to maintain, everyone usually leases those so their wife has something to get groceries in, then they just move on to something newer. Those Wranglers can be good cars though, the only reliable product from Jeep.
Some nobly grapplers tires would be suffice for Jimny (BF-Goodrich KO2) to be transformed into a little off-road monster since even with stock tires is pretty capable then is not hard to imagine how good will be with KO2..
This wasn't a long term reliability test but the odds are stacked heavily in the Jimny's favour when it comes to reliability and ease of servicing. Much of that techno wizardry will eventually break, plus Suzuki has built a stellar reputation for reliability.
I’m not a Jeep fan boy, I literally drive a corolla but I seriously think the last test was BS you did not drive the Jeep the same. However if you put cost as a factor in this comparison I think the Jimny won for sure. No it wasn’t the best but it was the most practical to take off on the trails and not go bankrupt
The test was also bullshit as it was a 4 door vs a 2 door, had that been the 2 door wrangler it would have creamed them all. I have to disagree with what you said about the jimmny being practical though, as it lacks one major thing needed for trails, and that is locking diffs. If you are rock crawling you can just go home if you dont have locking diffs, as you arnt getting up those rocks without them.
The best thing is that Matt never puts All-Terrain wheels on Suzuki Jimny and he almost always gets the first place, now imagine what Jimny could do if they put All-Terrain wheels on it,like on mine

You didn’t punch the gas on the Jeep like you did with the other cars. I didn’t know you could get 0 points as you still gave points to the G for having spotters and backing up.
This test was biased. The jeep didn't get a running start like the other 2. He even said it. "Start out slow " but the others accelerated from the start
Yes, zero points if you don't complete a challenge he explicitly stated that you deaf bat. Also at the top with the jeep, he was mashing the gas and was accelerating a good degree when he was in the middle of the slope. At 14:36 he was going a similar speed as the wrangler at 13:06. They both mashed the gas towards the middle of the incline.
I agree he gave the jeep gas when it was already on the incline he just dug it in.. gave the Jimmy the best start and the almost 600hp g63 the second best start smh I though I was the only one to see it

Jimny: cheapest, easy to maintain.
Jeep: Overall better offroader considering you wont be scared of pushing it unlike the G. most modifiable
G: Luxury, raw power, but too expensive for it to be really practical
Jeep would fall apart if pushed as hard as the G wagon off-road. It's matching G in this video because G is on low profile road tires and the Jeep has proper off road tires. Put the same off road tires onto the G, and it will do things the Jeep can't. People don't REALLY understand how tough G-wagons are. Go watch Shmee150's video from Austria to see them driven on off-road courses that would completely destroy the Jeep, and the G wagon doesn't break a sweat. They ARE the toughest road legal vehicles in the world, without competition. The fact that they're also luxurious and fast is a bonus.
@@derbigpr500 I am from UAE and jeep owners here modify the jeep (still costs about half the price of a G) to make it an absolute dune climbing beast. Personally I am more of a truck guy, I own a GMC sierra 1 door cabinet.
If two guys are given the same budget, the jeep guy would be driving his third jeep before the G wagon guy can fix his delicate exhaust pipes.
G wagon isn’t really a off-roader anymore. More of a luxury grocery getter. Would be better if it was a simpler older diesel model.
BeyerT1 only thing I’m worried about with the g wagon is the engine and the amount of technology in it. Too luxury to go off road. I would prefer a older diesel model over the new one.

He started the Jeep slowly on the incline. Drive hard into it and it would have no doubt completed the test. Manufactured a result.
