Those cars were built tough and pretty hard to kill. I know someone who had one with 250,000 miles and it still ran well they sold for a newer one as the company they worked for required them to have a newer premium car for their job.

Well it wouldn't explode, you'll probably get valve float then proceed to bend them, and no longer have a running engine (certified internet mechanic here)

Very much depends on the valve train I'd say. An engine with followers and good valve springs should be capable of revving very high before float occurs.
Or downshifting into 2nd while doing 150kmh, like that guy with the Renault Clio.

I actually did similar things to my engine occasionally, because I am a bit curious. It survived close to 8k rpm a lot of times, when it was designed for 6.5k from the factory.
I have the C43, the AMG W202.. It's done 258,000 miles and STILL pulls strong! My favourite part of the video was when you claimed its indestructible.. Because the 90's Mercs almost were!

I have C180 with 500000km (LPG) . Not a single problem with this car . Extremly reliable but rust is problem because of driving on roads full of salt

Everyone wonders what happens when you empty a cars oil. I'm wondering what happens when you completely over fill it. Putting gallons of oil in there

Eddie Vasquez I accidenttaly done that to my go cart once. where the front of it is lower than the back I wasn't getting a good read on my dip stick and I kept putting more oil in it. I drove it and it almost shut down and smoke poured out the exhaust pipe. I thought I blew it up. I shut it off and drained some of the oil out and started it back up and let it idle. after a few minutes the smoke stopped and I drove it again. my guess is that the oil had no where to go so it passed the piston rings and was getting ignited by the spark plug with the fuel. it wasn't good though, my go cart never idled right again. probably left carbon on the valves.
overfilled my corsa with oil, i pretty much brimmed it. It was my first car and you couldnt see anything behind me with the amount of smoke coming out
did that to a van at work, kept pouring oil in and checking the tranny dipstick, yeah it was that dark, eventually gave up and just said fuck it there's oil in there, made it about a hundred yards before the oil filter gasket blew out and dumped all that oil onto the ground

the bearing caps departing from the engine was like see ya lol that's my favourite part
I used my Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 500cc without oil for a month and doing 30km a day. No major issues with the engine just need to get half-engine changed and it's working fine.
I must be the only one who would take that car and restore it, then use it everyday again...

This one's just plain not worth any effort.
Well yeah this car wouldn't really be worth it, but there are some old cool cheap cars out there that are worth seeing restored and back from the dead.
aint worth it these go for very little in good shape so... My familys car is a c220 w202 (the faster version of this one) and we got it with 90k km for 1800€

the car could have been used for parts i mean the engine would have had some salvage value left in it for other people who have the same car who needed parts, but cant afford to buy a new car. i find it sad that something like that just goes to waste.

In Europe you are often required to have car insurance and go through a strict inspection. Making this car street legal in Europe would cost thousands of pounds. So no, this would not have been a good runabout for somebody who can't afford an expensive car.

You should disassemble the engine to see the damage of internal parts.
You can do that just by looking through the hole in the block.

The "damage" was that many of the internal parts suddenly became external parts.

Modern MB has so many computers and it will just shut down if it detects to have a very low oil pressure.

Pierre Pignal I agree, my parents have a 2001 Renault Megane hatchback(they bought it back then as new so first owner) with a K4J engine. It has 240K km in it and there has never been a single problem with it. It might have low power(97 hp, but the car is 1050kg and possibly much lower after stripping it of useless stuff), but it is bulletproof, didn't lose any noticable power throughout the years. I will probably turbocharge it after I get it(in exchange for helping them choose a replacement).

Favorite part was when the engine actually blew, although the several times that the stopwatch was mentioned progressively blew my mind even more. I mean, without oil, I gave it 6 minutes, tops. But 17?! Great vid and great channel!
I came here because yesterday I went to a drive-in oil change place, and they asked me to start my car without realizing nobody had put the new oil in! It only ran for about 10 seconds but I was still concerned until I came to this video.

Replace the engine oil with sunflower oil and see what happens
There was a guy that did that somewhere here on youtube and he got like 5,000 km out of it before he junked the car. The motor still ran great when he junked it.
Car that age especially given what we just watched it would take to long too kill it the sunflower oil would work just fine.
That's one tough car... Tho I don't think it's death was the worst thing in it's life. Look at that poor Mercedes. Not maintained, run on a tight budget, mistreated (probably) for a long time. Sadly, a C180 is not worth restoring. If it were a V6 one, or a turbo diesel it would be worth the effort.
This is why I'm going to keep my w203 forever. So she doesn't end up like this. I believe in some time, w203s will be desirable classics.

This car saved my life when i was queuing in line on the lights a drunk lady hit me with a vw touareg going about 50km/h (30mph) on the side of my now late mercedes and i roled 2 times after the hit and i got out just fine, in shock but fine. So to all parent watching this if you whonna save youre child after it get's it's driving licence get them one of theese bad boy's they will love it , and you will sleep well knowing they are safe :)

This seemed like it would be a decent first car from the fact that it ran without oil for so long, but throw in the fact it's built like a tank....winner.

Jacks are lifting devices, not holding devices. Use a jack stand or axle stand as you guys call them.
I mean they can hold but they are not 100% safe. They are designed to hold otherwise car makers would not provide scissor jacks with the spare wheel kit in their cars imagine the lawsuits if someone was crushed by their car while using one. Still jack stands don't fail and for the small amount of money its worth that security.
