  • Sit back and watch The Magical Orchestra recreate George Harrison's "Within You Without You." First up, maestro David Amram introduces the classical instruments of India used in the song. This is actually an edit of two incomplete videos: the opening of the song from The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (2005) and the remainder of the song from The Dix Hills Performing Arts Center (2006). It was a great honor working with two groups of extraordinary musicians:
    Patchogue performers:
    Tabla: Samir Chatterjee
    Sarangi: Ramesh Mishra, RIP
    Sitar: Kinnar Kumar Seen
    Dix Hills performers:
    Tabla: Dibyarka Chatterjee
    Dilruba: Ted Morano
    Sitar: Roger Lipson

The interest In Indian Music was already there. The Kinks went to Bombay in 1965 on their Asian tour. "See my Friends " is inspired by Indian Raga. 4 months before Norwegian Wood.

@@jeffreykaufmann2867 This is true and I love the Kinks, they're one of the greatest and most underestimated bands ever.
However, George Harrison is mostly responsible for the introduction of Indian music, religion and culture than any other influence.

I wonder if the great George Harrison hadn't used his fame to introduce eastern music to the world, Ravi Shankar in particular, if it would ever found its way to so many listeners. The thing is, we westerners in our arrogance fail to recognize that many of the greatest musicians don't hale from the US or the UK, but from India As for me I became fascinated by Indian music after hearing it in some of the Beatles songs we all love- especially this one.

When George sang of the people who live behind a wall of illusion and asks "Are you one of them?" I thought to myself I certainly hope not, but how do I know if I am just another illusioned unfortunate soul. This song led to my becoming a Hare Krishna monk for over 20 years, thanks to George. This is very well done. It must have taken a lot of rehearsal. Not an easy song to perform publicly but recreated very well.

We were talking about the space between us all
And the people who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth, then it's far too late, when they pass away
We were talking about the love we all could share
When we find it, to try our best to hold it there with our love
With our love, we could save the world, if they only knew
Try to realise it's all within yourself
No one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small
And life flows on within you and without you
We were talking about the love that's gone so cold
And the people who gain the world and lose their soul
They don't know, they can't see, are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself then you may find
Peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we're all one
And life flows on within you and without you

I did not care too much for this song when I first heard it on SPLHCB, but now I really appreciate the beautiful melody and instrumentation. Thank you, George.

My very first LSD trip in 68 was to this from Sgt. Peppers. I knew I was tripping when I hallucinated musical notes 🎵 wearing boots and white gloves trucking out of my speaker system.

My favorite Beatles song!!! I cannot express enough how impressive this performance is. To play this song live, when the band themselves could never do so. Well done man. :) ☮ ♡ ☯

WOW! One of the BEST cover versions from The Magical Orchestra of the genius song 'Within You Without You from Beatle George Harrison. It is one of the most difficult songs to cover and I challenge any/every would be musician to do so. Thank you to uploader Jariel3311 this is so very appreciated. Best wishes from New Zealand.

That is SO cool. They even included the laughter at the end, which I dont think many people still know is the scratchy sound at the very end. Good job, fellas ! Best tune from Sgt. Pepper.

AMEN.
Ojala que lo supiéramos. Ojala lo supiéramos.

George learnt a lot from Paul and John ...but in other ways their genius kept him out of the limelight
