Yes Mralik Rezeski. I had seen Zakir Hussain performing with Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia - present flutist Rakesh Chaurasia's uncle way back in 1978 at IIT Mumbai (Bombay) about four decades back in time. He is great. He raises the same goose pimples of ecstacy and reverences + admiration. It's intensity may be 100 times more now compared to my 1978 experience. Regards, Harish.
My jaw just dropped every time Zakir used the tuning hammer to tighten up the drum while making its sound part of the music and not missing a beat. I was fortunate enough to see this master in concert in the early 90's. He had just flown in from India to New York, came straight from the airport to the concert, was jet-lagged, and had the flu. You could see when he started to play how sick and exhausted he was. But within 5 minutes all signs of fatigue and illness were gone and he proceeded to play an amazing 5 hour concert. Incredible musicians - thank you Zakir and Rakesh for sharing your talents!

when modern music is looking for style and groove, Indian music is already a pure reflection of the soul played whith very simple instruments that have the power to cure everyone.
it comes with years of deep practice.. Also its in their blood.. Both of them fall into into a line of rich heritage.. .. Pt. Hari prasad Chauarsia (flute) is the uncle of Rakesh Chaurasia and Ustad Allah rakha khan father of Zakir Hussain.. Search for their names..
How amazing to have been to experience this as a live performance. I live in a small town in New Zealand. I truly hope some day we will have a venue where this type of concert can be supported here, not only by the venue but the people who have never been exposed to this talent.
Zakir Hussain's eye almost look unfocused as he plays. As if he's giving all of his energy and senses to his hands and letting the music drive HIM. Amazing to watch. Pure dharma chops.

Look how Zakir Hussain Ji is slipping into meditativeness while Rakesh Chaurasia Ji is playing flute... Once you're are in sync with music meditativeness is natural consequence... Music is expression of Silence... Shambho..
Thank you two for your awesome and shocking performance. You made my day, so I couldn't help listening to this great and cool classical music without sensing the stream of time. As a Korean who loves Indian music, l want to send my thanks to you two in person. Two thumbs up!
Y Z speak for yourself. For you maybe not but for millions if not billions, music is a path to God and a way to praise. Just because you don’t feel that way doesn’t mean it isn’t felt that way by many people.
Music reaches beyond countries. It makes us unite and see beyond cultures, colours or boarders. To me music is life. And in this planet at least its made (mostly) by us human beings. And yes, I listen to music from any country and era almost. My taste pretty much knows no boundaries for all expression is majestic creativity and beauty or beast itself manifested.
I stopped playing Tabla a while before due to my studies. I stumbled on this video today and I realized how truly beautiful music is. I am going to start playing again. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you so very much. I have been a multi-instrumentalist for 58 years. I cannot say enough good things about the performances presented here. I appreciate this tremendously. Even the engineering is magnificent for this show.
Indian artists in general don't carry an aircraft load of instruments. They create magic with just a small carry bag. They don't need 200 sq ft stage but a 6 x 6 sq ft is enough to perform..
I hear the forests and mountains of India in the sound of this divine instrument in the hands of Rakesh Chaurasia; but then the nature begin to dance under the exalted rhythms of Zakir Husain's tabla
I had the opportunity to see Pt. Hariprasad (dad of flute player), and Ustad Zakir Hussein live back in 1996, so marvelous, the son is also wonderful, what a amazing duo.
I was in quite a lot of concerts of Zakir Hussain 30 years ago... And now, he is a genius. I love his subtle tablas without the ego trip... I have been to the concert of the greatest drummers in the world and I think that Hussain has learned a lot from them ... Yes, just the silence is peaking more than the greatest tabla solos... Bravo, and I have known in my heart that this is possible also with tablas... I will start to play tabla again and get it right ... Silence is more important than continuously playing...
These two must have been playing together in so many lifetimes throughout eternity that they seem to evoke a feeling of nirvana in their playing! I am so fortunate to have encountered them here in this lifetime! This is such a profound experience...there is something mystical about this!Their souls are speaking!
The way his lips moved on the flute and the way his fingers danced on the tabla.....it was the perfect coordination ....and it felt like the human soul exploring the universe in mind.....o god it was amazing.....❤️❤️❤️❤️
You put two genius together and they magnify each other. To take what seem like simple instruments and show they have limitless scope and beauty of sound.

An incomparable concert! Bravo! The first live music concert I attended in 1968 in of all places Melbourne, Australia, was a concert of classical Indian music. I fell in love. We call it “world music” now; then we somewhat disparagingly called it “folk”. It is of course the music of royal courts and the “classical” music of non-European culture. It doesn’t get any better than this performance.

They are performing for themselves, which is so much more honest way of performing vs. performing for the audience....even if they are all alone and no one else is listening, they will still perform in the same manner and enjoy the way they are enjoying on the stage....that is the beauty of their craft...

I like the comment that music is the 'interruption of silence'. The thunder of the drums and the passage of wind through the flute unite earth and sky. Bravo.
The first flute was the sound of the wind blown over a cut reed grass. Likely a prairie or field of some kind. Or maybe a stave swug in the air by a wandering curious being. Hazrat Inayat Khan says the Pentatonic scale was found from this, and the holes cut where the fingers naturally fell on it.

He raises the same goose pimples of ecstacy and reverences + admiration. It's intensity may be 100 times more now compared to my 1978 experience.
Regards, Harish.
Like someone is dropping honey into my ears .....soooo beautiful , touching the soul ❤️
The healing power of music.

I first found Hussains music through his rhytm experience album and immediately noticed the mastery in his work. I must say in this live these guys are in THE ZONE! Genuinly having fun playing together and the most intricate music just flows through them effortlessly. This is everything a musical performance should be.

Very fine
it comes with years of deep practice.. Also its in their blood.. Both of them fall into into a line of rich heritage.. .. Pt. Hari prasad Chauarsia (flute) is the uncle of Rakesh Chaurasia and Ustad Allah rakha khan father of Zakir Hussain.. Search for their names..

Wow 😮

An incomparable concert! Bravo! The first live music concert I attended in 1968 in of all places Melbourne, Australia, was a concert of classical Indian music. I fell in love. We call it “world music” now; then we somewhat disparagingly called it “folk”. It is of course the music of royal courts and the “classical” music of non-European culture. It doesn’t get any better than this performance.

And who are you trying to prove to?
I like the comment that music is the 'interruption of silence'. The thunder of the drums and the passage of wind through the flute unite earth and sky. Bravo.
Wow that's deep.
