    Crazy your in Portland, im 19, in Vancouver, just North of you. Been detailing cars for 5 years but there is more money here and i enjoy it more, im not licensed and cant get because nobody wants to give you more than $400 for a house wash or $100 for a driveway so i cant even feed myself let alone get enough business where i am charging! im lucky to get a call once a week and they ask if im licensed.. its hard, dont know how guys like you manage.

    • @ExpertPowerWash
      @ExpertPowerWash  3 года назад

      First of all thank you for watching, neighbor. Now the other stuff, get licensed if you want to do this on a professional level. I started this business in Vancouver and I think it cost me around $30 for the business licensing. Get insurance. You will be attracting the wrong customers if not properly covered. Customers also see this as an opportunity to demand a lower price. I have a friend up there getting $500+ for average 2500 sq ft homes. He’s charging $0.35 a sq ft for concrete. It’s all how you position yourself. There are plenty customers willing to pay for “premium services”. It’s a slow grind and a lot of hard work. Steady work doesn’t happen over night. With this mind set, you are probably not charging enough for your detailing either. You don’t want cheap customers. I’m not dogging on you at all but trying to provide some advice. You can do it. Keep pushing!

    • @flightsimguy1483
      @flightsimguy1483 3 года назад +1

      @@ExpertPowerWash I figured it out, it was the same with detailing, I went for the clients that wanted me because quite frankly I charged more, and did a better job. Its the same with power washing, I need to go after the clients that WANT that licensed and insured guy, they want QUALITY, they dont want the most jobs $100 guy, Im in the steps of forming my LLC, getting my contractors license in OR/WA and Insurance, we should get on the phone or meet up some time, im just about to build out my 7x14 enclosed trailer, have a ton in the works equipment wise just need to be a better businessman and improve the marketing, i see you use stuff from teamwashlife, i plan on doing the same, nice shirts thanks for the review, call me a copy cat pretty soon here watch LOL - And to mention, love the setup, Im jealous of that 8 gpm machine! So amazing watching that in action.

  • @ronjclm8590
    @ronjclm8590 4 года назад +2

    I like your videos. The older flatbed looks like a great way to go.
    My question for today is: Is there a way to keep the corrosion from the SH under control. I'm thinking that a lot of guys buying "skids" and putting them on shiny expensive trucks, are going to be very disappointed when the trucks rust out in a few years. I thought of setting up a nice enclosed trailer. I've seen someone on RUclips using a 1st class aluminum frame enclosed trailer. Do you think that washing everything off daily with some type on neutralizer will keep things from rotting out ?

    • @ExpertPowerWash
      @ExpertPowerWash  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. SH will eventually eat away at just about everything. Aluminum is definitely going to be the safest bet. I believe some of the newer Fords have aluminum beds. I don’t use a neutralizer but I’m sure it would help. I do rinse down my equipment daily and have taken steps with the plumbing to reduce the amount of bleach contact to the surfaces. If you are going to go with an enclosed, make sure you vent the bleach tank to the floor or somewhere it will vent to the back.

    • @ronjclm8590
      @ronjclm8590 4 года назад +1

      @@ExpertPowerWash Thanks for the reply. I have heard about venting SH to the outdoors. Some of the rigs I've seen on RUclips look like no one used them to work. :-)

    🔥🔥🔥... LOVE IT!!!!!!!! HOW DID YOU WIRE THE REELS??

    • @ExpertPowerWash
      @ExpertPowerWash  4 года назад

      May have to do a video on that. I wired them in parallel with each other. Used the nice ends and heat shrink wraps. Only ran the bottom one out to the battery. Cleaner that way and less wires running all over. It’s still not as clean as I would like. I used 12 volt 40 amp circuit breaker instead of a fuse. You can find them on Amazon. I can press a button and it resets or shuts down the power to the reels. Hope that helps a little. There’s not a lot out there for wiring. It may be great content for you also. Appreciate what you are doing. Keep up the great work.

    • @ExpertPowerWash
      @ExpertPowerWash  4 года назад

      Appreciate the comments. This is an often asked question that I had also when I first started. There’s not one perfect answer and it all depends on how you want to live. For me, I work my tail off all Summer and try to put a little money away. I enjoy hiking and getting outdoors in the cooler weather. So a little slowdown for me is by design. I also try to book a mix of commercial and gutter cleaning in the winter. By mid February, it’s back to full swing. I also have the ability to work on the business instead of constantly in the business. There are far better guys than me to answer this question. I hope this humble answer helps and at least gives you some guidance on how you want to position your business for winter.

      I'm in WA and it's not as bad as people think here. The biggest issue is the temp, it can get to freezing at night or close to it. So just make sure you drain your system if you leave it out. Rain isn't a huge issue, you're going to get wet anyway when you pressure wash. Applying pre-treats might be problematic though, I don't think I'd softwash in the rain. There are quite a few companies operating year round in my area. I don't use chemicals though so I don't have to worry about it, I use only high pressure water. But I also work in public works and we use our set ups for blasting out culverts or cleaning guard rails and the like. Business tip for you though. if you can afford it I would invest in a jetting set up. Lots of money to be made jetting out culverts and drain pipes. Not cheap though, I think our jetter cost over $25,000.
