Shawnecy, I think the "cubicle thoughts" only apply to people who have limited knowledge or reference while in the cubicle. There are plenty of anecdotes where very creative people purposefully seek solitude to produce innovative work, and these people tend to be the ones who are highly proficient and knowledgeable in their own field. I think this method doesn't work as well in group is because each person does not know exactly what the others know, so they can't judge if their own idea is better than the popular idea. So without trying to irritate the others, they just follow the popular idea.
