Great review! Had a track version in 2003, owned that car for about 4 years. In 2019 I purchased a mint condition 2005 anniversary model that is a weekend toy. Although our daily drives are new high end European cars, I absolutely adore the 350z, It still puts a smile on my face every time. It will always be a special car for me. Cheers From Brisbane
It was funny that you said it was not a comfortable car. I actually bought mine because the seats were the only ones that didn't irritate my back. I have spinal issues and for what ever reason, the ergonomics of my 2004 base 350Z actually make me feel better and it eliminates most back pain. Where as in other cars and SUV's my back and neck end up always aching after about 30 minutes or more. The car does have a stiffer suspension then regular sedans or SUV's but I find it's lack of wallowing and roll easier to deal with. Also find the hatch back setup nice for carrying stuff like a gym bag, range bag or rifle case. You'd be surprised at what and how much can fit in the back. Plus I like that I was able to get a manual transmission since I have had nothing but trouble with automatic transmissions in cars I have previously owned.
Agreed. I also have spinal issues, and the 350Z is the first car I've driven where I didn't miss the lack of lumbar support. The stock seats are *extremely* comfortable and the seating position is ideal. Getting in and out is another story, lol

I’ve been really thinking about getting one and I don’t know if I should of shouldn’t, I hear the tires wear out fast and the insurance is high, just curious on how much you pay for insurance
The tires on an car like this wear out quickly because the compound is softer, so yes that's true and a cost to be aware of. As far as insurance goes there's several variables to how much it'll cost such as your gender, age, driving history and what type of insurance you get. Mine was cheap because at the time I was 25 and had a spotless driving record and I only went for liability (Which I don't recommend!) I was paying about $50 per month. If I went full coverage it would easily double that. So, full answer is it depends... Short answer is yes it'll be more expensive than something plain like a 2005 Civic.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of body kits because they don't serve much purpose other than appearance and to make it look good - have it fit professionally and painted costs a few thousand dollars. If I had a few thousand to spend, I'd buy go fast parts! :)
Besides unexpected breaks proper maintenance means the basics like you listed. Oil changes, filters, timing belt and water pump, brakes. Those would be items to regularly check on and thus fulfill the proper maintenance.
Basic maintenance goes a long way on allowing the car to run optimally as well as proloning it's life. You don't have to do anything extensive - check the wheels, tires and hubs. Clean air filter, oil and timing chain plus water pump. Timing chains are improtant to be aware of on these Z's. The guide rails tend to wear quickly.
I decided not to include Grand Touring because it's not exactly a separate trim level from Touring. The only difference between Touring and GT was the GT had an optional navigation system. i bought a 2005 350z with a blown engine, i seen a 2004 engine on fb for a good price but im not sure if i can use the 2004 engine on the 2005 car can you help me please?
I don't believe that will be an issue unless the ecu is for a late model 05' anniversary edition which used the Rev-Up engine. Besides that, it should be fine to drop in. You should continue to do your research though because I'm not super knowledgeable on engine swaps. An 04' engine into an 05' body in this particular case should be simple and straightforward anyway. It's not some crazy, unheard of swap so I think you'll be fine.
Bro the 350z looks so much better than the 370z, I always thought the 370 looked dumb as fuck. I miss my 350 so much, I had one in high school and got so many chicks
I like the look of the 350z more, along with a few other things. You should check out my other video - Is The Nissan 350z Actually Better Than The 370z? I get into all the details there.
Most likely no, you don't have anything to worry about. You'll want to do your timing belt and water pump soon though. It's always a good idea to do that right around 100k miles.
That price seems slightly high, but only slightly. You should be able to talk him down a few hundred $$$. The insurance price will depend on your age and driving history and it can vary a lot. Good driving record and over 25, insurance will be cheaper. Spotted driving record and under 25 is going to get expensive. Also depends on if you get full coverage or liability.
@@trippydippy4119 it's hard to say what's going to be cheapest to insure because of so many variables. The mx5 possibly is the cheaper option to insure, however if it's newer your insurance provider might make you have full coverage on it which is pricey. With older cars like that 03 350z you probably won't have to have full coverage. But, I don't know for sure. You'll have to ask your auto insurance provider. Also just a note - insurance companies don't like 350z's because they usually go to young guys that wreck them. Decently powerful, rear wheel drive car in the hands of a young dude is asking for trouble. Haha! But yeah, they're more expensive to insure due to that.
There's not actually a whole ton of difference between the two. All the trim levels of the same years have the same engine. Same suspension. Only differences would be wheels, brakes, TC and minor weight savings and aero. You'd be hard pressed to feel any difference between the two trims. I'd say if you like both, go for the one at a better price.
I haven't looked recently but I do know the prices for the 350z's seems to be climbing, plus inflation on top of that. At least in my area several months ago it wasn't impossible to find an older 350z for the 5k range.
@@mrpistonrecaro6483 08s are really rare here, they are mostly 15k and up. You literally got my dream 350z because i want a pearl white too! Nice deal tho bro 🙌🏽
Tires for cars of this type don't generally last long. It depends on what tires you get but an average for "sporty" tires seems to be around 20k miles. Give or take.
Prices will vary a little bit depending on location, transmission type and body type but anyway, It looks like current values for a 350z of that year and with those miles should be around $13k give or take. If they're asking 15k or more, that's too much.
The cheapest ones are going to be 03' - 04' base model. Higher mileage and auto transmission will bring down the price too. Manuals are a bit more desirable in the used car market for these car types.
That's low miles! It must be immaculate because that price seems a little high to me... Although location plays a small role in pricing and car prices across the board continue going up. I'd try to talk them down to at least $15k.
That could be possible. The source I used said base models don't have VDC, but a few people have said the same thing about having it on their base car, so maybe it was an option for some?
That sounds fairly reasonable to me - at least in this crazy car market. I bought mine in 2017 for $14k. It was super clean, 63k miles, rev-up 06'. Had those nice wheels too!
my cousin made a new fb account and hasn't added me back because he thinks I'm a bad influence... so I'm going to get a 350z because i know it's one of his favourite cars 😂😂😂 I'm impartial to cars and don't know what to get next
Europe got the 350z until mid 2009. For a little snippet of time it was possible to buy either an 09 350z or a 09 370z. In the States and elsewhere yes 2008 was the final year. Also, just as a bonus note - the 2009 350z was only sold as the roadster.
@@aaron8196 Call me what you want but, I have spent alot of time with both versions and while the coupe is more capable, nothing beats the top down experience. Also the good thing about the roadster is it was part of the 350z's design from the start and it wasn't an after thought, so the rigidity is still intact. Don't knock it until you try it.
Right, it's unfortunately true. A friend an I talk about that often - how regular modern cars and trucks are as fast as sports cars from the 90's and 2000's. Modern engines and transmissions are getting so finely tuned and engineered that even basic vehicles have become decently quick.
It’s not about acceleration as much as it is the fun factor. It might not be the fastest, but it turns and handles great, and the seating position and maneuverability make it a blast to drive.
@@extraplain That is for sure. My wife's minivan has a better 0 to 60 and is more comfortable on trips. That said, I can smoke her past 90 mph and at 110 she's done. The cornering is wornderful and super fun. I got mine for 4400 but it is a bit of a project. Nothing major but probably 2k to get a new convertible top, new headlamps, some new switches and the like. Beyond that will be performance upgrades if I chose.
I really have no interest in my Z's 0-60 time, it's quick enough and I drive a manual. But a 60-0 braking distance is much more important to me in real world use.
Haha! Yep, 18mpg on the low end. For regular driving I actually average 23 mpg. I would do the math when I'd get gas and normally it was in the low 20's. My mpg gauge would confirm that. I talked to a guy at car meet with an 03' 350z and he said he was getting only around 13mpg. I learned later that he also had a lead foot...

I did you won’t believe how many people was trying to offer more than asking price luckily old man wait for me
I only get 16.2 per gallon in my 2013 G37 and my G only got 52k miles
Curiose, is an 03 z with 170k miles for 6k a bad deal? Also how bad is insurance on these things?
That price seems slightly high, but only slightly. You should be able to talk him down a few hundred $$$. The insurance price will depend on your age and driving history and it can vary a lot. Good driving record and over 25, insurance will be cheaper. Spotted driving record and under 25 is going to get expensive. Also depends on if you get full coverage or liability.
@@da_garage383 for context it's got a few mods, being cold air, exauset, coilovers, basic things
@@da_garage383 also I'm 18 and am looking for a 1st car lmfao, it's this, a 3000gt or a mx5
@@da_garage383 the miata is 2000 and 3000gt is a 91, both are beautiful cars imo
So for my first 350z should I get a track ? Or enthusiast
There's not actually a whole ton of difference between the two. All the trim levels of the same years have the same engine. Same suspension. Only differences would be wheels, brakes, TC and minor weight savings and aero. You'd be hard pressed to feel any difference between the two trims. I'd say if you like both, go for the one at a better price.
yeah in europe the prices are really like 10-15k and most of the are the cabrio's. And thats in euros so 12-18k dollars!
I haven't looked recently but I do know the prices for the 350z's seems to be climbing, plus inflation on top of that. At least in my area several months ago it wasn't impossible to find an older 350z for the 5k range.
Sucks. Just bought an 08 coupe MT 177k miles for $7600 and I thought it was a little much. Pearl white. With many upgrades
@@mrpistonrecaro6483 08s are really rare here, they are mostly 15k and up. You literally got my dream 350z because i want a pearl white too! Nice deal tho bro 🙌🏽

How often would you say the tires need to be changed due to being worn out so much?
Tires for cars of this type don't generally last long. It depends on what tires you get but an average for "sporty" tires seems to be around 20k miles. Give or take.
Can I customize every 350z models ?
There's aftermarket parts for every model and since the 350z's were so popular it's easy to find parts and mods for them.
Hi, i found one 2006 74000 miles really clean whats a good price for it?
Prices will vary a little bit depending on location, transmission type and body type but anyway, It looks like current values for a 350z of that year and with those miles should be around $13k give or take. If they're asking 15k or more, that's too much.
Tx 6 speed
What model years are the cheapest? Please let me know thank you
The cheapest ones are going to be 03' - 04' base model. Higher mileage and auto transmission will bring down the price too. Manuals are a bit more desirable in the used car market for these car types.
I found a 2005 with 42k for 16,995. @ a dealership. Should I buy?
That's low miles! It must be immaculate because that price seems a little high to me... Although location plays a small role in pricing and car prices across the board continue going up. I'd try to talk them down to at least $15k.
just got mine out here in japan for $2700. my new daily
Wow! That's cheap! How did you get that deal?
What rims do u have on the z
They are Rota Torque wheels.
im really struggling to tell the difference between a 350 and a 370
This may help. It's a video I made comparing those two. ruclips.net/video/UuSgTdjah-w/видео.htmlsi=Ann1JhoKGwBUUHWX
The JDM are different i think , i have the base model with VDC
That could be possible. The source I used said base models don't have VDC, but a few people have said the same thing about having it on their base car, so maybe it was an option for some?
@@da_garage383it also has LSD even though it’s the base model but manuals JDM fairlady have LSD standard
Damn lol, I bought my 06 for 15k!! But it’s blue and and has 95k og miles so it was worth it for me 😅
That sounds fairly reasonable to me - at least in this crazy car market. I bought mine in 2017 for $14k. It was super clean, 63k miles, rev-up 06'. Had those nice wheels too!
Whats rev up?

that camshaft crankshaft sensor failure that causes your car to die while driving is just unacceptable
350z was discontinued after 2008 not 2009.
Europe got the 350z until mid 2009. For a little snippet of time it was possible to buy either an 09 350z or a 09 370z. In the States and elsewhere yes 2008 was the final year. Also, just as a bonus note - the 2009 350z was only sold as the roadster.
Thanks, sorry i dint now that. Im in the usa that why I thought it got discontinued after 2008

@@da_garage383 my 04 touring had 17s sadly
It's kind of archaic sport car considering now a days even TRUCKS go 0-60 much faster.
@@drrussdc what minivan goes 0-60 in 5.4 seconds
I really have no interest in my Z's 0-60 time, it's quick enough and I drive a manual. But a 60-0 braking distance is much more important to me in real world use.

18mpg, sure buddy... I get around 13,5...
@@da_garage383 What's the point of owning a sports car if you don't ever cross 3k revs ?
@@Valhalla_Awaits94 I don't know. Ask someone with a sports car that never revs over 3k rpm.
@@da_garage383 getting 23mpg means tou either drive like a senior citizen or you own an automatic. I got that result when I tried hypermiling it, which meant switching gears at 1.5k.
@@Valhalla_Awaits94 Under normal driving I shift at 3k. I've never shifted lower than 2k rpm before. I do drive nicely for the most part - on the street I'm not usually racing and I don't need to prove anything and when I do want to go stupid fast, I'll hop on my motorcycle. My Z has a Magnaflow exhaust so it sounds awesome when you stomp the go pedal and wring out the rpm. I've had plenty of fun with it and I'm extremely lucky I haven't gotten in trouble all the time's I've been rowdy in my Z. I've tracked it and dragged it and done countless pulls and digs...
