In celebration of Rush's 40th Anniversary, Gibson Custom presents the Limited Edition Alex Lifeson R40 Les Paul Axcess offered in a run of 200 guitars with 5A quilt maple tops in a lush Ruby Red R40 finish. It also features a Limited Edition "Starman" R40 die-caste medallion covering the rhythm/treble switch access cavity.
Created through extensive work with Alex Lifeson himself, the Gibson Custom Signed Alex Lifeson 40th Anniversary Les Paul Axcess Quilt similarly redefines the boundaries of the classic Les Paul: packed in a single remarkable instrument, this guitar carries all of the traditional tones that have made the Les Paul legendary, along with unprecedented levels of sonic and performance versatility.
In addition to its traditional Les Paul tonewoods, the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess carries two high-output humbucking pickups with series/parallel wiring options via its push-pull volume controls, and a Floyd Rose licensed unit that not only provides the world's most efficient vibrato system, but is also loaded with Graph Tech Ghost piezo bridge saddles.
Access traditional Gibson magnetic humbucker tones, mix it up with fat and funky series/parallel options, tap the Ghost's realistic acoustic tones, or blend acoustic and magnetic voices - the sky's the limit from this sonic chameleon, whose sound-shifting depths are virtually limitless. What’s more, you can route it all through a traditional mono jack (labeled "Regular") using a single guitar cable, or use two cables to split your sonic trickery off into separate output paths using the "Regular" and the "Life-O-Sound" output jacks together.
All this, and the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess still presents that timeless Les Paul look that has remained a classic for more than 50 years. Hardshell case included.

I grew up with RUSH and first saw Alex live in 1977. Changed my life and my guitar playing forever. Thank God he is still with us and making his vision available to us in so many ways. I was lucky to find a photo in Hit Parader of him then, now I can find Alex any where I choose, Modern is often better. Godspeed.

I saw these guys in '84 at the Texxas Jam at the Cotton Bowl. I was 13... my first concert. Rush was the headline act, along with .38 Special, Ozzy, Bryan Adams and a couple of others. I had been obsessed with Rush since the first time I heard Tom Sawyer when I was around 10 or 11 I guess. That concert cost between $15 and $20... different time. Great show!

As brilliant in the fingers as in the mind, Lifeson is most definitely Canada's greatest guitarist. His clever licks and heavy passages are inspiring guitarists worldwide. Few guitarist's can capture that heavy crunch tone in the style of Jimmy Page.

Wood makes essentially no difference on an electric guitar. Paul can't build guitars for shit anymore, either - he admitted it himself.

WHY, since you went as far as installing a GT piezo rig on the bridge, did you NOT put the GT MIDI 13 pin output on it as well??? Makes no damn sense at all. >:(

Zeek Duff ...maybe you weren't paying attention on how much wood from the body they had to remove without a 13 pin midi output?
Just buy a boss Sy-300 synthesizer pedal and you'll have everything you want. No 13 pan cable needed

I think its pronounced (but I could be wrong) pee-yay-zo and not pie-zo.Hey, we know. You're new to all this. Gibson needs to stick to making guitars like this with the axcess neck joint and belly cuts and piezo system. These are innovations that improve upon the les pauls very outdated and inferior design. The locking trem also takes care of tuning issues like all les pauls have. If Gibson did this more often instead of 59 reissues and shitty innovations like the godawful zero fret nut and terrible automated tuning system...maybe they would be taken more seriously and mayne they would have never gone bankrupt

Floyd Rose on a Les Paul? It's just....silly. On a strat or PRS, why not. But this just looks dumb. It's like putting a spoiler, flashy rims, or painting flames on a classic 60 year old car.

Gosh, I used to idolize Rush and Lifeson used to be one of my favorite guitar players, in the past, but now he is ridiculous! First of all, he should not "rape" Gibson Les Pauls guitars with Floyd Rose tremolos! That's exactly like a fist in your eye! If Gibson people let him to that is only because he is rich, famous, powerful and spoiled! So, 2 thumbs down for Gibson, too! Second, Alex, please stop wearing wigs! You look like a perverted priest and we all know you are a nice guy! C'mon, there's nothing wrong with being bold! Get your dignity back, and show your real cool head with no fear, man!

InnuMaccaband .....really....you totally rip on the nicest rock star alive. You rip on how he looks, and give him no credit for giving us 40 years of tours, a plethora of great songs and just the sacrifice these great musicians make for your entertainment.
      You're a douchebag.....
Gibson has more models you can choose from....some people actually like Floyd Rose trends and Piezo saddles.
