- Say hello to the Les Paul Axcess Custom Figured Top in beautiful Bengal Burst! Well, if you can say hello. When we opened the case we could only drool and make rudimentary sounds for a bit. This gorgeous guitar is the work of the Gibson Custom Shop and to us it represents the best combination of modern and traditional Gibson Les Paul features. Ebony fingerboard? Check! Amazing pickups that are snarling and breathing fire? Check! Figured maple with a finish that could hang in The Louvre? Check! New for 2020, this latest Les Paul from the Gibson Custom Shop does something that the typical Les Paul Custom models haven't done in year - make me more interested in it than many of the vintage recreations. We gush about it and then put it through all of its paces.

This is my DREAM guitar!!!
These pickups are coil splitting, where you split the coils from a humbucker to a single coil. Tapping is different, where you can tap into the coils, eg: you can make hot single coil thinner sounding by using only 75% of its windings.
Is the dirt tone the product of a.) guitar volume control, b.) overdrive pedal, c.) amplifier pre-amp gain increase or d.) some combination of all three?
So did the head stock revision help with the G string-going-out-of-tune thing that I hear about. Never owned a Les Paul, buy curious if what's going on with this model has helped with that?

The amazing thing about this Les Paul custom is that is has the historic specs with the modern appointments. Long neck tenon, single piece body, and true ABR-1 bridge. Many of the non reissue Les Paul customs from the custom shop don’t have the historic features.

Beautiful guitar 🎸 I’m ordering one but currently out of stock at sweetwater .
Bought one of these from Sweetwater but asked them to put locking Grovers on. They happily accommodated. The perfect Les Paul in my mind. Great weight, neck carve is awesome, ebony, real MOP inlays... couldn’t ask for more.

It looks very nice and it seems I like to possess it oneday. But it would be worthwhile to test it whether it could really produce the heavy tone for playing "money for nothing by Direstraits.
It definitely will considering that Mark used a strat for a good chunk of his carreer, If anything it be too much
With two more steps in the neck construction process, Gibson could easily solve that weak angled peg head break problem without that volute and keeping it authentic in look.
Dang that is one gorgeous axe... Chris I have a question.. I started playing a month ago and have been putting serious hours in every single day, 5 hours plus. I noticed that the middle knuckle on my pinky and index finger feels sore on my fretting hand. It isn't sore when they're extended, just when I bend them into my hand. Have you heard of anything like this before ?

I have no idea why they are putting 490/498 pickups in a $5000 guitar. Those same pickups came in my $1800 SG Standard. Switched them out for '61 Burstbuckers. If I bought this guitar I've have to spend another $500 for Custom Buckers or Classic 57 pickups. I have a 1959 M2M. Once you play an R9 no other LP sounds as good.
I wish they would have made this in black as a custom...they make it with a Floyd rose...I don't want a Floyd rose...I like this guitar but want it in black. I am about to buy a 60th V3....I would have gone for this if the body was black.

I’ve literally seen PRS’s that are standard, and have colors like this. Why can’t Gibson just make their guitars look like this in a standard fashion?

I spent so much money just for the Zakk Wylde Bullseye and for the Slash custom anaconda burst. But their value increase. I'm not sure it will be the same for this one. It's not nice looking at guitars as investments, but when you're not reach and spend this amount of money... well you have to look at everything! :)
P.s. I'm not sure I like these pick ups.
