Yes, in this special, for some reason they chose to play the audio of the song from the album over the shots of them playing the song, instead of letting us hear them actually playing it. Don't know why, but you're right, you're hearing the album version.

Other way would be a lot more editing and work mixing all the clips together, making them sound coherent without distracting. This way is a lot more practical when you actually think how you would have to actually do it.

When I was in high school one of my best friend's father had a car audio sales/installation business. For a demonstrator, he took an 1980 Camaro and tricked it out with the most high end system he could devise. Two powered subs, 8 woofers, 8 mids and 6 tweeters. The trunk was covered with amps, crossovers, relay blocks...and the car had two alternators and two batteries. He entered it into many contest throughout the 80's. But this demonstrator was my friends daily driver. I spent many hours in that car. The reason I told this story was that to demonstrate the full capability, he used the Moving Pictures CD as the main sound track because it was recorded so well and engineered to perfection. YYZ played in the car was a religious experience! Every time I hear it now, I always think of that Camaro and how good it was.

My understanding is that all air-traffic communication is in English (I mean if you think about it there has to be a common language, otherwise it would spell disaster), so is "YYZ" pronounced "why why zee" or "why why zed" in air-traffic communications? Well I'm just proud of the fact that these guys did not get caught up in all the drugs and drinking that goes along with being in a rock band. They are very good role models for up and coming bands and groups. The dedication and love for life and music and people make for good song writers.

3 master's at their craft. I don't believe there's been another band with 3 players truly at "the top of their game" like RUSH.
And I believe their compatriots in other bands would agree. I mean, Geddy on bass in just incredible. Alex gets lost sometimes because there's so many great, flamboyant, lead players, but he's right up there with them. And Neil, well there's really not many drummer's you could put above him, especially taking into account the guys writes the damm lyrics too !!!!! I mean, what other bands have their drummer play 15 minute solo's at every concert ??? NONE. Because to keep an audience entertained with a 15 minute drum solo it HAS to be UNBELIEVABLE and have the crowd on edge dying to hear what's next. Only Neil could do that. The only thing greater than his playing was his "composing". The guy truly was the GOAT taking into account:
    playing, composing, and writing.

I used to play the bass, my brother played drums, and our best friend played guitar, back in the day I think we played the whole exit stage left album, I can't explain what it felt like to actually play YYZ, it was incredible It was like being in the middle of a whirlwind! It's like I get goosebumps just thinking about it. The song just takes over and you're just rushing as fast as you can to keep up. It's just incredible. Because my brother was the drummer it was really important for us to be really really tight. Those were such awesome days. Being in the barn, playing la ivia Strangiato, over and over again, trying to get the monsters section just right. Playing spirit of radio, and counting those beats, going right into Freewill.
It was incredible really. The first song they ever learned was Fly by Night.
I think the last song I ever played with my brother, the last one I ever learned with him, was Red Sector A. I learned it just for fun when I was back visiting him in the mid-90s I think.
Rush was just such a great band in so many ways, great guys, great role models, great musicians, great friends to each other. It's just amazing. and to think that playing drums was only one part of Neil peart's life! A tragic loss

When first heard YYZ in 1981/82, first reaction was--"WOW! Who're these guys?!" Had heard "Freewill" on the radio but just thought that was a cool song. First chance I had, purchased "Moving Pictures" on cassette!(Remember Those?!). Played the cassette, and that song until practically wore the tape out! IMHO, YYZ is the most musically complex, and relaxing, pieces of music by ANY group, be it Trio, Quad, Quint, Octet, 10 or 12pc group!
