Love that you show homemade meals with directions as well as quick and easy dinners [ hotdogs w/ a can of baked beans, Ramen noodles ] . I think this is a more reasonable way of feeding a family, a couple or even one person since most of us lead busy lives, and do not have time to make everything from scratch.
Yes! I completely agree!! I try my absolute best to make things from scratch but it’s simply not possible every minute of every day 😅 We’ve gotta have some super easy meals

I like to come to these types of videos to see price differences compared to my stores here in Alberta Canada and calculate what it would cost me (i do love these videos and give me great meal ideas, this is just for my enjoyment haha) so i dont have walmart, costcos etc near me and no Aldi in canada. These exact groceries would cost me $406.56 Canadian or about $296.14 in USD converted.

Aldi prices differ in different cities. You may find that the city/county next door is cheaper than yours! Gasoline, rent, too. The difference adds up. I learned the difference about groceries when i happened to shop at a Giant food that was between myself and my parents. The cost was a lot less than my neighborhood Giant for every item. I shop at Aldi and Walmart and only at Safeway and Giant for a loss leader (if they will sell it without having a minimum purchase of $25. I buy little meat. I instead keep to vegetables and lentils, beans, ric, pasta, potatoes, bread (or make my own bread). Thank you for the video!

@LauraLegge If I have any leftover, I add Miracle Whip and serve it as a cold macaroni salad. Because it has the tuna & peas, it can be a complete lunch in hot weather or, if there's not a lot, a side with hotdogs or burgers. Sometimes we skip it hot and just make the cold version because my teen daughter prefers it that way. If that is the intent, I cut out the butter to save a bit of money. Wow, this food looks great. So many budget videos are pretty sparse. I would probably add a little more chicken and burger to a few, but great base recipes. Next time, try homemade noodles or dumplings. Easy and cheap, but most importantly, delicious.
I have not seen hotdogs sold for .89 cents at any grocery store around me for over five years and a package of chicken thighs like that one is @ $18 to $22 where I live in Canada, the price of one whole chicken was $23.49 cents and a bag of potatoes was $7.99 the last time I went grocery shopping. Always grateful though that their is food on the shelves every week to buy.

Try making a homemade cheese pizza cut it into thick strips…serve with some homemade creamy, basil tomato soup, or store bought if your family prefers that. Sure to fill everyone up and most kids love cheese pizza. This is sometimes a meatless meal for my family. Also, try making a taco Spanish pizza. Mash up the beans to spread on pizza crust after it is baked, top with some leftover cooked ground sausage or ground beef, then top with shredded lettuce, grated Mexican blend cheese, chopped tomato, Jalapeño ( for those who love them), and chopped black olives. Serve with your favorite salsa. Pizza can also be used to clean out the refrigerator just before you need to go shopping again. Make a vegetable pizza with spicy ( Rotel) tomatoes. Use: yellow squash, broccoli, cauliflower, red onion, roasted garlic, Anaheim peppers or what ever you have on hand. Spread olive oil with roasted garlic on crust, top with vegetables, feta cheese with a light sprinkle of fresh mozzarella. Make one with five meats( saved in small quantities from other dishes: bacon, salami, link sausage, ground beef, steak…etc. I place these all in a bag ( they are all cooked), save for a day when money is tight and your family is wanting pizza. I also save brown gravy when I have plenty leftover and freeze it. Then for a light lunch there can be French fries topped with brown gravy and other sides to get rid of. Just some things I do to stretch things. 😊
I absolutely LOVE those ideas!! Thank you so much! We love pizza in this house - we eat it every week haha. I’m going to try to make some roasted tomato soup this week too 😋
@@marystrenke3050 if you use half ground beef and half ground pork sausage it stretches your beef and gives your chili a great depth of flavor…then use the ground beef you saved and the ground pork to make meatballs, and add finely ground fresh bread crumbs to stretch the meat, along with some grated onion, garlic, S& P and any other seasonings you use. If it only makes a few you can make them into tiny meatballs the size of a nickel and make Italian Wedding Soup, or make them about the size of a quarter and put them alternating with bell pepper, onion and pineapple chunks on small wooden picks( skewers) then grill or bake on cookie sheet while basting with a sauce: teriyaki, wild wings has a new sweet & spicy sauce that I bet would be good( might be too spicy for children…I don’t know), or a sauce of your choice. Then serve over some white rice : I cook my rice first then cut up some celery, green onion, tiny pieces of carrot and sauté in some butter until carrot is tender and toss with enough rice to feed about four people( about 3to 4 cups of cooked rice). Add S& P to taste. If you want you can toss in some slivered almonds in with vegetables while cooking( if there are no nut allergies). If I can get a box of Long Grain and Wild Rice mix( which is easy and delicious), I serve this with it too. When I buy five pounds of ground beef I make: a meatloaf and freeze it raw in a plastic freezer bag, then brown about half of pound for tacos, then make four burgers made from the seasoned meat I made meat loaf out of( just take out enough for four, before I add in my bell peppers), so my basic seasonings are: Lipton onion soup mix, little milk, very finely, fresh bread crumbs done in food processor, garlic or garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce( add in tiny diced green bell pepper for meatloaf after taking out what you need for burgers), mix everything together and form burgers. Freeze until ready to grill or cook in oven with a piece of bacon wrapped around outer rim to make faux fillets or on cook top. Now you can make take some out for meatballs, and place in labeled baggie, finely add in bell pepper and form into meatloaf and place in freezer bag and freeze. I usually rotate whether I want to us ground beef as tacos or spaghetti sauce( Spaghetti sauce stretches further), I usually add half ground beef and half ground pork sausage to make mine. A little bacon drippings to cook your onion, bell pepper and garlic in. Then add in little tomato paste cook for few minutes then add in water. Sprinkle in your Italian seasonings, little red wine if you want and S&P to taste. Now you just made your own sauce from a 68 cent can of tomato paste. If family does not like bell pepper, add in a little diced carrot…just make it very tiny so kids who are picky eaters do not see the orange. Now you have meals for the week…plus if you have any sauce left add to rice to make stuffed bell peppers that are cut in half lengthwise ( to stretch them) and top with a piece of bacon to cover top. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Any meatloaf that is leftover turn into a soup or sandwiches and serve them with baked French fries and brown gravy. I never through anything away. Reinvent anything you have leftover.
@@nancyculp6968 Did you know you can turn your banana skins into "meat" and use as meatballs, rissoles or in your spaghetti bolognaise? Also, throw in lots of ground up mushrooms to add to mince meat to stretch it further. 😊
Adding cilantro, parsley or green onions on top of most Mexican type dishes really adds visually, flavor & texture. Keep up the good work. I have never seen anyone make so many breads. I like Dave’s Killer bread for nutrition but you save a lot of money on the others. I heard that the Dollar Stores have tortillas for $1.25 for 12. That might be cost & labor saving also.
Another inexpensive idea for you that I have always used in my arsenal of homemade biscuits, buns, and bread is homemade Red Lobster style Chedarbay Biscuits! They are basically a regular drop biscuit with cheddar cheese, a lot of garlic, and then brushed with garlic butter after baking. They are great as a side with chili or soups, but are fantastic filled with tuna or chicken salads! Focaccia can also be made into a light lunch when topped with chopped pepperoni, black olives, halved cherry tomatoes, a sprinkling of romano or parmesan cheese, and a light sprinkle of garlic olive oil over the it all before they are baked. The tomatos will sweeten and burst if you put the cut side down. Focaccia can also be treated like a premade made pizza crust. They can be frozen or refrigerated, and then topped and baked when you need them. 😊
Thank you so much for all your tips! I’ve got to try those biscuits for sure! They’re my favorite 😋 I love the focaccia lunch idea too! Just brilliant!
Delicious, simple, nutritious, budget friendly meals! Thank you! True words ... "cooking from scratch definitely saves on the budget but I understand sometimes it's a lot of work" ... and we need something that takes little time and brain power. The top shelf of our upright freezer has frozen ready made snacks and a frozen pizza ... just because. I appreciate all the seasonings you use. Seasonings, beyond only s&p, make a dish. Funny thing, if I don't use my dough whisk, I use a fork, too.
Thank you so much! I agree, I always have a few ready-made meals in the freezer. Sometimes I make them myself and freeze them and sometimes it’s a pizza from the store. Gotta have balance! ☺️
Cream is what makes eggs fluffy. Its the fat. Lots of work done. With the slow cook chicken, i wouldnt bother patting it dry to season. Youre going to add water anyway, so its a step you can skip.
So impressive on so many levels. The food haul prepping tips preparing the meals. Right now my husband from an year long Illness is staying in a long term facility. He is supposed to be home mid summer. But we have been eating out so much our diets, costs crazy so trying to get it back under control. These videos are priceless. ❤❤❤
I am in southwest Florida. I shop at Aldi all the time. Their prices are half of the grocery store prices. I am a senior on a fixed income. Your recipes and how you use vegetable scrapes are amazing. Love your videos.
Laura, Thank you so much for sharing so many very delicious looking meals. I am most definitely going to make that bread dough up today. To bake tomorrow. Then I plan to make Either your cornbread, ham, broccli bake. Or the peas pasta ham, mac n cheese, All I have on hand is a packet of velveta cheese sauce, I'll lyk if it works. Is this all from Aldi? Interesting to see what different products you have in Aldi in the US. I used to live in Germany but right up against the border with the Netherlands, different products in each of those too.🇬🇧

Thank you so much! I make as much as I can every few days usually. Then I freeze anything we won’t eat right away. I don’t tend to make 2 weeks of meals at a time unless they’re all freezer meals, which I have in another video. That took me about 4-5 hours I think (I split it into 2 days)
@@ehebrews11 I think it just depends on how much space you have in your small freezer 😄 my small freezer is always full of random veggies and ice cream so there’s not much room for meals haha. If I tidy, I can usually fit about a week’s worth of dinners in my small freezer though, so I don’t think a deep freezer is absolutely necessary
Hi, great video. Is the pan you are using at 30:30 listed down in your blog post? I clicked on all the pans in your blog post and didn"t see it. I would really love to buy one of those pans though. Please post it if you can!
Hello! That pan is from Aldi! It’s called the Awesome pan and it’s in their value aisle occasionally for around $30. It’s rare to find it and they don’t sell it online unfortunately.
OK, I am Southern and we don't use the boxed cornbread at all (well it can be used for cornbread salad, banana mash etc.) but I am GOING to make that cornbread and if I start getting what's wrong with you, I'm gonna say I missed spoke it's called mexican delight, hey gotta save my hindend...hahaha
You know a lot of people will say you will save money if you make things from scratch and I never really think about it because people don’t put a dollar amount on the savings but you made a point to give an approximate amount which is eye opening so I don’t know if that was something you meant to do but I’m grateful you said it so giving tips and tricks is very important thanks sis 👍🏾
Did you want to repurpose the potato salad? You can wash off the mayo and roast the potatoes in the oven at 425° until they’re roasted, turning every 10 minutes or so.
Hi! This was a great plan!! Just wanted to let you know that I think the list on your blog was missing the ramen and chocolate chips and that some of the quantities were different there than in the video. I thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to make updates!
@LauraLegge you're welcome - that grocery trip would be hard for anyone to keep straight!! I am not 100% sure if those were the only differences. I only noticed them because I came back to the video to see how big of a bag of granulated sugar to buy and my ability to scroll the video was being finicky so I just watched the whole way through the trip again 😆
Your meal plan looks great. I would substitute meat for some of the vegetarian dinners. I’m not a big fan of black beans and lentils as substitutes for beef and chicken, although I like lentil soup and white bean and chicken soup.
Where I live in the U.S. eggs 12 in a carton have been as high as $4.49. Last time I went to the store they were down in price. I picked up a dozen for just $1.67. I cook just for myself so it had been quite sometime since I had purchased eggs

I love Aldi 🥰
@@robinholbrook8296 me too!
The English muffins look great!
Thank you so much!
Cream is what makes eggs fluffy. Its the fat. Lots of work done. With the slow cook chicken, i wouldnt bother patting it dry to season. Youre going to add water anyway, so its a step you can skip.
Thank you so much for the tips! 😊
New subscriber. I love your channel.
Thank you so much!! 😊
So impressive on so many levels. The food haul prepping tips preparing the meals. Right now my husband from an year long Illness is staying in a long term facility. He is supposed to be home mid summer. But we have been eating out so much our diets, costs crazy so trying to get it back under control. These videos are priceless. ❤❤❤
I hope your husband recovers quickly! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you love the recipes! ☺️
You can make your beans in the instant pot they come out great
I love that idea!! I’ll try it! Thank you so much for the tip 😊
You don't need to soak them then, either.
@@colettebishop2173 wow! That’s incredible!! I’m definitely trying that!
@randilynn66 is right that it's the easiest way to cook beans, I usually cook a whole bag in one go and then freeze in portions, ready to use.
Well done! Lots of good tips and info!
Thank you so much 😊
Wow 🤩 the apple donuts look amazing! 🍎 🍩 😍🤩
It was fun!! 🤩
Ha just saw your last video. First time watching you. I commented about doing 2 week shopping. Lol just scrolled down and saw this one great.
Haha that’s too funny! 😂 I hope you love the recipes!
Love it. I shop at aldi also. Some of your prices are better and for some things my prices are better. I’m in Ohio.
That’s so interesting how different they all are!
I am in southwest Florida. I shop at Aldi all the time. Their prices are half of the grocery store prices. I am a senior on a fixed income. Your recipes and how you use vegetable scrapes are amazing. Love your videos.
Thank you so much! ☺️ I agree! My ALDI is half the price of the regular grocery store near me. I’m grateful to have them
Not sure what area of the states your in but your prices are amazing!
I’m in Southern California! 😄
I don't live in the US,amd our prices are way, way higher. But i like some of your ideas
Thank you! I’m so sorry about the prices where you are 😰 I hope they come down for y’all!
Great video! Can’t wait to try some of these recipes!!! 😊
Thank you so much! I hope you love them 😊
For one dollar more on the rice grocery outlet 50 pound rice 3.47 comes to 7 cents a pound
Wow! That’s an incredible deal!
Lol... everything looks delicious. Tysm!!❤❤❤
You’re welcome and thank you so much! I hope you love the recipes! I would love to know how you liked everything! ☺️
this video made me subscribed, i hope you have more like this.
Thank you so much! I have a few that are similar and I’ll definitely be making more 😊
You all have really great prices for groceries over there. Grocery prices are really high where I am
Love this!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for the 2 week Meal plan wrote all recipes down and have everything to make these Meals thanks ❤😊 God bless you and your family 💘 and ❤😅
You’re welcome! I hope you love everything!! ☺️ and thank you so much!
Is this all from Aldi? Interesting to see what different products you have in Aldi in the US. I used to live in Germany but right up against the border with the Netherlands, different products in each of those too.🇬🇧
Just made the blueberry muffins... ahhh-mazing!! I did have a problem with trying to Pin the recipes, however. It kept wanting to circle back to RUclips rather than Pinterest. Not sure if there's a glitch in the coding (?) Thanks so much for the great ideas!
Thank you so much! Im so glad you enjoyed them! I’ll see if I can fix the issue with Pinterest 🤔 Thank you for letting me know!
Super helpful video- thanks!
Do you make all of these meals at one time and freeze some for the ones that do not get eaten right away?
Thank you so much! I make as much as I can every few days usually. Then I freeze anything we won’t eat right away. I don’t tend to make 2 weeks of meals at a time unless they’re all freezer meals, which I have in another video. That took me about 4-5 hours I think (I split it into 2 days)
@@LauraLegge Ok, gotcha! I guess I’d need a deep freezer to be this ahead on meals, no?
@@ehebrews11 I think it just depends on how much space you have in your small freezer 😄 my small freezer is always full of random veggies and ice cream so there’s not much room for meals haha. If I tidy, I can usually fit about a week’s worth of dinners in my small freezer though, so I don’t think a deep freezer is absolutely necessary
Excellent video ! Thank you for the inspiration. ❤
Thank you so much!! And you’re welcome ☺️
I would love low/no salt recipe. Good ideas
Thank you! I’ll work on getting a meal plan together with low sodium options/recipes! 😊
Great video! 🎉🎉thank you
Thank you so much! And you’re welcome ☺️
This was awesome!!
Thank you so much! I hope you love all the recipes! 😊
I've been using a wide mouth ring from a Mason jar as a cutter for English muffins, Biscuits, cookies...works well.
That’s a great idea! Thank you so much for the tip!
Love this video. Lots of great meals to make.
Thank you so much! ☺️
Haha I love that! 😂
WOW the prices in Ontario Canada are double the price or more that are shown in this video
Oh wow! 😰
You’re welcome! After all of the work for this meal plan, I really wanted to see if it was really worth it and it was surprising to me too!
Loved it!!!
Thank you so much!! ☺️
What meal would you make if you had left over potatoes salad we just finished burgers tonight
Did you want to repurpose the potato salad? You can wash off the mayo and roast the potatoes in the oven at 425° until they’re roasted, turning every 10 minutes or so.
And then maybe serve that with a sheet pan chicken? Or sheet pan kielbasa and veggies. Something in the oven to go with the potatoes I think 😊
You can toast almonds
i wish food was that cheap here in australia
I'm in the Boston area and you can add at least $1.00 to each of those item...even at the cheapest stores
Oh wow! 😰
Same for where we are in WA state. I wish we had an Aldi! This would have cost me over $200.
great video, thanks for posting
Thank you so much and you’re welcome ☺️ I hope you love the recipes!
Hi! This was a great plan!! Just wanted to let you know that I think the list on your blog was missing the ramen and chocolate chips and that some of the quantities were different there than in the video. I thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to make updates!
Thank you so much for letting me know! I’ll go back and fix that right now! I appreciate you telling me 😊
@LauraLegge you're welcome - that grocery trip would be hard for anyone to keep straight!! I am not 100% sure if those were the only differences. I only noticed them because I came back to the video to see how big of a bag of granulated sugar to buy and my ability to scroll the video was being finicky so I just watched the whole way through the trip again 😆
@@mwahl1686 haha oh my goodness! I hope you love this meal plan and thanks again for letting me know! I’m updating as I type this 😊
Thank you for sharing 😊
You’re welcome ☺️
What store is this? I need to go there.
This is Aldi! It’s my favorite!
Mrs. Dash has not salt added chili and taco seasoning
Yes!! I love Mrs Dash! I make my own now but I love their seasonings too
We call the baked egg w veg and cheese dish a fritatta.
Perfect!! Thank you!
I put a bit of dill in my tuna
Yum! I need to try that!
Subbed!❤
Thank you so much ☺️
Watching this from Canada I am crying at the prices, I have not seen these prices over 3 years now :(
I’m so sorry 😞
Weredid you get those bees wraps
I got it on Amazon! I have them in my storefront and here’s the affiliate link too (earns commission): amzn.to/3StIXrW
Here in ny eggs are 6.99
Oh wow! 😰
Your meal plan looks great. I would substitute meat for some of the vegetarian dinners. I’m not a big fan of black beans and lentils as substitutes for beef and chicken, although I like lentil soup and white bean and chicken soup.
Thank you! I hope you love the recipes! I would love to hear how you make substitutions if you try anything ☺️
my grocery store does not have the low prices like the store you’re shopping at and my store is one of the more reasonable priced stores in my town🥺
Aww bummer 😢
Eggs in Toronto, Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 are like $3.50 for a dozen and upward to 8.00 depending on the brand etc. I
Oh wow! 😯
Your eggs in the U.S. are really affordable, in Europe we spend $2 minimum on a carton of 10 medium eggs.
Oh wow! Our eggs were a lot more expensive last year. I’m so glad the cost went down. We were paying $6 a dozen for a bit!
Where I live in the U.S. eggs 12 in a carton have been as high as $4.49. Last time I went to the store they were down in price. I picked up a dozen for just $1.67. I cook just for myself so it had been quite sometime since I had purchased eggs
really great video 😊
Thank you so much!!
Measurements would be nice
