Can I make a suggestion? If you have not done it already, compile all your own recipes into one location by going back to your videos, copy and pasting them from there into a document. One day you can then organize them into a cookbook, have it published, and sell it right here "in the description below". Just an idea. You create some really budget friendly and good meals that SHOULD be in a cook book somewhere! Just sayin' gf.

OMGosh! I love this video so much for so many reasons! First of all, your family is PRECIOUS!!!! Secondly, you rock in that kitchen! I raised 5 children and where was your channel when I really needed you? My mom laughs when she says I can’t boil water. I don’t find that very funny. I absolutely CAN cook anything with a recipe. Where I completely lack is working miracles like you clearly are a master at. My family would never have eaten that soup for any meal. But I so honor yours for loving it! I’m a new subscriber as of today and can not wait to dive into your other videos. I hope you never stop showing us your creative and inexpensive way of feeding our families! Something from nothing cooking is where it’s at. I’m so impressed! Thank you!

I really appreciate you, your family, and your videos! We desperately need this kind of realness & kindness these days!
I mean no harnful words to the channels with very large families that show grocery hauls, and I'm truly happy they can spend over $1,000 at each haul, but it also makes it very unrealistic. I have been a very frugal shopper, since I was out on my own at 16 yrs old, which was 32 years ago. I've watched our economy rise & fall several times, and I consistently bought frugally. I have been the everyday cook for my parents starting at age 12, and had custody of my sister by 16. Then started my family, and cooked for my husband's family & my family along with my kids & us. If I hadn't kept a stocked pantry & freezer full from sale items, that could've never happened. Now, at almost 48, my sister is out on her own, and all of our parents have passed so I cook for just the 3 of us daily. But I do cook for every holiday for, at least, 5 to 10 people. With this inflation being the worst I've seen in years, your videos are imperative!!!! Most people are in similar shoes. They make too much money to get state help with food, but don't make enough to pay these booming rent, mortgage, utilities, gasoline & food costs.
In my life now, and the last 2 years, I ended up getting cancer again. So for us, it's pay for my treatment or buy groceries. So we rely on food pantries now. Even though, I have my Master's, that doesn't help this. We have gone without Christmas gifts for 3 years, including this one coming up, and it's allowed me to understand my faith, patience, and gratitude more. My young teenaged daughter hasn't asked for anything this entire time, so when I see you normalize struggle meals ,and frugality, it makes me so overjoyed! It took me awhile, even though I've always been frugal, to not be hard on myself for the struggle we've had. I'd be lying if I said that it's still not a struggle, but you help keep my heart & mind clear to understand that I'm more than what I can give financially! We all are worth so very much! Never once do I look back, and say, "wow, I love my husband because he bought me something!" And every single day my daughter thanks me for cooking for our family (so does my hubby), and it overjoys me to know we have children that will soon be adults that have compassion because people like you are teaching this.
Sorry this was so long! I felt compelled to write you! ❤ Thank you again! ❤

I got to visit them only 3 times before she passed and Daddy passed in May of 2022 at 93 years old. We grew up poor, but we were loved and we never went hungry. She cooked a lot like you, but didn't have many kitchen tools except her hands and cast iron pans. Daddy worked really hard, but didn't make a lot of money. When I had kids I was blessed with her knowledge and skills. The woman was a genius with the small food budget she had. Thank God for parents that loved us and took care of us. From your comments, it sounds like you’re getting a lot of shade from viewers. If people are unable to understand that it’s not going to be personally catered to their exact families specifications, then they can stuff it. I think that you are providing many practical ideas and taking people’s suggestions, such as the one about
the beans, into your later videos. You can’t please everybody. I think you’re doing a great job. Keep it up girl.

Cooking on the fly..... I'm a 60 year young great grandma and I raised 4 children quite frugally, quite often with whatever I had available, hence, on the fly.... I learned whilst growing up how to make great tasting meals this way... Think outside the box, many of our favorite meals didn't come from a pte-determined recipe. Kudos to you Mom 🎉🎉

I learned to cook from my dad. I cook a lot like you do... I make meals up as I go along depending on what I have. I really like your budget meal ideas. When your grocery budget is tight or your pantry and fridge is sparse, knowing how to put a meal together for your family is a must. Getting creative with anything you have left is a skill many need these days. There's no shame in learning to feed you family from whatever you can. Something in the tummy is so much better than nothing. During the pandemic, we got food bags from the school. Those included a breakfast and lunch per child. I had just 1 child along with 4 adults to feed. Those food bags from school helped me feed all 5 of us with enough for our munchkin to have snacks as well. So many parents are stressed enough just trying to get from 1 paycheck to the next. I hope that everyone who has access to your videos can share your ideas with others. And parents, PLEASE never be ashamed to go to food pantries, churches, blessing boxes or anywhere you need to get food for your family. If you are a family who is blessed to have more than you need, please help others. At some point, any if us can be in need.

The potatoes and meat dish at the beginning is called stovies in Scotland. Traditionally it's made with leftover meat or bones as you did, potato and and veg left in the house. Now people make it with square slices sausages. You've totally reminded me of my grandmother making it and put me in the mood to make it this week!

Most folks couldn't afford to put meat on the table every night for dinner. Being raised by country parents there were many evening meals consisting of veggies and veggies proteins like beans. One of our favorite meals were Shelley beans cooked with new potatoes, corn bread and fried apples. Food snobs are everywhere. You just keep making your recipes. Most of us love them!

Brooke you are amazing! I'm ashamed how much money I have wasted on food because I was too lazy to prepare it. You are an inspiration. Thank you! ❤

I have to confess, most of what you cook, I can't eat as I'm diabetic although it all looks delicious. Your sweet family & happy demeanor are what keeps me coming back. In a world of hate & anger right now, your channel is a breath of fresh air. I especially love "let others be happy too" ❤💙💚🩵💙

Love watching your videos! Remind me so much of my Appalachian family roots! I can see my grandmother and auntie cooking similar dishes! It warms my heart!

I am so happy today, because I went grocery shopping today for the first time this month and I spent $103.73. This amount is a little bit over my monthly food budget which also includes cleaning items. The amazing thing is that I have enough food and incidentals to get through at least one month without needing to go grocery shopping until October. Of course, I have a stocked pantry which is why I was able to cut my budget in nearly half. Thanks for your idea of $5 pantry stock-ups; plus, thanks to the Kroger's Digital Deals, I am able to beat inflation sticker shock.
