If you put your aromatics in the microwave for a few mins before putting into the turkey cavity, it gives off more flavor into the bird. I do the same thing when I roast a chicken. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
We use our potatoes for "corn" fritters. We always add the leftover corn and green onions for savory top with butter. Or sweet with just corn and maple syrup
You are the most inventive meal planners on a budget. Some others are very repetitive, so I don't get new ideas. Also, you add tons of veg and items like tofu. As a vegan, it's very helpful to see what you come up with. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your channel ❤
I grew up only having what we called shepherds pie after Christmas . My mum made it with leftover turkey . I believed it was called shepherds pie because of the shepherds who visited the stable at Christmas. I was shocked to find out that it had nothing to do with Christmas ,when I was 18 I still love turkey Christmas shepherds pie
I make the same thing but I use all my leftover thanksgiving food. I put the turkey all the veggies in then cover with gravy then top with the mashed potatoes on top then top with cheese
Thank you so much! And it’s so funny you say that because that’s exactly what I’m going to do with one of the round loaves for Thanksgiving! I’m going to use it as a bowl for my spinach dip! ☺️ I think it’ll be perfect!
Martha Stewart's pot pie crust is done in a food processor. It is only a top crust. It is really easy to do. It looks like you did just fine, though. :) -Kryste
Couple of suggestions for consideration: adding a pinch of turmeric to your pot pie filling won’t make your dish seem so beige! And thyme adds good flavour too!
Yes I don’t make a chicken or turkey pot pie without a little thyme. Everything looked really good and really want to give that stuffing and potato pattie sandwich a try. Thanks for the great ideas 😊
I make a Spanish shredded chicken in my InstaPot. Add chicken, chicken broth and 1 can of Rotel w green chili's. Cook.until done, shred with 2 forks. Add a few tablespoons of sour cream and stir. Great for street tacos, taquitos, Mexi bowls, enchiladas, etc. Freezes well too!!!
I'm I doing something wrong when I try to make a pot pie with potatoes to freeze it never turns out. The potatoes always have a funny texture. My granny made potato pancakes all the time I loved them as a kid and don't laugh but I'd dip them in ketchup. Happy Thanksgiving
Try using gold potatoes instead! I feel like they hold up better for freezing. ☺️ I bet my kids would love them with ketchup! That actually sounds good haha. Kind of like a giant French fry 😄
I have the recipe in the blog post for you ☺️ I use 425 grams of flour per loaf and it comes out beautifully! I also just eyeball the honey, so it may be more than a teaspoon
the original shepherds pies were made with ground lamb - hence the recipe’s name - am a young senior and have only ever made my shepherds pies with medium ground beef (onion and niblets corn in meat mixture / smashed potatoes on top) - would imagine you could use ground Turkey - but not sure about the brown sauce and seasonings from “red meat” versions - did you get any other suggestions 🇨🇦🙏 am watching in July - our Thanksgiving is two months away - may have to do something with turkey thigh to satisfy cravings your video created 🤦♀️🤷♀️
It definitely would! Since I’m usually doing these meal plans to show almost everything I purchase except for spices most the time, I try to just include it in the shopping trip. It would definitely be more cost effective to buy a large package if making bread all the time ☺️

I don’t use milk in my mashed potatoes, I keep about 3/4 cup potato water. I use as you do milk.
That’s brilliant! I need to try that. I love that it’s so budget friendly too!
I still have a 11 pound turkey in freezer for 1.29 at aldi last Nov 23

Is this 45 meals for a family for an individual, like 45 servings?
It’s 45 servings 😄
You very often buy yeast , would it not be cheaper to buy a lg pkg?
It definitely would! Since I’m usually doing these meal plans to show almost everything I purchase except for spices most the time, I try to just include it in the shopping trip. It would definitely be more cost effective to buy a large package if making bread all the time ☺️
I thought about this too! But I think separate packages are way more beginner friendly as well as tight budget friendly for the short term ❤
