I think you’re right there, they definitely need some more open water, but in cichlid nature, now that these guys have targeted one another, they won’t stop until the other succumbs.
Thats a lot of fish for that tank, none of them will reach normal length. My female jag bullies everything I've tried except a Raphael catfish. And because those two have a seperate tank, she keeps growing.

I’ve noticed South American cichlids are way more aggressive than Africans. South Americans mixed really don’t seem to mesh well. I’ve had two 125 gallon tanks that I’ve tried to mix and match pairs. I’ve done green terror, Jack Dempsey and red devil in one before and my red devil was a massive dick, I’ve tried wolf, jaguar and Red Devils before with once again my red devil being the aggressor and beating up the other two. I’ve tried flowerhorns and Dempseys In with convicts, didn’t go well. Sadly from years of trying to mix it seems like South American cichlids either belong as a single fish, or if your lucky same species tank fish as they mixes just don’t go well for the aggression these guys have.
@@gameroftheyear1000 I think that when you mix lot of africans they reduce the fighting for territory, whereas Americans decrease their agressions levels when they’re given lots of space.
jackson jones theyre both males, males dovi have alot of dots n more greenish blue on fins...n I the dovi never lost, just haven't finished fighting, cuz the managuense got distracted

My jaguar almost kills my Dovii and my Oscar., Good thing I was able to rescued and seperated them in my time. But my Dovii was damaged badly.
