Just about every fish you have in this tank, I currently have in my tank too. My make Dovii became aggressive as of lately towards the alligator gars. Any more updates on these fish???
That is the kind of tank you would have to be constantly looking over your shoulder in. Look at the teeth on that Wolf! Nice drift wood. I need some of that.
Hi Jamie, normally Dovii are pretty easy to find in the States (that's were I had to get mine). Were are you located? You could always order some from Jeff Rapps...shippings expensive but then at least you get a good quality Dovii and end your search. I'll have fry available for sale I'm hoping in 2 months.
One thing I would never do again is keep a single big Cichlid alone in a tank. I know that even C.dovii will exist in a big aquarium if raised with other fish- and if it has plenty of room. I see vids where even pro aquarists are afraid to put there hand in the aquarium of a single dovii or flowerhorn or red devil, and the rest..well,let them try solitary confinement in a small cell and see if it doesn't make them angry and mean..and neurotic.
Its diet would just be pellets (Hikari). she always looked like she was ready to lay eggs but only did once. She no longer with the Dovii...I think all the false breeding attempts drove him nuts, so I sold her to a fish store. Now hes alone and about 15 inches.
@lloydd692 Hey buddy, I've had my dovii around 3 and a bit years now. Hes almost 16 inches now. When he was a baby I had him in a 35 gallon until he was almost 4 inches then I put him in the 135. Hes still there now...I'll shoot another video of him soon.
Yeah she was but she wasn't right in the head. She constantly bullied my dovii and wasn't able to breed properly. Eventuall got rid of her and now I have the male dovii with a female...actually have fry in my tank right now ;) You can see the pair in some of my newer vids.
Yeah, I'm raising the fry now. Going to sell them all to a wholesaler though. Up in Canada not enough people know of these fish and the demands too low. If I was in the States I'd have no problem sending or selling them. I've crossed the border before with fish (States Side) and they practically throw you in jail.
I think your video has fallen down a youtube worm hole. You need to try to go back thorough the space-time continuum and out the black hole again to make your video back into a 3 minute video. good luck may the force be with you.
They bred a couple times but the female jag wasn't all there in the head so the eggs never made. I have fry now with this male and a newly added female dovii...have about 150 fry I'm rasing now.
They might tolerate each other for a very short period of time but they'll all outgrow the 55. I'd recommend not adding the dovii to the mix...too mean.
I agree they will easily out grow the 55 because common and spotted gar get 3-5 feet long and the dovii will reach 22-29 inches. But there is no way in hell a dovii would injure a gar, garfish scales are like armor and indians sharpened them to use as arrow heads and spear heads. I used to catch gar for a living in Louisiana and sell the meat and you have to use sheet metal cutters to cut through the scales.
Cajun Floridian It’s not always injuries.. the stress alone from the Dovii chasing and attacking a Garfish would cause it to eventually die. Fish can get sick with ick when stressed out.. causing them and possibly other tank mates to die.
How do you get the dovii to not chase the tank mates
Been amazing for years haven't you
+Nathan Clem lol, I see you went to the beginning of the vids ;)

what type of sand is that? I am thinking of switching to sand. thanks.
Nice! How big is the Wolf now? Any new videos of him?
whered u find your dovii ive searched for 7 months still cant find them? please reply
Its just sandbox sand from the Home Depot. I recommend rinsing it before it goes in. you won't get it perfectly clean but it helps.
hey mate i got a smaller dovii , well its 23cm wondered how old yours in/he always been in a big tank?
@bluejackscanada Yeah I was thinking about shooting a video of him today actually lol. Hes almost 16 inches now.
Brother, how many gallons is this tank? and what kind of filtration you using?
@bluejackscanada Yeah and I'll have a new video soon. The Doviis much larger now and his teeth also ;)

Could I put a Dovii red devil and green Texas in a 6x2x2
no srry they r too big and too aggressive
@1:00 what type of fish is that?
Honestly...long term nothing will really go with a Dovii. I'd do a dovii species tank and leave it like that.
Spotted Gar
at 4:44 you'll see the "strigata" pike cichlid.
@lloydd692 Check out my new vid of this guy...much bigger now.
I want a dovii but my mom said no
