Thanks, yes thats the record for them in the wild. I noticed though that people don't really think to give festae huge tanks like they would do for dovii and umbee....perhaps that's why no one has really gotten them to their potential size
Here’s my list of top 10 largest cichlids in the world. 10 Oscar 18 inches. 9 red terror 20 inches. 8 red bay snook 21 inches. 7 umbee cichlid 24 inches. 6 jaguar Cichlid 26 inches. 5 nail tilapia 26 inches. 4 wolf Cichlid 30 inches. 3 peacock bass 30 inches. 2 emperor cichlid 36 inches. 1 speckled peacock bass 48 inches
Crazy stuff on the 6 days dw. Glad it worked out. Jags and Cuban looking terrific! And I got a peak at the gt for the next vid. Picked up a couple juvies last month and getting ready to put them in a new 75. Can’t wait. Thanks for another good vid. GB
If a 12” Midevil beat up a 14” peacock bass your gonna have your hands full with that dovi especially because I think it might be a male the way it’s already trying to dominate the tank so quickly!
Getting good info about Pike cichlids is tuff. Most sights I visit can't even distinguish different species. Thanks for sharing though, had I known than that probably would take the spot for number 9
Nice! That Dovii and Peacock bass are gonna be true monsters. Starting my 800 plywood build tomorrow. Still have an umbee or 2 if you want them. They are only 2" but are growing quickly.
Thanks, I was thinking that maybe a female umbee would work well with my peacock bass being that they shouldn't be as aggressive as males, but I have to figure out the sex of this dovii first because if its a female it'll go with the peacock bass
Your jags are quite skittish. It reminded me of my big male jag when he was around 7", he too was skittish but when he exceeded 13" his temperament changed. Since then he'd fathered many batches of fries
That Dovii! I will have to follow your videos forever. I want to see that fish go from baby to monster. Do NOT EVER give him up. I will one day get one of them too but for now, your one belongs to us :-) Good shitting luck!!!
Lol, thank you. The big question is is it a male or female...I think that will dramatically effect the growth results in terms of growth rate and personality development
Emperor cichlid: I am the largest cichlid in the world! Temensis Peacock bass: ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF. Also Get an emporer cichlid and keep them with the bass
So have you built a larger aquarium for your big Cichlids? I am a new subscriber, I will watch your other vids but man you must have some great tanks!!
The trick with young fish is feed live fish ie guppy’s get him use to u and then introduce other foods but the goal when so small is to get them to eat
Love your new fish! Can the fire eel go with the cichlids? Reason I'm asking is because I want a Jack Dempsey. I don't even know where to order them from. Love Convicts too. 💖🙂
Thank you, once the fire eel gets comfortable eating, yes it can live with cichlids. Mine is very tiny so it would have a hard time competing for food, so I won't mix mine with my cichlids until its about 8 inches or so
This was an amazing video really enjoyed watching 👍🏽 how many inches is your Orino pbass as of right now and how long did it take to get that big as I’ve heard Orino have slower growth rates compared to other pbass
Mine is about 8 inches and mine started off growing just as fast as my others at 1" a month...but ever since I added mine with my other peacock bass it has been refusing the raw fish and only eats pellets, so its growth has slowed down. But if it wasn't for that I think that the growth rate is the same or at least very close
Love the videos. I have a 54g tank with canister filter with 7 Glo tetras, 4 swordtails, 6 giant Danios, 6 Corey's, 2 mollies, 4 guppies, Can I add any more fish?
Use the website aqadvisor as a stocking guide for small fish, just enter the dimensions of the tank and the fish you have (if the fish you have are not on the list find a similar species)
Sounds like you have a bit more space for 4-5 more similar sized fish. I like to break down my tank stocking by space that the fish will occupy...so the danio will be at top for the most part, coreys on the bottom and everyone else will be all around....so yeah like I said 4-5 fish that are under 3" should be okay
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS yeah thats true i saw one dead at the fish store they are very vert sensitive to EVERTHING but they are very cool fish i have a normal jack dempsy that doesnt like anyone he will not even let them get food sometimes i got a 75 gallon the other day we just need to get drift wood and plants and it will be finished oh and add the water i have a jag to but i dont know what to do with him cause he killed my convict cichild and my oscar soo i nothing to do but make him a pond cause he will kill everthing in my koi pond but yeah the electric blue jack dempsy will die at of nowhere but but when my fish get to big i will get a 125 gallon then upgrade even larger if there is enough space
Thanks, I guess its all comes down to the packaging job...the bags had a lot of air, the insolation around the bags and the shipper probably didn't feed them the few days before shipping
bro you telling me doviss can hit 28 inches when i grown 5 from fry i even hav then on here thats just ridiculous dude let me tell you something a dovii will hit 10in in like a year once they hit 12 to 14 they will grow so slow takes them like 3 years to even hit 16in and about 5 years to hit 18 there is no way a dovii in an aquarium will hit 28 there is no way never and people tell eveyone that a dovii should be on a 300g a dovii on a 300g will look like a betta on a 20g i hav purshased quality blue doviss the best of the best and grow them and they dont grow like all youtubers claim
Good vid , only one I would question is the festae at 20 inch I would be surprised to see one get that big
Thanks, yes thats the record for them in the wild. I noticed though that people don't really think to give festae huge tanks like they would do for dovii and umbee....perhaps that's why no one has really gotten them to their potential size
That’s why I live vicariously thru you and your tanks and ponds cuz you keep what I couldn’t
Lol, thanks!
Here’s my list of top 10 largest cichlids in the world. 10 Oscar 18 inches. 9 red terror 20 inches. 8 red bay snook 21 inches. 7 umbee cichlid 24 inches. 6 jaguar Cichlid 26 inches. 5 nail tilapia 26 inches. 4 wolf Cichlid 30 inches. 3 peacock bass 30 inches. 2 emperor cichlid 36 inches. 1 speckled peacock bass 48 inches
I have a decent size fire eel myself, only would eat nightcrawlers but found it one day behind the tank. They will escape through the smallest cracks
Wow, I have to watch out then because I like leaving my tanks open
Fire eels will divide into the sand or small pebblee substrate to hide with their head peeking out occasionally
So glad you finally got a fire eel
Cool video thanks for sharing.
Thanks man, I saw your video of the keystone clash...sucks I didn't go. I saw chicken on a chain made first place...congrats!
@@dwsdarius Thanks sir, and maybe the Aquatic Experience is in Jersey is closer for you.
Nile perch is so much bigger than all of these tiny lil fishys
not a cichlid
Nice fish room, beautiful fish you got! I subbed in your channel! Greets from Belgium
Thank you!

Thank you, yes the gt's are awesome...I just need to score a male!
Umbee are cool fish
If a 12” Midevil beat up a 14” peacock bass your gonna have your hands full with that dovi especially because I think it might be a male the way it’s already trying to dominate the tank so quickly!
Yes I definitely plan to keep him alone
I have kept every fish on this list
Nothing in the Crenicichla genus? Crenicichla Venezuela can reach 18 to 20 inches.
Getting good info about Pike cichlids is tuff. Most sights I visit can't even distinguish different species. Thanks for sharing though, had I known than that probably would take the spot for number 9
@@dwsdarius Petenia splendida the bay snook can also exceed 20inches. Just a few species to look into if you ever redo the top 10 largest cichlids.
What about the emperor cichlid
That's the second largest...it was dethroned by the temensis bass.
Nice! That Dovii and Peacock bass are gonna be true monsters. Starting my 800 plywood build tomorrow. Still have an umbee or 2 if you want them. They are only 2" but are growing quickly.

I still have five so no rush I should be able to sex them when they get bigger. Keep up the good work my friend.
Your jags are quite skittish. It reminded me of my big male jag when he was around 7", he too was skittish but when he exceeded 13" his temperament changed. Since then he'd fathered many batches of fries
You forgot petenia splendida which gets up to 20-21 inches
Great list and super cool pick ups!
Thanks Corey!
I breed Jags. I love this.
Nice, sadly my jags lost their fry
Bravo DwDarius 👏.. Can't wait to see them full size 🐋!!.. Gonna possibly purchase some vieja's but I'm not sure which species yet
Rob those are beautiful
Thanks, yes I was just looking at my veija synspilum who just developed its pink around the head...they definitely are some beautiful fish
love fire eels

I would, but they need higher pH like most African cichlids
@@dwsdarius Do you plan on in the future?
@@seth1571 Maybe...they do look awesome
Excellent video, cant wait for your new tank
Thank You!
Nice unboxing. I'm looking forward to updates on these fish. Your fish room is looking great by the way.
Thank You!
You forgot about the red bay snook the Oscar the red devil Cichlid and the uaru
Umbee cichlid looks like a Green Terror
in the UK its a definite next day delivery ... very scary for you though, and your fish.. good video
Thanks
So have you built a larger aquarium for your big Cichlids? I am a new subscriber, I will watch your other vids but man you must have some great tanks!!
Thank you, I'm getting ready to build a tank for them. Currently I'm buying the parts
I’ve seen a temensis in a fishing pic that the fisherman claimed was 39”. It did look huge to be fair
Wow! Yes I've heard a number of stories about these record breakers
The trick with young fish is feed live fish ie guppy’s get him use to u and then introduce other foods but the goal when so small is to get them to eat
Yes I'm going to get some baby mosquito fish for him

You should get a electric blue jack dempsy
That's one of the fish I gave up on, I tried several times and they are just too sensitive

Dovii can get 36’’
So they say...but the record size was 30". They do get tall and heavy though
IS it true i heard and read that in the wild the dovi cichlid can reach up to 30" I LOVE YOUR VIDEO
Yes I've read the same thing and I've seen pictures of some of those monsters
Those cichlids were huge. I can't believe the fish you ordered were still alive after 5 days in a bag. How did the air last so long? Nice video.
Thanks, I guess its all comes down to the packaging job...the bags had a lot of air, the insolation around the bags and the shipper probably didn't feed them the few days before shipping
You haven't seen mean and ornery until you've kept the gold ocellatus shelldweller.
Lol, I still haven't kept any shelly's yet, I I do though, I guess I'll try those!
What about the golden dorado ?
That is not a cichlid
Great video. What do you treat your new fish with for Parasites...
Murlee Harris the bottle said prazipro
Thank you, yes I find that Prazipro is great for internal parasites which is common with new world cichlids
What fish was behind the cuban cichlid?
vieja synspilum
Where can I buy a Nile Tilapia?
I bought mine from ebay. Local fish farms male sale you some but they usually only want bulk buyers
Bro wher the oskar cichlid & hornat cichlid
And the red devil Cichlid And the uaru
Where did u buy the fish from?
bluegrassaquatics.com
One of your peacock bass is a monoculas peacock bass not ocellaris
Yes its a lot of confusion between those 2, mine was sold as ocellaris...but checking out pics on google I definitely have doubts
Check out Andy Woods’ RUclips channel if you haven’t already. He keeps large cichlids, he’s hysterical and a really knowledgeable fish keeper 🐟🐠
Yes I'm subscribed to him...his fish are my goals with my youngsters!
Young dovii are nowhere near as aggresive as the mature adults.
Your list is missing Petenia Splendida.
Yes they only reach 16" though, so they didn't make it
They can reach 21”

dont be stupid there 2 types of doviss his is honduran that one grows taller and the only un educated here is you
