NOTE: Some of you may be wondering why I didn't mention the Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer. Although it does resemble a short course truck, the UDR is a different type of vehicle entirely. It's a scale desert truck, more akin to the Losi Baja Rey. Although it has often been compared to the Arrma Mojave, they really don't have much in common besides their overall size and external appearance, and the Maxx Slash is much closer to a direct Mojave competitor.
Also, in case anyone's curious, the shot of the Arrma Mojave at the beginning is from a video that we shot about a year ago, but never finished due to a series of unfortunate coincidences. That video will probably never be published, but we did end up with a lot of leftover Mojave footage, and I finally found a use for some of it.

For some reason I can't stand it that most short course RC trucks have independent suspension all round. SC trucks are basically smaller baja/desert trucks with IFS and 3 or 4 link solid axles in the rear. The Slash and others are just normal truggies with different tires and slightly more short-course-like bodies.

This is why I grabbed a baja rey.

Agreed - I have my baja rey too but the Maxx slash is still a fun truck to drive

I think it's a matter of durability. The Baja Rey looks and drives great, but the solid axle setup has more small parts to break.

This is a no brainier for me . Xmaxx . Sct's are ok to me but truggies are better buys overall . When you meet other bashers , I highly doubt they will bring out a sct to bash . Truggy truggy

The Maxx Slash handles better, but the Xmaxx would probably be more durable. Personally, I'd get the XRT - best of both worlds!

The one thing this has going for it is durability and it breaks on the first hop. $700 well spent.
I do get a kick out of all these videos trying to promote the thing.

That front knuckle is definitely a weak point. On the plus side, after it was upgraded to aluminum, we handed it off to Kudra, and he didn't break anything despite bashing it a lot harder than we did (link to his video in the description). Hopefully Traxxas will learn from our experience and make that part aluminum from the factory on future versions.

Overpriced. Watch their video and look for the grey spacers in the front as well as the white springs. False advertisement. Buy what you see. Bottoms out bad in front. With spacers and springs, they will not bottom out as bad.

Good eye - I hadn't noticed that in the Traxxas video, but watching it again, I do see it now. Odd that they wouldn't at least put the spacers on the production version - the part itself can't cost more than a few bucks. At least it's an easy upgrade.

@bradenbaldwin9838 Wow. Negative comment. Good job. Broke is not the issue, buddy. False advertisement is the issue.

Bet you the price of that truck new with batteries and chargers it won’t run in a month if you drive it daily. Traxxas is so cheap now. Everything breaks when you actually drive them.
