ive had this truck for about 3 weeks now and its awesome! like stated the shocks are very soft. thats my only complaint with it so far. traxxas had a deal where you buy the truck for $700 and get 2 3s batteries and a charger free! so the car was only $450 if you count the free charger and batteries.
I am an old school Tamiya RC man myself. Still run my Lunch Box which I have painted up as the A-Team van with a B.A Baracus figure mounted in the drivers side. Added working lights and a higher power engine and metal replacement parts for the gears so as not to rip them apart with the higher power brushless motor.
It's absolutely not 4th, 5th, or 6th scale. Thankfully they don't put a scale on it (or blatantly lie about it like some other companies) but you can use math to determine it.
Traction roll is a common thing with short course trucks. It requires diff and shock tuning depending on the surface/track...tires will be a factor also. I raced 4WD short course and traction roll was one of the biggest tuning points every race. My 1st 4WD short course was the losi ten-scte artr because the review you did on it back in the day. Keep up the awesome vids!
Oh no way, I never knew you had an RC channel... I used to be into nearly everything RC when I was younger and had more free time, with my first hobby-grade RC car being the original _Traxxas Slash,_ later upgrading to an _E-Revo VXL,_ but now days, the most I really do in the hobby is fly some quad-copters, perhaps drive some smaller-scale, rather lower-end cars and trucks here and there, and seasonally, I might take a boat out once or twice, but sometimes it is tempting to get back into... Perhaps one day.
I just joined from The Quartering. Don't know much bout rc's but gonna watch some. One of my old Drivers, Kyle Busch when I was with Joe Gibbs Racing had a Craftsman Truck Team KBM. In the early years Traxxas was a major sponsor and Kyle would use a small oval track for his trucks by my house. Who knows, maybe this will interest me.
So glad to get notified, ive learned so much from nightmare over the years. You and jang really got me and my son into upgrading this rc's. Great to see ya again.. I love to see a race arrma Mojave 6s v traxxas slash 6s.
Been an RC nerd my whole life. Cool to see one of the culture/political RUclipsrs I follow also into it. Bummed the hobby has mostly gone to rtr’s though. I kinda get why but building them is the only way to go.
First, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the tires...if a person plans to ONLY run it on the street. Off-road, yup, it needs different tires. Other than that, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to say "thank you" for your honesty. I subscribe to Mark Santa Maria, and I luv everything he said about the MAXX Slash...but, being (essentially) "sponsored" by Traxxas, I'm also quite aware that he's not going to say anything negative, and he's got going to point out any of the truly 'bad' points. Overall, I really like it...but, I'm not planning on getting one.
I got one used for 400 bucks with a free 4s battery perfect size for the trunk of my car the XRT is way to messy after use and really heavy too so I feel like this is perfect all around can’t wait for upgrades
Jeremy is by far the best RUclipsr has everything that you need in life. But for my question now im new to rc cars and was looking at the traxxas stampede 4x4 or the slash 4x4 what is the best for over-all use and abuse. For off roading
Hey, if you don't think it's worth $700 I'll take it off your hands. I mean it's open box so it won't be full price... Love your work man, glad to see your having fun and doing stuff like this again!
Typical Traxxas. No way this thing should be this expensive with the UDR being only $50 more. Not the same type of vehicle, but the TRX4 is far more complex and hundreds less. This makes no sense at this price point.
So the price Will come down. The Maxx is $569 and this is basically a reskinned Maxx. The typical marketing practice for something like this would be to mark it up initially for the early adopters. I expect it will settle around $599-649 once sales have stabilized.
@@69jonhill If you're using a real trophy truck as comparison, it's 8th scale. If you use a slash, it's very close but a tiny bit smaller. So definitely not bigger than 1/8. Keep in mind some other companies lie about their scales.
