Yay Oliver! So happy to see him again. Bless you Hammond for keeping him. When I was in my early teens (too young to drive unfortunately), my Mom bought an old Opel Kadett. I don't remember what model year it was. It was gold with black stripes down the side and big fog lights on the front. I think she paid $300 or $400 for it. She just loved that little car. There is no sincerity here friend. This was an advertisement paid for by Ferrari any other, even remotely comparable car was probably forbidden. Like a Mercedes for example. Cause they keep beating them on the formula track quite a lot. This was an ad and they lured us in with oliver. its smart but extremely insincere.
@@italianautomotiveenthusias931 In all measurable ways the 458 is a far superior car but anyone who saw the Top Gear episode where it crossed Africa, fell in love with the Oliver and some times that can mean more than technical excellence.

Except there's clearly more than one Oliver in this video, one with the OPEL be on the nose, a second for the close ups without the lettering. One Oliver? There isn't even just one Oliver in this video.
Honestly, I'm with Hammond on this one. I have an old Opel Astra F with a Diesel and I have a nice Saab 9-3 Aero. The Saab is obviously objectively a better car, but I have a strong sentiment to that Astra. My Dad owned it, it took me to my first ever holidays in the Mountains (I've loved mountains ever since), it's been with our family for over a decade now and it never failed us. Not once did it break when we needed it and it still goes through technical inspections with no issues. There are many Opels like that Astra, but there is only this one Astra that took me on Holiday to the mountains as a kid. It's a pile of junk to everyone else but to me, it's worth more than any Ferrari ever sold!
Honestly I would’ve chosen Oliver because of the bond between it and Hammond, the journey they went through with hardship and the fact he kept it after shows how much he loves the car. May just owns a Ferrari, there’s no bond there and he even says he never uses it
Yes, but did you emerge without a scratch? Weren't you just a little entertained? A smidge? Besides, isn't everything on TV basically an ad for something else?
It was a really great adventure indeed. However, I still think that Patagonia Special has the best mountainous views, despite what happened after. IDK, I just love mountains I guess.
yeah........... i wouldn't. to them, running super cars is normal, but to me it's would be both more exciting and more of a novelty. i have already driven a bunch of old shitboxes before. i even have my own "oliver" (this thing: i.ibb.co/G0vmvBj/20190919-141500.jpg - nevermind the stuff on it and the dirt, the sidewalk was being repaired so everything was a mess) and i love it, but i would trade it for a ferrari in a heartbeat, even knowing there are tons of ferraris like the one i would have and the car i'd be trading in for it is technically one-of-a-kind.
@@derweiehelge9087 but you say the same about the cars, people want to see who can make the best car, and make the best designs and innovatives, but hey I understand Mercedes have been unchallenged for 6 years and it's boring they should get a way to make the performance gap smaller like from 2007-2013

That's why my dream car is a 1985 Toyota Sprinter Trueno. Yes it can't do 400 KM/H, yes it takes 8.6 seconds to get to only 100 KM/H... She named it Opie. Great memories. Oh how I miss that lady.
Sounds like the Kadett Rallye. I've always liked them. Rare as hen's teeth here in the States.
The only car I ever named was Hugo - named after the hurricane that dented every single panel. I used to enjoy getting it back from a valet and claiming it was in mint condition when I handed it over!
* At the Beginning of the video*
Me: Eh... Ferrari is nice.
Also me: OLIVERRRRRRRRR
James may:
*ItS oLiVer*
Hammond: I need this part.. I need that part.
Clarkson: He's refusing to take bits off his car... It would be like taking bits off his wife.
Discombobulated Gaming Hammond IS the wife! Lol!
I need that part
Some people take bits off their wives all the time.
Who else noticed Vettel was standing next an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio?!
Proof that it really is just a Ferrari saloon car.
Its the future telling us he'll follow Kimi's footsteps because of Charles...
Of course everyone noticed it. It's Scuderia's company car for both him and Leclerc.
Probably everyone who saw the video
Ferrari driver picking between a Ferrari and an “Oliver”.
That’s not biased at all
I don't think it's biased at all, obviously the ferrari is way better than the other car. I think most of the people would prefer ferrari as it's the superior car.

Oliver, the Toyota Hilux, and the Reliant Robin, are probably the most iconic vehicles of the OG Top Gear.

I love the way Hammond in all sincerity brought Oliver along lol, so great
There is no sincerity here friend. This was an advertisement paid for by Ferrari any other, even remotely comparable car was probably forbidden. Like a Mercedes for example. Cause they keep beating them on the formula track quite a lot. This was an ad and they lured us in with oliver. its smart but extremely insincere.
Reason to watch this video out of a hundred, Ferrari 458 Speciale 0, Oliver 100.
Michael Laing No
Michael Laing I like the Ferrari
Oliver 80, Alfa 20.
@@italianautomotiveenthusias931 In all measurable ways the 458 is a far superior car but anyone who saw the Top Gear episode where it crossed Africa, fell in love with the Oliver and some times that can mean more than technical excellence.
It warms my heart to see Seb doing something like this. Such a simple and genuine bloke. I hated him when he was in RB but I am rooting for him every time. Would love to hear that "Grazzi tutti" from the radio again
Santhosh Mallya even tho I also liked him in the RB years I also feel you. I am also waiting every race for the Grazie Ragazzi or Grazie Mille Forza Ferrari
I did not expect to see Seb in this video, but being a fan of him in his newer era especially, it warms my heart like you to see him doing content such as this. He’s a very down to earth guy and that comes off in his interviews especially
How does Richard manage to look small in a small car? 🤔
He would even be small in the p45 🤣🤣🤣
why hate on small people?

I actually really like the look of Oliver it looks like something out of a movie
I cannot believe this was filmed over a year ago, and it’s only just released.
How do you know?

what ?? How do you know ?
Was filmed after vettels win at Silverstone last year
There's only one Oliver, and there will ever be only one. That's what makes the difference here.
Unless Oliver was made by Ferrari, in which case there would be "ONLY 1".. and an extra 50
Except there's clearly more than one Oliver in this video, one with the OPEL be on the nose, a second for the close ups without the lettering. One Oliver? There isn't even just one Oliver in this video.
And Opel Kadetts are extremely rare.
DRIVETRIBE slowly turning into Top Gear/Grand Tour. Love it! :D
It is literally run by the face of the grand tour, who used to be the face of top gear xD
Honestly I would’ve chosen Oliver because of the bond between it and Hammond, the journey they went through with hardship and the fact he kept it after shows how much he loves the car. May just owns a Ferrari, there’s no bond there and he even says he never uses it
the way he flew Oliver back to England is so cute :')
Kaiipop can you send me the link to the video?
The Opel was shipped back by boat.
Got Bamboozled into watching a 10 minute add for Shell...
Yes, but did you emerge without a scratch? Weren't you just a little entertained? A smidge?
Besides, isn't everything on TV basically an ad for something else?
It wasn't a 10 minute add for Shell. It was a 10 minute tribute to Oliver.... with a Shell station making an appearance.
Add for Shell and Ferrari and Oliver comes out as the winner
The Botswana special is one of my faves
It was a really great adventure indeed. However, I still think that Patagonia Special has the best mountainous views, despite what happened after. IDK, I just love mountains I guess.

When the German said "who's Oliver?" I died laughing. How can they make such a small 10 minute video so hilarious? I love it
Honestly I would choose Oliver.
It's just the feeling. As he told it's about feelings.
I'd try to get the best of both world's. A classic with some memories and soul but with some modern pep or power.
yeah........... i wouldn't. to them, running super cars is normal, but to me it's would be both more exciting and more of a novelty. i have already driven a bunch of old shitboxes before. i even have my own "oliver" (this thing: i.ibb.co/G0vmvBj/20190919-141500.jpg - nevermind the stuff on it and the dirt, the sidewalk was being repaired so everything was a mess) and i love it, but i would trade it for a ferrari in a heartbeat, even knowing there are tons of ferraris like the one i would have and the car i'd be trading in for it is technically one-of-a-kind.
Oliver has proven reliability the Ferrari will probably break down when it even looks at a car park that isn't paved
May: This is a car made by people who do competition
Vettel: Yeah but they’re not giving me a car that can beat a Mercedes...
That's what upsets me about F1 racing. If every car was entirely the same, we'd really get to see who's best at racing.
@@derweiehelge9087 but you say the same about the cars, people want to see who can make the best car, and make the best designs and innovatives, but hey I understand Mercedes have been unchallenged for 6 years and it's boring they should get a way to make the performance gap smaller like from 2007-2013
@@DannyDom3 For me the way it is right now, it has simply lost it's charm. There's no real point in watching F1 because you know who will win if everything goes right anyway.

I have the exact same wiper issue with my 2000 Opel Corsa. Glad to see Opel maintaining the tradition.
I would take Oliver, something about an old car that has some character will always be preferred
That's why my dream car is a 1985 Toyota Sprinter Trueno. Yes it can't do 400 KM/H, yes it takes 8.6 seconds to get to only 100 KM/H... But something about it's beautiful little high revving i4 NA 4A-GE engine and its adorable little body with its dinky pop up headlights (very light too, weighs on 950 KG)... something about the AE86 is like, it's Japanese mountain-road born soul just clicks with me, like how Oliver's German tough survivalist soul when trekking the Makgadikgadi clicked with Hamster.
@@LavenderJJ_secret be honest you only want it because of initial d
yeah, my dad had a 1994 impreza that i really loved, i want to buy it sometime soon because we sold it few years back but now the owner is looking to sell it again, sure the back wheel would get stuck when going dangerous speeds and the body is mostly made up of rust but i loved that car.

Oliver is a living legend, you can't compare it to James's Ferrari
Yes it's on a whole other level and category.
I'd rather have Oliver myself he's just a happy little madlad
Love how James says that no one’s ever driven his car and it makes him slightly nervous. I don’t think I would be nervous to let a 4 time world champion drive my car lol
Then you don't have the kind of attachment to your car that he does. Pretty simple

You’re missing the point. Out of everyone on Earth. You’d trust a driver like a Formula 1 World Champion to drive your car. Probably moreso than yourself.

The guys are utterly honored to have Nikki drive it.
Let's not be naïve. "Nervous" is for the camera... the Vettel association and footage of it is adding value to his car by the second. I'd be surprised if he didn't ask Vettel to sign it somewhere - with a Sharpie he just happened to have in the glove box.
