I didn't know how well regarded the yellow and green Ezone DR was until a tennis instructor asked to buy mine, even though it is a DR Lite 100. But, as it was a gift, can't part with it even though I moved up to 300g+ racquet.
Sawaddee P Tan, New to tennis, first year playing. I play with Prince Tour 100p 2019, got hefty overspec but I like it. The only weapon to go fast /powerful is its heftiness. Til a friend showed up with DR98. Since it has similar balance I might as well try. Wow free power here n there, It bailed me in a lot of defensive situation. Even much higher than my wife’s pure drive teAm 21. Does ezone 98/dr supposed to have that much of free power?
Hi. There are many factors contributed to power. Could be string and tension. Could be type of swing. The oversized racket has easy power, meaning you can get power at slow racket headspeed or just half swing. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it hits harder for full swing fast racket headspeed, because the mass is lower. And yes the Ezone DR98 is a powerful racket that has a weird flex that feels like a spring and it contributes to higher power. Some people love it and say it’s the best Ezone, but I find it hard to control.
@@tantennis "The oversized racket has easy power, meaning you can get power at slow racket headspeed or just half swing. I played the DR98 for a couple of years, and it was a very good stick. Two things bothered me, however: - the frame flexes predominantly in the throat, with a firmer upper hoop. I prefer a more uniform flex - it was a bit unstable in stock form, and I had to add weight in the hoop to help stabilize it I did try the Ezone 2022 for an hour, and it felt they had fixed those two issues. It flexes uniformly and is quite stable in stock form. I also thought it had a tad more power, and this was apparent on serves mostly.
The DR has actually a perfect blend of power, control and feel. The newer are extremely dampened and have more free power, also lacking a bit of stability due to lower static and SW.
I am playing with the DR98 and thinking to switch to the 100 or 98. I feel the DR98 is quite demanding, I have to apply the perfect technique to each shoot and that make me lose confidence on tournaments, I would say is not forgiving. On the other hand I miss a more spin on the racquet. I am looking for something a bit more easy/forgiving than the DR98, about power with the DR98 I am fine I can generate enough power the problem become when applying the right technique with the power I need to provide more weight to the ball. I am an all court player and I like the racquet on the net where I feel really good, but need more confidence defending and attacking from the baseline. What do you think it fits more my game the 100 or 98?Thanks
I prefer the feel of the Blade v8. But if I have to play a single match, I would pick the Ezone 98, basically as it gives me more power and spin so I make less errors when tired.
@@tantennis thank you. I use the Blade V6 strung with Hyper G at 48 lbs but I find it very unforgiving, I lost control compared to when it was strung with synthetic gut at 55, most of my shots go long and when I slow down my effort I am getting killed by my opponents- any suggestion on a good string for this frame? I can generate my own power. Or should I just get a new racket?
@@darshanpatel5932 Got it. Have you tried Solinco Confidential? I don’t like it myself but all flat hitters around me love it. It’s underpowered than the hyper G and it could prevent overhitting pretty well. The string is stiffer but you can go lower tension and thinner gauge to open up the sweetspot and I believe depth control is still there. This could probably solve the forgiveness issue on defence.
Hey Tan. I'm a 3.5 player and have been using the 310g DR98 for about a year now. Love the plow through but it can feel a bit heavy after about 30-40 minutes of play. I hit a one handed backhand, and it's definitely my weak point. Getting better though. Would you recommend the new Ezone 100 or 98 if I were to switch?
I think you could feel the new Ezone 98 is more stable and consistent. And that 5g off does matter when playing a long game. Should you go for Ezone 100? I cannot say. It’s a very different racket. More powerful and head-heavier, and a lot easier to play with. You definitely should try it to see if it works for you and doesn’t feel weird on 1HBH. Most likely it should word tho.
Maybe you would really like the 2020 version. Similar hoop to the Dr. Less flexy like the 2022. Crisper like the Dr.

Yes. A lot of people like it but I prefer the new version more.
Good information , clearly and compact
Thanks for the support!

Totally agree with you. I also don’t like the throat flex. It’s hard to control the power. I prefer 2022 Ezone more than DR98.

If you want a bit more then 98 should be enough I think.

Would you lower the string tension on the dr 98 if you could? I'm planning on restringing mine with the tour bite soft too
I think it’s already good
Good and concise review, thanks.
Btw, what racket, string and tension does your hitting partner play with?
