Yeah i know my videos are a bit long.....lol actually I had to cut this down from almost 30 mins and i felt like i was cutting out a bunch of useful stuff too, that was pretty difficult haha
@@trentmccormick6171 Ah nah it was just extra details about experiences zone Tour , like a very underspec'd one, and alot of racquet comparisons which went over too many racquets and maybe dragged a little bit, which drifted off the current Ezone itself, but relevant maybe to only just the true tennis nerds lol
This is an extraordinary review. There were times where I thought you were reading my find when describing your on-court experiences with the EZONE. Looking forward to seeing more of your vids!
Thanks alot mate! didn't realize you have your own channel now, i've seen your courtside sports ones, love them - subbing to this one too, likewise looking forward to seeing yours
Man, thank you for your videos! Since you do spoken descriptions on your videos, I think you make one of the best detailed and contrasted reviews of racquets on youtube! You talk about every important aspect and compares it to other racquets, which is very helpful. I've discovered your channel after I already knew many others and I'm surprised that you aren't more popular... Keep on doing so!
Hahah thanks alot , ive been stung by alot of lockdowns in Australia which kept me from playing for months on end so the volume of videos just isnt there, plus they take forever and a whole lot of brain power to make so it's not easy to do weekly videos like others
Would love to see a comparison video between this and the 2023 radical mp! Excellent reviews, keep up the great work and thank you for your thoughtful insights!
@@ayokay123 EZ100 is alot thicker of a racquet, so it's going to provide alot more free stability and power , but alot less manoevurability For the most part very easy to use still, but doesn't suit my kind of stroke style that's quite large, loopy and ends with a whip, better for someone with a more efficient stroke type
@@ACTennis Out of curiosity, did you experience any arm/wrist/shoulder pain with the 98? I've read a number of complaints about it. He absolutely loved almost every aspect of the racquet, but highly recommended against purchase due to pain. Check out Mark Sansait's review.
@@ayokay123 No discomfort for me, i don't use stiff setups, i.e. tension is always under 50lbs and i use soft comfortable polys Only if were to play with it with a dead string, dead playing stiff poly, or high tension would i experience discomfort in possibly most racquets, but this one i think for the majority is comfortable enough Currently have Poly Tour Pro in it and it plays nicely
Watched this video twice now. First time before, second time after getting an Ezone Tour. Perfectly reviewed, I could not add anything or say differently. I am one of those who come from a control frame, and the benefits are clearly on point.
I just wanted to say you’re doing a great job! I love the way to produce your videos. You’re graphics are awesome! I’ll post the comment on your videos!
I'm actually interested in the Prestige MP (formerly Tour) because of Murray, i feel like the Prestige Pro will be similar enough to the last Prestige MP which i reviewed already, except they make Prestige's in Australia cost the highest when it's probably the lowest selling, it's kind of silly ($285 USD) , so i would have to demo them or something, usually i try to buy but if it's not super new model from previous version than i cant justify sinking it that kinda money lol
Thanks for the great videos. The descriptions are great and it's helpful that you describe your playing style (OHBH for instance, match play usage, etc.). I'm deciding between the vcore 95, vcore 98, and ezone 98. I like the 95, but have more mishits than I would like, the vcore 98 seems overly powerful (but I only hit it for one session), waiting to try the ezone, hoping that might be the goldilocks racquet.
Wow this is by far the best review on this racquet I have seen, very very comprehensive! I have used a Vcore 95 2021 for the last year and I find your comparison to be exactly what I was after as I admit I am struggling to be consistent enough with the 95. Cannot wait to demo this racquet! Would you recommend this to be with a hybrid or full poly setup?
I don't typically recommend string type setups because it will depends on what you trust the most yourself, if you're a poly user, than you probably have more difficulty playing with a hybrid and visa versa, so stick with what you're comfortable with , if no health problems, choose based on performance and feel - if you want it make it as close to the Vcore as you can, go for crisp strings - or if you like the comfort, just stay with soft polys or hybrids
Great review, excellent perspective with how the racquet performs, thanks. If possible, would welcome your review of the Wilson Blade V8 18x20 and/or Tecnifibre TF40 305 18x20.
I have the Tecnifibre TF40 16x19 , used to have the 18x20, they play similar in terms of feel, but sold it a while ago, i will see about making a video for it, i still have quite a few to get through Blade 18x20 is similar enough to my Blade reviews, but lower powered, lower launch angle, more precise
I really like the format of your review video's another Yonex I am keen to look at is the Vcore pro 97 310g that came out late last year so I will have to demo this racquet and new Ezone, fairly different racquets but you only know if you demo.
Thanks mate - i do have the VCP 310 already, i just grinded the hell out of this video lol, if i can i'll start recording for the EZ98 VC98 VCP310 comparison, will take some time though
Would you say the speed MP is more demanding but better for control and flat shots than this (esp with 1.30mm string at high tension)? Also, how would you say this compares to the radical MP? I hear both are versatile frames suited to aggressive players (inc. those who want to flatten shots). Great video regardless.
Awesome very in-depth review! I love my SV95 and ‘21 VC95 and this ‘22 EZ98 seems to be a great addition in my bag when I’m really tired! However, I am not a thick beam larger headsize kind of guy, as I often found them to be cumbersome and less precise. Compared to your ‘18 VC95, which is smaller and thinner, did you have a noticeable adjustment period with the ‘22 EZ98?
If it's a low swingweight, i dont have any adjustments all, literally picked it up and played quite well - as you add weight to this, then it will become slower than the VC95 by quite alot, since it is fairly thick in the middle, but not sure if it's just the paint job that masks it, but you really don't notice the thickness very much in my view (just visually i mean) But i'm same as you, i can't use Ezone 100s, pure drives and stuff to great effect just because they are so thick and i need alot of swing speed to play my technique out
Excellent comprehensive review of the racquet with high production values. I appreciated the organization, attention to details, and high quality graphics to accompany the narration. Subscribed!
First, this is by far the best racquet review video I’ve seen! Thanks for your comprehensive and detailed approach. Second, I am playing with the DR at 350gm/SW 326/Bal 31.2 and it is almost perfect. My only problem is I have only 2. So, I want to find something that provides at least the same comfort (have long term elbow problems) and the same power. I’ve used the Ezone since Xi (too stiff for me now), Ai (not enough power), and now DR. Only improvements I could ask for over Dr are more serve power and slightly higher launch angle on the FH, without losing the slice and the ability to flatten things out. Is this or the previous version what I am looking for? If not, another Yonex? I can’t demo racquets where I live. So, I have to rely on multiple reviews and opinions for making a decision and Andy from TW is the one who helped me to select my previous racquets. In his recent video to replace the Dr, he chose the previous gen, but that was before the new release. So, I am inclined to stay with the Ezones, but would like to know what you think.
Most consensus of people who swear by the DR, is that it's impossible to replace, but i'm not racquet sensitive, no matter what racquet you choose you are going to give up something in compensation to gain for something else I can't really recommend something on such specifics because they are attuned to your playstyle and feel, i can only recommend something based on overall general characteristics that you'd want from a racquet - DR was probably a bit more plow, stability (higher stock weight), and better feel - this one is going to be more controlled and subpar feel, perhaps faster in air - DR was also probably better at serving but launch angle may be slightly higher on 2022 If you are going to switch to anything, keep an open mindset, you will never get anything close to your old favourites, but there is alot of good quality stuff available and you just have to find reasons to love something else without comparison, otherwise you probably should avoid the switch, as you might not ever be really satisfied
Amazing review. I just picked one up. What was your favorite set up? Right now I have mine with a fairway leather grip (no OG), 4g total @ 2/10 with PTP yellow and 2g dampener. Static: 338 balance 31.6 Swing 325 Recoil 167.
U hitting good with new Ezone, guess it fits you well, Review is so detailed and I fully agree with you on "controlled power". I am looking forward to new Ezone tour as well. Overall, a big improvement from ez 20.
Thanks buddy, i wonder what they're take on the Ezone Tour will be this time around, last one was made because it was supposed to be heavy and softer, but this one is already more dampened, so just a heavier version i guess lol - extended length might actually be more interesting to me this time around
@@ACTennis the ezone tour is an interesting one for me. It’s a little cumbersome sometimes, but if you have the strength and footwork to swing it over and over, the plow through and solid feeling you get with it can be somewhat addicting.
Great review. Totally agree with the analysis. Regarding the spin potential, the string-bed comes in at 1.25cm2 average cell size on my rating, which is definitely at the small end of 16x19s. In fact, some 18x20s are the same (6.1 Team). Weirdly the 16x19 PS97 has one of the most open string-beds (1.45cm2), but doesn't give much spin, so I guess other things lead to spin too.
@@ACTennis Yes I concur. In fact I would say 90%+ of spin is due to swing speed, then 10% is determined by strings and frame characteristics. I hit with a 250g racket the other day and found incredible spin, when I could keep the ball in the court!
They are a little difficult to come by in Australia, i know if i buy them brand new it'd be hard to resell them even half the price, which would put a dent in my future tests lol - if i can one cheap i'll definitely be interested to pick one up
Nice video. As a VCore 98 player myself I recently tried the VCore Pro 97 and was a bit astonished as to how confortable it felt. Didn't lack any power at all, in fact was the opposite. I could do full swings more relaxed. So I just bought a EZone 98 because well, now I need to compare these 3 myself :D From your reviews looks like it's gonna be a nice option.
While my main racquet has been the weighted Vcore 95 2018, I have been using Ezone 98 Tour lately and totally agree with your comparison, more forgiveness and power without losing too much control, and I somehow appreciate this especially against big hitters and matchplay.. feel of Vcore 95 is hard to match anyways in general. I am a bit worried as many have had arm issues with Tour , so far I am ok since I string low and play either with soft poly or hybrid. But I was wondering if you would weight this up , how it would compare to Ezone Tour? i think you like the lower swingweight, but from a comfort point of view? Not sure they have a new Tour coming out...
Comfort point of view is will be more dampened and plush from memory, it should 'feel' better for arm and shoulder, but whether or not that VDM is just hiding the stiffness and it reveals itself later is yet to be seen A weighted one would play if anything more similar than not, maybe if you can leverage the higher swingweight still with your strength than power is attainable, but i didn't use the EZ Tour long term because i lost too much swing speed
@@ACTennis thanks for the feedback, prefer heavy swingweights but the previous version was already dampened so not sure about this version... will probably go back to the vcore 95 2018 at some point
Thanks again for yet another detailed, entertaining review. Would you say this version is closer to the DR when compared to the last couple of iterations? Played with the DR98+ for a while but the high swing weight(for me) ended up getting the better of me! Still in the bag, comes out when the hit is relatively brief and arm fatigue doesn’t have time to set in.🙂
I have the old TF40, new one I'll consider it - actually unless it's changed (which i doubt) the Solinco Whiteout is actually just a TF40 305 with a 16x19 pattern, not sure about the composition they use , may or may not be different, but i think the shape is the same
@@ACTennis What are your thoughts of the the old TF40 18x20 305 grms? I really want to buy that one, it seems a better Pure Strike or Blade with 18x20 string pattern....Thanks again
@@diegoeste14 Hmmm really depended on the string that i used, if i put in a nice soft one, even quite thin, it played very very good, for a couple of strings that i did put in, i didnt play so well with it I used MSV Focus Hex Soft 1.10mm (was good) My normal Tour Bite 1.15mm didnt work out so great, can't remember the other ones i tried
How would you compare the Ezone 2022 and Extreme Tour from a control, feel and launch angle perspectives? Which one would you trust more for tournament match?
My gamestyle would typically match this Ezone much better than the Extreme Tour unless i use a smooth string on the Extreme Tour like Alupower, that gives me more options to flatten out the ball but also impart spin due to the frame itself Control goes to Ezone if you hit a bit flatter, Extreme Tour if you're a heavy spinner, feel is better on the Extreme Tour in my opinion, but i would prefer to play with something a bit softer because of my past issues, but it didn't cause me any problems when i played with it - launch angle with Extreme tour is much higher, Ezone is pretty standard 16x19 i.e. pure strike, blade
@@ACTennis I am quite surprise that you found the EZONE has lower launch ankle than the ET. The ET has a tighter 16x19 in the center of the string bed. So do you find the ET harder to hit flat shots as they are easier to go long?
@@clarencefong1107 Was just saying in another comment that ET play is affected alot more by the string you use, when i went with a spin poly it was very spinny and higher launch, but when i use a smoother power poly, it will flatten out more, but i think because ET has better spin capabilities in general than the launch will typically bit at least a bit higher
Both have good control, but Ezone is more spin control for consistency and Prince ATS is more of a line drive precision control for flat hitters, it doesn't have alot of free spin
I felt I needed to increase stability and power of the ezone and I am looking at adding weight (which I've never done before) at 10 and 2. Which cross should the tape be centered around? Great video.
Probably wont make a huge difference if it's slight across , maybe say starting from the 4 or 5th main from the top and draping over from that as the start position
Hrrm really might come down to playstyle for me, they can probably do similar things for most people, except maybe the serve is an unmatchable component to ezones, which is just too important - feel and spin obviously to the extreme tour so if your game is more dedicated to that, ET might be the better choice
I may be getting my hands on new Speed MP soon, but i personally prefer the Ezone because of its speed through the air, also one of the best serving racquets on market and i rely heavily on my serve - great control, ability to generate power when needed, enough spin Speed MP is going to do mainly similar things to be honest, but id generally prefer the smaller head if i was given the choice, you cant go wrong with the Speed MP - the only thing is the swingweight because of quality control can get out of hand for some people in stock form - so if you decide to buy one, make sure you get it pre measured
Hi, thanks for a great review.💪🎾 Do yo think this ezone98 could be good transition from my old friends YONEX RDS001 mp (98, 315gr, 310 balance , 16/19)?
Thanks Gerardo, i havne't personally played with the RDS001 but the specs as you mention are quite similar, the good thing about the Ezone is that it is a very versatile racquet that suits alot of playstyles, so even if you may not be totally familiar with it, you should be able to adapt to it quite well if you are confident with your strokes
If you don't mind, I have a questions to ask. I currently use a Wilson blade 16x19, but I find that it lacks stability and spin for my style of play. I occasionally hit with a combination of fast spin and heavy spin; would this racquet be better suited to my aggressive style of play than the Wilson blade?
Blade needs weight to be added to make it more stable, Ezone does aswell, but not as much because the sides of the racquet are thicker, so it provides a bit more free stability, but it has alot more spin than the Blade by far yes, and if your swing suits it, then very fast through the air
Which string setup and lead placement did you like the most? I gave this stick a second try with different strings on the demo and some lead and it made a huge difference. Just bought 3, coming from my Blade V8 18x20’s leaded up.
Hi mate, Thanks for the most comprehensive review, a lot of comparison and details from every angle makes it really great, and understandable👍really enjoy to watch that . How would you compare these racket to vcore pro 97 310g new ? Im thinking to get both of them and test , but i will definitely bump up the swing weight up to my preferred 326- 330.
Thanks alot! VCP is going to be more Pro Staff like in terms of playability, so obviously need to work alot harder for every ball to make pace and spin, but the pace and spin potential is a decent step above the Pro Staff, but very soft feel, like amazingly soft, pretty decent sweet spot size compared to PS97 for it's kind of racquet category - very good for aggressive players that need to control their power
Thanks! Solinco Revolution is actually really nice for my normal strings, my usual go to is hyper g soft, but i think i would actually prefer the Revolution but the tension loss was a little fast
@@ramz8248 Close to stock form, i got underspec'd at 310 SW, so 318 was pretty solid , and mid 320s is also good, probably needed for the stability if you play someone who hits very very hard
@@ACTennis In a racquet like this, or my VS, light and fast, Babolat RPM Power or Yonex PT Rev do wonders. Try if you haven't already. Rev does ask for fast swinging but it's great. I hope you try them and upcoming Alu Vibe, and do a comparison video. Best modern strings for fast play, all well dampened, zero harshness, so no worries there.
@@userdjee834 Solinco has been my go to due to price, never had issues with their strings normally, except for 1.25mm Tour Bite which is totally breaks my wrist (1.15m is very good to me) - the amount of restringing ill do would be a bit pricey for PT Rev or RPM PWR, but i do have a reel of PWR, not my cup of tea though - i'll try Rev if it's on sale lol
@@ACTennis Great video. I demoed the Yonex vcore 98 from tw today. Great stick, high launch angle. I want to try the ezone 98. How does it compare to the score 98?
@@ACTennis good timing, I'm demoing vcore 98, vcore 97 pro right now. I'll have ezone 98 next week . Besides tennis warehouse, do you recommend any other racquet demo programs and do you have any suggestions on where to sell used tennis racquets?
if you end up demoing the 2022 Head Speed MP can you please compare it to the 2022 Ezone 98 because I'm struggling to decide which one I should buy? I am playing with both the 2020 speed mp and 2020 Ezone 98 at the moment but I want to switch to just one of them. thanks
Might consider buying it, but in general Speed MP will just have more forgiveness, more power, bit less control and better feel to put it briefly, at least these two new models anyway, previous i assume speed might have had better control but i havent played with the speed for a while
Hello AC! Hope all is going very well! Could you please help me out? Which is the softest, most flexible, least powerful and most controlled Ezone 98 so far? I was thinking this ranking: Ai 2014 Dr 2015 2017 2020 2022 Xi 2012
I don't really make suggestions between two racquets, it's personal preference based on level and game style - i like my ezone because i serve best with it, has a bit more power, bit more spin, similar control, easier to swing for my forehand style
I currently have a 2020 version with 3g (total) lead tape added to 3 & 9 but I mostly play with the Tour version of it (315g) since it helps more with pick-ups and my single-handed backhand when I'm under pressure. I recently tried the 305 again and felt better than before so I bought the 2022 one to give it a go. Compared to the 2020 do you think I should add lead tape again? Originally the lead boosted my backhand.
Generally it sounds like thats what you are comfortable with, you seem to prefer higher swingweight and more free stability, and are strong enough to handle the higher weights I keep it low because ill be late with my swing otherwise, and my deep block pick up off the 1 hander is probably one of my best timed shots so no issues for me stability wise Just experiment a bit, a session or two with and without weight should be able to tell you if you prefer it
Hello! You mentioned the head speed mp, but I wanted to clarify: are you saying this is a good racket to transition into FROM the speed mp for something more advanced, but not crazy advanced? If so, that's exactly why I'm interested. I'm finding the speed mp too powerful and light/unstable at the moment, but still only have ~4.0 level technique so am for a more control-oriented racket that still has some access to power and maneuverability.
How would you recommend this racquet for someone who currently swings a tf40(previous gen)? I feel like I'm getting plenty of power, but could use a bit more control and spin so I don't hit past the baseline quite so much. Technique needs to improve of course, but I'm wondering if the 16x19 might help me, who has a very moderate spin groundstroke style.
Doubt you'll get more control on the Ezone compared to a TF40 18x20, maybe the manoeuvrability might help you more from being too late and such , more spin sure - more control, doubtful over a TF40 18x20 . unless you would prefer heavy spin for control, which is also technique based, then cant think of many frames more controlled, would be be like 95sqin or Prestiges etc.
Thanks! I do get a little late with the tf40 as sessions go on, so I realize a lower swing weight may suit me where I'm at more. The solinco whiteout and a radical mp have been my faster swinging backup frames lately, but this one seems to offer a little more free offense :)
I prefer Pure Strike, i like the free power and still has quite good control, Aux Rad is a bit more of a tamed racquet - i still use Gravity Pro 2019 original model
I demoed this racquet and while I liked some aspects (like maneuverability and power) I found the racquet to be very unstable and muted compared to my Prince Textreme Tour 310. I also feel that the VDM in yonex "hides" the stiffness as I felt sore in my arm after playing the ezone.
Bit difficult compare racquets of 2 different swingweights, since the Prince is heavier with higher swingweight, so there's alot more free stability, Ezone is not necessary stable like those kinds of racquets, but for it's low swingweight and good timing, does pretty decent Agree with the VDM, though demo probably had dead strings in it, which dead strings in any racquet can cause issues for me, i feel it in the Ezone when they lose it's lifespan before breakage, so that's when i know it's time to cut it out
i really like my vcore95 2018, do you think i should upgrade to a vcore 98 or ezone 98 2022? I am currently trying to improve my game, and want more depth on my shots
Really depends on your level and skill - talking about improving your game, if you are being guided by a great coach or someone with technical knowledge, then the vcore 95 could be a very good racquet to use as a training tool because it handles easy but you still need good technique to use it and flaws will be exposed more If you just want an easier racquet to play with because you struggle with it as is, then yeah they can be good options to try
Hi. Am currently playing with the pure aero tour 315g (which has quite a bit of power and spin) but am looking for a more control racket with a thinner beam width than the aero. I like to hit with top spin on forehand and rather flat on one handed backhand Could you suggest some rackets that you would recommend? Is ezone 98 one of them.
Thanks for such a detailed review. Would love to hear your thoughts on how this compares to the 2020 Ezone 98 Tour. I honeymooned with that racquet, but the stiffness (shoulder issues) and lack of feel pushed me away from it, despite the forgiveness and somewhat controllable power.
What i removed from the video was how i talked about playing with a low swingweight Ezone Tour when i initially tested it, only 320 SW, and i thought it played alot better than the 2020 version, softer and more controlled - so this actually reminds me of that, but maybe still less power and more control I would have considered switching to EZ Tour if the SWs were better or if it was more headlight, at only 4 pts, i was way too slow with it at 332 swingweight - so this is kind of like it's successor in that sense - feel is kinda meh though
@@userdjee834 I only bought the EZ Tour before because it was claiming softer layup than the standard, this time around i don't see what the purpose would be if it's just a heavier version, for me i'd like to be able to spec it up exactly the way i need
@@ACTennis Yonex first experimented with stiff hoop/flexy throat in the Regna, then dark blue/orange VCP and then Ezone 2020. That didn't work all that well, stiffer hoops didn't match well with >24kg etc. It seems they corrected that now. Personally I didn't like EzT, it was immediately obvious that it's way too slow and clunky. I'm now very happy with aero VS, will try this Ez98, but I'm not interested in the upcoming EzT at all, I was just being dumbish and stating the obvious, that this Ez98 should best be compared to the upcoming EzT, not the old one
In doubt between the Ezone 98 and the Vcore Pro 97 (well, and the Ezone 98). I'm a fairly advanced player, big forehand, really bad 2-hand backhand, can generate some power on my own but in my 30s have started getting a bit of elbow pain.

@@AJPHIL-bt4me Thanks alot mate, wish you all the best in your journey Here in the review, what i mention is that the vcore is probably better for 1 handed backhand , but the ezone is more forgiving so it may make it easier to play with, the ezone should be all around an easier racquet to play with, and much better for serving than the vcore 95, so then its kind of up to whether you think this would help you more or not I also have the vcore 95 flame red, but i will play better with the ezone 98
Hi ! Inm looking to Switch from a blade 98 v7 16 19. What would I benefit with this one ? (Stability, spin, touch, 2hbh that is n'ont great with my blade) I also had an extrême tour but felt to stiff ar Times. Thx
You'll get a faster swing speed for all strokes, more control, but personally i think less power because the blade will be heavier in the swingweight, stability may be less because this racquet is lower swingweight aswell, but you benefit alot from how manoeuvrable and easy it is to use - it wont be as soft as v7, but definitely more than exteme tour
This racket is significantly better (more powerful & accurate) on serve compared to the 2021 VC 95 even at a lower SW. Is it something special about the way they design this frame to make it serve well? It's not extended or anything so im trying to figure out the reasoning behind it, haha.
Hah yeah absolutely, all ezone shapes are just aerodynamic and powerful, it's very easy to swing and controllable in your hand so you can target anything
Can't give you a suggestion if i don't how how you play or know what you want or like, sounds like if you play with pure aero you'd be happier with ezone instead of vcore pro
Hello, i want to choose between 2 racquets, ezone 98 2022 or the blade v6 no countervail, my weakest shot is my serve, missing long and slice being too floaty, i have good strikes but not very good consistency, sometimes miss long, curently im using the babolat pure drive, which one out of the 2 do you think it's better for me ? if you have other recomendation please tell me
Blade v6 no countervail will be a good balance between the ezone and your pure drive, not too far into one direction, but still have good power, good spin, good for serving, and will teach you how to play a little more properly without the pure drive
VS has more accessible power at full swings, the thinner beam and slightly smaller head size will also allow it to be controlled aswell, i would rate it in similar range of control, ezone had better control by accessing spin, VS will flatten out more effectively
@@ACTennis thanks! I find that I have a hard time flattening out my shots with the Ezone. I have the VS but I did not string it with the same string setup with my Ezone, I should probably try it with the same string setup. I just compared it to my CX400 tour and find it low powered so havent used it since.
@@ACTennis I agree with you on that. It was the first thing I noticed when i tried to drive the ball for a winner and ended up a ball with spin despite the right swingpath.
VCP97 310 is more like a softer Pro Staff if anything, it's going require 100% real technique, obviously lower power, more control, heavier feeling - although this Ezone is maybe difficult for the more lower intermediates, i still think the way it swings people could get away with playing with it at a variety of levels
Actually do like the string, but i can't tell yet if it's the racquet or the string that loses playability fast, but Hyper G Soft and Revolution died in playability without the strings wearing much once the tension dropped, as did it in the Vcore 98 with revolution, almost like it has....something to do with these 2 Yonex racquets rather than the string itself
Wouldn't really say so, new one is faster because it's lighter, dampened and muted feel, pretty controlled but still has some good power Xi swingweight by default is higher, more beefy feeling, more raw feeling and stiffer
Pro staff - low, power, control, less spin, heavier to move, in my opinion has bit nicer feel, requires better technique and skill, much more self generation to use well
I haven't personally tried the Pro 100 yet, my assumption would be at least a little more powerful than the Pro 100 because it's thicker, but there's alot of control in Ezone still, so maybe quite similar with control
Can you put the vcore95 n ezone98 on top of each other ..only difference is vcore95 is smaller near the throat area ..if you hit near the bottom if the head then avoid vcore95 ..
@@ACTennis can you overlay the rakets ,,,you Will be suprised they are same size....Vcore95 is also sligjt larger top of ftame...when measured inside frame
@@mteca5093 The bottom of half of the VC95 is slightly shorter than the Ezone, very slightly (bottom of the hoop up until the sides up to about 3&9 o'clock)
Really depends what your game style is, and what you prefer Flat? spin? serve volley? doubles only? do you have arm problems with stiffness or anything?
It means that when the ball hits the strings, it's hard to tell which part of the racquet you hit, like whether you hit in the middle, off to the side, at the top of the frame etc This feedback allows people to adjust their swing or timing because they know they arent hitting it in the middle then, some racquets dont provide people this feeling which is why it will called muted For me it doesnt bother me, but theres alot of people that it does bother
Acquited taste probably, i think it probably suits different playing styles, DR will have more power and plow, this is more on the control end of these range of racquets
Super professional review as you always do! :) send me a pm with an address and I’ll send you a couple sets of poly tour Rev, the least I can do to give back a little for all you fantastic insights and hard work.
Much appreciated mate! glad you enjoyed it - that's super nice of you, that sounds expensive though for postage costs since i'm in AU, - can't remember if you were too? YT doesn't have a DM system anymore, you can send me an e-mail if you want in the description - if you aren't in AU, it'll be too expensive, i wouldn't worry about it haha - really appreciate the thought, really kind
Generally i don't recommend tension because it's usually very personal but i string at 46-48lbs depending on weather with full poly, if it is a more control racquet with tight string pattern, i will string 40-42lbs

You’re the greatest racket reviewer on the internet!! I can’t help watching your videos with excitement!!
Appreciate that alot, thanks mate
Man, what an incredibly thorough review. Thanks!!
Glad you liked it, thanks!
@@ACTennis Ever hit with the 2022 EZ 100? How do you think it would compare?
@@ayokay123 EZ100 is alot thicker of a racquet, so it's going to provide alot more free stability and power , but alot less manoevurability
For the most part very easy to use still, but doesn't suit my kind of stroke style that's quite large, loopy and ends with a whip, better for someone with a more efficient stroke type
@@ACTennis Out of curiosity, did you experience any arm/wrist/shoulder pain with the 98? I've read a number of complaints about it. He absolutely loved almost every aspect of the racquet, but highly recommended against purchase due to pain. Check out Mark Sansait's review.
@@ayokay123 No discomfort for me, i don't use stiff setups, i.e. tension is always under 50lbs and i use soft comfortable polys
Only if were to play with it with a dead string, dead playing stiff poly, or high tension would i experience discomfort in possibly most racquets, but this one i think for the majority is comfortable enough
Currently have Poly Tour Pro in it and it plays nicely
Literally the best and most easily absorbed review ever!!
Thanks for the kind words 😁
Watched this video twice now. First time before, second time after getting an Ezone Tour.
Perfectly reviewed, I could not add anything or say differently.
I am one of those who come from a control frame, and the benefits are clearly on point.
Thanks Sebastian, glad we have similar experiences 😁means im not too far off haha
Great review. Thanks a lot. Will definitely try this racket.

Thank you very much 😁 means alot!
Fire editing and amazing content, man. Keep it up.
Would love to hear your take on the new prestige pro!
Sounds like the Ezone could be the right fit, then it might just depend if you like the shape of the frame and the way it matches your swing
Just a superb quality review. Keep it up!
Thanks Bruno, you're around for every release, champ 😁
@@ACTennis Yeah fairly good answer! I found with my Vcore 95 I got more feedback, comfort and power with a hybrid so I will stick with that.
this was very informative, good video mate, bought mine today
Many thanks! hope it comes in spec, otherwise mess around with it a little bit , and i'm sure you should enjoy it once you find your setup
Yeah could be good, I had the 2018 model the green colour, I loved it, needed the upgrade
Great review, excellent perspective with how the racquet performs, thanks. If possible, would welcome your review of the Wilson Blade V8 18x20 and/or Tecnifibre TF40 305 18x20.
I have the Tecnifibre TF40 16x19 , used to have the 18x20, they play similar in terms of feel, but sold it a while ago, i will see about making a video for it, i still have quite a few to get through
Blade 18x20 is similar enough to my Blade reviews, but lower powered, lower launch angle, more precise
Professional reviewer. Thanks.
Appreciate it Michael
If it's a low swingweight, i dont have any adjustments all, literally picked it up and played quite well - as you add weight to this, then it will become slower than the VC95 by quite alot, since it is fairly thick in the middle, but not sure if it's just the paint job that masks it, but you really don't notice the thickness very much in my view (just visually i mean)
But i'm same as you, i can't use Ezone 100s, pure drives and stuff to great effect just because they are so thick and i need alot of swing speed to play my technique out
Excellent comprehensive review of the racquet with high production values. I appreciated the organization, attention to details, and high quality graphics to accompany the narration. Subscribed!
Very kind words, thank you very much, feedback means alot 😊
Most consensus of people who swear by the DR, is that it's impossible to replace, but i'm not racquet sensitive, no matter what racquet you choose you are going to give up something in compensation to gain for something else
I can't really recommend something on such specifics because they are attuned to your playstyle and feel, i can only recommend something based on overall general characteristics that you'd want from a racquet - DR was probably a bit more plow, stability (higher stock weight), and better feel - this one is going to be more controlled and subpar feel, perhaps faster in air - DR was also probably better at serving but launch angle may be slightly higher on 2022
If you are going to switch to anything, keep an open mindset, you will never get anything close to your old favourites, but there is alot of good quality stuff available and you just have to find reasons to love something else without comparison, otherwise you probably should avoid the switch, as you might not ever be really satisfied
Composition of racquet and shape is two big ones, then string density / spacing probably
@@ACTennis Yes I concur. In fact I would say 90%+ of spin is due to swing speed, then 10% is determined by strings and frame characteristics. I hit with a 250g racket the other day and found incredible spin, when I could keep the ball in the court!
I am coming from a Pure Aero Tour and searched for more control. Added 4 gramms at 3 and 9 and 3 grams in the grip. Perfect
Glad you found what you were looking for, it's definitely a great frame 😁
Fantastic review as usual. I'd love to see what you think of the Diadem Elevates. Maybe you can get a hold of some!
Comfort point of view is will be more dampened and plush from memory, it should 'feel' better for arm and shoulder, but whether or not that VDM is just hiding the stiffness and it reveals itself later is yet to be seen
A weighted one would play if anything more similar than not, maybe if you can leverage the higher swingweight still with your strength than power is attainable, but i didn't use the EZ Tour long term because i lost too much swing speed
Still in the bag, comes out when the hit is relatively brief and arm fatigue doesn’t have time to set in.🙂
Still just a revised version of previous one really, they both serve different purposes of playstyle
Grear review! will you review the Tecnifibre TF40 18x20 and 16x9? thanks!
@@diegoeste14 Hmmm really depended on the string that i used, if i put in a nice soft one, even quite thin, it played very very good, for a couple of strings that i did put in, i didnt play so well with it
I used MSV Focus Hex Soft 1.10mm (was good)
My normal Tour Bite 1.15mm didnt work out so great, can't remember the other ones i tried
This makes me want to give it a try.
Worth a shot 😁 gonna take it into tournament next week, see how that goes lol
How would you compare the Ezone 2022 and Extreme Tour from a control, feel and launch angle perspectives? Which one would you trust more for tournament match?
My gamestyle would typically match this Ezone much better than the Extreme Tour unless i use a smooth string on the Extreme Tour like Alupower, that gives me more options to flatten out the ball but also impart spin due to the frame itself
Control goes to Ezone if you hit a bit flatter, Extreme Tour if you're a heavy spinner, feel is better on the Extreme Tour in my opinion, but i would prefer to play with something a bit softer because of my past issues, but it didn't cause me any problems when i played with it - launch angle with Extreme tour is much higher, Ezone is pretty standard 16x19 i.e. pure strike, blade
@@ACTennis I see thanks so much for your point of view.
Hi, really enjoy and appreciate your videos! How would you compare this to the Radical pro?
Rad is more unforgiving, low powered, less spin, rad is very controlled and advanced racquet
Thanks for the wonderful review. A question, how do you put the ezone 98 in general terms and control compared to the Prince ATS tour 98 Thanks
Very nice review. which racket is more versatile in your eyes. the head extreme tour or this ezone 98?
Hrrm really might come down to playstyle for me, they can probably do similar things for most people, except maybe the serve is an unmatchable component to ezones, which is just too important - feel and spin obviously to the extreme tour so if your game is more dedicated to that, ET might be the better choice
Thx a lot for the competent answer👍It rewly helps me
Great Review. I'd love to know which mod you preferred? Or were you happy with it in stock form?
Anything in stock average swingweight or 325 and lower was perfectly fine for me
What racquet are you currently using?
Great video again, right up there with the best reviews for sure 🙂
Ty 😁 using Gravity Pro as a main and sometimes Pure Strike as a secondary choice as tournament racquets
Do you prefer speed mp or ezone 98 and for what reasons? thanks for in depth reviews you gained a sub!
I may be getting my hands on new Speed MP soon, but i personally prefer the Ezone because of its speed through the air, also one of the best serving racquets on market and i rely heavily on my serve - great control, ability to generate power when needed, enough spin
Speed MP is going to do mainly similar things to be honest, but id generally prefer the smaller head if i was given the choice, you cant go wrong with the Speed MP - the only thing is the swingweight because of quality control can get out of hand for some people in stock form - so if you decide to buy one, make sure you get it pre measured
@@ACTennis Thx for the great info
Hi, thanks for a great review.💪🎾
Do yo think this ezone98 could be good transition from my old friends YONEX RDS001 mp (98, 315gr, 310 balance , 16/19)?
@@ACTennis thank you so much for the intel
Could you make a racquet ranking table based on your overall scores?
I actually do keep a full list of all the retail racquets ive tested, ill look to share it at some point
Which string setup and lead placement did you like the most? I gave this stick a second try with different strings on the demo and some lead and it made a huge difference. Just bought 3, coming from my Blade V8 18x20’s leaded up.
1g lead at 12 and leather grip was all i needed to make it play a ton better for me
Hi mate,
Thanks for the most comprehensive review, a lot of comparison and details from every angle makes it really great, and understandable👍really enjoy to watch that .
Which mod setup was your favorite out of all of them? Wonderfully in depth review btw!
i only needed 1g at 12 to increase swingweight by 4-5pts and then leather grip to make it 342grams strung, kept it fast, but light enough for my style
@@ACTennis thx
@@ACTennis Hey I thought 1g at 12 only boosted the SW by 3 pts. Is this different with yonex rackets?
@@NewWaveAfros Yeah correct i think i just recorded my specs down wrong lol
Awesome review, what was your favorite weight and string setup?
Thanks! Solinco Revolution is actually really nice for my normal strings, my usual go to is hyper g soft, but i think i would actually prefer the Revolution but the tension loss was a little fast
@@ACTennis cool, did you enjoy the racket most in stock form?

Might consider buying it, but in general Speed MP will just have more forgiveness, more power, bit less control and better feel to put it briefly, at least these two new models anyway, previous i assume speed might have had better control but i havent played with the speed for a while
Hi there, I noticed these are filmed in Melbourne (Boorandara). May I ask where the indoor courts are? I’ve been trying to find one. Thank you!

Hello AC! Hope all is going very well! Could you please help me out? Which is the softest, most flexible, least powerful and most controlled Ezone 98 so far?
I was thinking this ranking:
Ai 2014
Dr 2015
2017
2020
2022
Xi 2012
Probably the Ai98 i think
@@ACTennis thank you!!
Hi do you prefer the speed pro you reviewed if this ezone 98 ? What's your suggestion
Generally it sounds like thats what you are comfortable with, you seem to prefer higher swingweight and more free stability, and are strong enough to handle the higher weights
I keep it low because ill be late with my swing otherwise, and my deep block pick up off the 1 hander is probably one of my best timed shots so no issues for me stability wise
Just experiment a bit, a session or two with and without weight should be able to tell you if you prefer it
Both actually, Speed MP is a good transition from Pure Drive, and then Ezone 98 is a step above the Speed MP for same reason
@@ACTennis brilliant, thanks so much for the very precise and clear review!
Which racket would u choose between this, the pure strike vs and radical auxtic mp? And what racket Are u currently using?
I prefer Pure Strike, i like the free power and still has quite good control, Aux Rad is a bit more of a tamed racquet - i still use Gravity Pro 2019 original model
I demoed this racquet and while I liked some aspects (like maneuverability and power) I found the racquet to be very unstable and muted compared to my Prince Textreme Tour 310.
I also feel that the VDM in yonex "hides" the stiffness as I felt sore in my arm after playing the ezone.
Bit difficult compare racquets of 2 different swingweights, since the Prince is heavier with higher swingweight, so there's alot more free stability, Ezone is not necessary stable like those kinds of racquets, but for it's low swingweight and good timing, does pretty decent
Agree with the VDM, though demo probably had dead strings in it, which dead strings in any racquet can cause issues for me, i feel it in the Ezone when they lose it's lifespan before breakage, so that's when i know it's time to cut it out
i really like my vcore95 2018, do you think i should upgrade to a vcore 98 or ezone 98 2022?
I am currently trying to improve my game, and want more depth on my shots
Really depends on your level and skill - talking about improving your game, if you are being guided by a great coach or someone with technical knowledge, then the vcore 95 could be a very good racquet to use as a training tool because it handles easy but you still need good technique to use it and flaws will be exposed more
If you just want an easier racquet to play with because you struggle with it as is, then yeah they can be good options to try
Probably could try the Pure Aero VS if anything, Ezone is a great racquet too but maybe you'd rather the spin from the VS
Hi ! You recommend to swap Babolat Pure Drive Vs with Ezone 98 for mor control and power !?
More control yes, more power no, cant have both at the same time 🙂
@ACTennis - which one you prefer and which one would you take to competition: 2022 Head Speed Pro or EZONE 98?
Ezone 98 suits me better, serve is unmatched, light and fast for high racquet head speed, can't go too wrong
What i removed from the video was how i talked about playing with a low swingweight Ezone Tour when i initially tested it, only 320 SW, and i thought it played alot better than the 2020 version, softer and more controlled - so this actually reminds me of that, but maybe still less power and more control
I would have considered switching to EZ Tour if the SWs were better or if it was more headlight, at only 4 pts, i was way too slow with it at 332 swingweight - so this is kind of like it's successor in that sense - feel is kinda meh though
@@ACTennis thanks! My 98 Tour definitely feels sluggish, even for it's swing weight imo. I only play with it when I'm feeling super fresh 😅
Don't forget that new 2022 Ezone Tour is arriving in 3-4 months or so
@@userdjee834 I only bought the EZ Tour before because it was claiming softer layup than the standard, this time around i don't see what the purpose would be if it's just a heavier version, for me i'd like to be able to spec it up exactly the way i need
If you can generate power, Vcore Pro 97 will be very good for the elbow, Ezone 98 i suspect can give problems to people who are sensitive
do you see a big difference between the 2020 and 2022 Ezone 98?
Mostly explained in the vid
@@ACTennis thanks
Am a One handed backHand tennis player the Ezone 98 or Vcore 95 flame Red which is supposively better🥺 I also know Shapavalov did switch to the Ezone 98 🔥
I think Vcore 95 is better , usually smaller head size works better with 1 handers, but the ezone is not too bad either really
@@ACTennis Okay cuz I was thinking if Shapavalov made a switch to a Ezone 98 Frame & Federer uses a 97 Frame with Stan Wawrinka was thinking maybe huger sweet spot was key 🔑 in their backhands not sure Wat Thiem uses
so your feedback would be i still stick to the Vcore 95 flame Red even if am to buy a new one Vcore 95 would still be best suit for me ryt cause in Africa here it's really hard to get rackets i would have to ship personally & hopefully one day STill working hard to go Pro 🎾 & wanted more of the racquet to play 4 me cause of player margins since players i would be playing are better than me😅 so am tryna use MA TENNIS Nerd 🤓 self to get to Top 100 best 50 hopefully higher wid fate 🕊
so since I saw Shapavalov making a switch also thought i would switch too but since you say the Vcore 95 is better guess i will stick to it unless u have change of opinion am open ☺
I also just saw your channel pop up on my feed always been INTEREsted to discover Yonex Racquets cuz of brand integrity don't really care about the rest i subscribed ♥ Thanx 4 all the Help & Reply ☺
@@AJPHIL-bt4me Thanks alot mate, wish you all the best in your journey
Here in the review, what i mention is that the vcore is probably better for 1 handed backhand , but the ezone is more forgiving so it may make it easier to play with, the ezone should be all around an easier racquet to play with, and much better for serving than the vcore 95, so then its kind of up to whether you think this would help you more or not
I also have the vcore 95 flame red, but i will play better with the ezone 98
@@ACTennis Thank You Very Much☺🌟🌟🌟
how does this compare to Nick's Xi 98? Does it feel similar?
Hi ! Inm looking to Switch from a blade 98 v7 16 19. What would I benefit with this one ? (Stability, spin, touch, 2hbh that is n'ont great with my blade)
I also had an extrême tour but felt to stiff ar Times.
@@ACTennis nice! Did you go up in tension when switching from the VC95 to the Ezone ?
@@NewWaveAfros Vcore 95 i can get like 42 or 44, and then let it break in, Ezone is my standard 48
I use babolat pure aero. Duno if I should get v core pro97 or this e zone? What u think
@@ACTennis so you are saying the ezone is a more controlled racquet than a blade? i tought its the other way around
@@MrCarFanatic Not the blade you are talking about, no
@@ACTennis thanks for the help
@@ACTennis what about extreme tour ?
Since this is a more controlled ezone, is the power the same as the babolat pure strike VS? Or the VS is just more control oriented?
VS has more accessible power at full swings, the thinner beam and slightly smaller head size will also allow it to be controlled aswell, i would rate it in similar range of control, ezone had better control by accessing spin, VS will flatten out more effectively
@@ACTennis thanks! I find that I have a hard time flattening out my shots with the Ezone. I have the VS but I did not string it with the same string setup with my Ezone, I should probably try it with the same string setup. I just compared it to my CX400 tour and find it low powered so havent used it since.
@@peejread2309 Ezone is not the best for flattening out consistently, just on the right shot at the right time, better for lots of spin
@@ACTennis I agree with you on that. It was the first thing I noticed when i tried to drive the ball for a winner and ended up a ball with spin despite the right swingpath.
Can you tell me the similarities/Differences between THE YONEX Ezone 98 2022 vs Yonex ezone xi98
Xi is stiffer, heavier, less manoeuvrable, more powerful, less control
how would you compare this to the vcore pro 97 (310)?
VCP97 310 is more like a softer Pro Staff if anything, it's going require 100% real technique, obviously lower power, more control, heavier feeling - although this Ezone is maybe difficult for the more lower intermediates, i still think the way it swings people could get away with playing with it at a variety of levels
using ezone 100, looking for a bit control, which one is better ezone 98 or percept 100?
Percept 100D instead of the Percept 100
@@ACTennis thanks a lot
Did you like the Solinco Revolution 1.2mm on this racket?
Actually do like the string, but i can't tell yet if it's the racquet or the string that loses playability fast, but Hyper G Soft and Revolution died in playability without the strings wearing much once the tension dropped, as did it in the Vcore 98 with revolution, almost like it has....something to do with these 2 Yonex racquets rather than the string itself
how does this 2022 ver compare to the old xi 98 ? any similarities in feel/ contact and etc. ?
Wouldn't really say so, new one is faster because it's lighter, dampened and muted feel, pretty controlled but still has some good power
Xi swingweight by default is higher, more beefy feeling, more raw feeling and stiffer
@@ACTennis thanks. The xi is noticeably heftier than the newer ezone. The beam is also more beefy. I will try the 2022 soon if I can find one.
So whats the best mod.(lead tape nos and place) you think for ezone98 2022?
Nothing is the best, depends what suits you, i like just 2g each side at 10 and 2 o'clock
@@ACTennis With Leather Grip?
What do you prefer in terms of POWER
Yonex Ezone 98 2022 vs Yonex Ezone 98 2020?
Covered in the video :)
Pro staff 97 v13 vs ezone 98, what differences? Thankss
Pro staff - low, power, control, less spin, heavier to move, in my opinion has bit nicer feel, requires better technique and skill, much more self generation to use well
@@ACTennis Thanks man, good job 👍🌱
What grip size was it?
Just grip 4 1/4 or #2
Ezone98 more powerful or more control than the VCorePro100 ?
I haven't personally tried the Pro 100 yet, my assumption would be at least a little more powerful than the Pro 100 because it's thicker, but there's alot of control in Ezone still, so maybe quite similar with control
Can you put the vcore95 n ezone98 on top of each other ..only difference is vcore95 is smaller near the throat area ..if you hit near the bottom if the head then avoid vcore95 ..
When i refer hitting at the bottom or outer edges, i am referring to when the racquet is sideways, i don't hit near the throat lol
@@ACTennis top half of the vcore95 raket is same as my 98inch rakets
Which mod did you like the best out of the 3?
Im ive been using just leather grip and either 1g or 2g at 12 depending if i want a little extra plow through or racquet head speed
Is this similar to the pure aero vs?
Some aspects, but not quite, stiffness, control, power, serving are comparably different
Epping indoor centre ?
Yes sir
I'm 64 years old, Ezone 98 or Vcore 98 better for me ? Thank's
Really depends what your game style is, and what you prefer
Flat? spin? serve volley? doubles only? do you have arm problems with stiffness or anything?
Hi guys Can I string ezone 98 with hybrid Head velocity and head lynx tour
Probably would be fine, durability might not last though, lynx tour is a bit shaped and any shaped string paired with a multi will eat into it faster
Is this more muted dampened than 2020 ezone?
Yep i would say so, but 2020 was also more likely to get arm problems aswell
What does muted feel mean on a racquet?
It means that when the ball hits the strings, it's hard to tell which part of the racquet you hit, like whether you hit in the middle, off to the side, at the top of the frame etc
This feedback allows people to adjust their swing or timing because they know they arent hitting it in the middle then, some racquets dont provide people this feeling which is why it will called muted
For me it doesnt bother me, but theres alot of people that it does bother
@@ACTennis I learned something new today thanks to you.
@@kuruptgt Anytime mate 😊
Better than the old DR?
Acquited taste probably, i think it probably suits different playing styles, DR will have more power and plow, this is more on the control end of these range of racquets
What was your favourite setup?
I have poly tour pro main and head lynx touch cross at 48lbs at the moment, suits me, quite nicely
Any lead on the hoop?
Super professional review as you always do! :) send me a pm with an address and I’ll send you a couple sets of poly tour Rev, the least I can do to give back a little for all you fantastic insights and hard work.
Much appreciated mate! glad you enjoyed it - that's super nice of you, that sounds expensive though for postage costs since i'm in AU, - can't remember if you were too? YT doesn't have a DM system anymore, you can send me an e-mail if you want in the description - if you aren't in AU, it'll be too expensive, i wouldn't worry about it haha - really appreciate the thought, really kind
What string tension and string would you recommend
Generally i don't recommend tension because it's usually very personal but i string at 46-48lbs depending on weather with full poly, if it is a more control racquet with tight string pattern, i will string 40-42lbs
I wish the vcore98 played like an easier version of the vcore95 but they feel nothing alike
