The first three Ezone models are all amazing, each in their own right. XI 98, AI 98, and DR 98. XI (Kyrgios) a bit brassier, AI (Osaka) with a more direct feel, and DR just a tad more plush - some of the best sticks of all time! Great feel, playability, and overall performance - and all great on the arm. Just remember that some of these Yonex sticks came in two weights without a difference in the paintjob - AI actually lists both weights in the text on the head. You have to check the code just above the grip, G vs LG for 310g vs 285g. Many folks selling them don't know they are listing the lighter-weight version, especially if they added a leather grip that brings the weight up into the 300g range. I'd take any of these older variants over any of the newer versions, especially the one that came out after the DR (just called EZone). BTW, the Plus version of the DR is also superb.

Harry, thanks for the video! Please come back to us, with regards to the blue one. I has to be customised to be at 12 points headlight.
Trust me those DR’s are fantastic rackets, the first thing I did back in the day was buy 10 replacement bumper guards, for future use. You can see just how good they are as people are paying a fortune for them second hand!
I customised all of mine, 357g strung with overgrip and dampener and they 12 points headlight. I’m just not sure about the swingweight, so by watching your video, I think they could be around 330-333.
As this racket is so plush you can pair them with polys with no discomfort to your arms. They are fantastic with Hyper G. As for the quality control, they were so close to each other they were very easy to customise, with half a gram and I bought them years apart off e-bay, therefore not from the same batch. If I’m honest, I can’t tell the difference between the blue or lime versions.

I bought the yellow DR88 without trying it because of the rave reviews from TW. I tried to love the racquet but it was too flexible and had a strange flex and feel that I could not get used. Funny thing is I have switched all these years later to the latest ezone which I find has the right blend of stiffness and stability for my liking.

Yes. They are. Something Magical about those tennis racquets. No idea why they don't keep making them. Something like Wilson still making The 6.0 style racquets, the PS 85. I think it's up there with those as far as all time great racquets

Hi there. Enjoy your uploaded videos.
I live in Japan and own both the yellow as well as blue versions of Ezone DR 98s. Yonex brand leather grip adds about 12-13 grams compared to regular grips. I use Yonex leather grips on both rackets and specs are the same.

My tennis journey when I got serious:
    Babolat AeroPro Drive GT 2010:
Great racket. Lots of spin. Needed some lead at 12 o clock and a dampener with a smaller grip (L2) to get that mix of comfort and spin maximization. Lacking a bit in feel. More of a bludgeon. Good times. Really fun.
Wilson K Factor Six One 90 Pro Staff Roger Federer Autograph. This was tough to use but when my game was on this thing was a surgeon’s scalpel. Very precise but unforgiving. Incredible plowing power when mechanics were there. It was a dream and a nightmare. It asked the best of you and if you weren’t there to match it, it cursed you. Still an amazing racket as a tool and the aesthetic to me is one of the best ever made.
Yonex DR 98 Blue - beyond incredible. Forgiving. Spin friendly. Predictable. Rewarding. I could gush on ad infinitum. I have to use it without a dampener. It comes perfect in stock form with a nice poly like Solinco Hyper G. Best racket I have ever used. It combines elements of my previous two rackets and perfectly combines the best attributes they have to offer. This is the holy grail of rackets for me. So fortunate to have found them.
I highly recommend this Blue version. For some reason they’ve been popping up on OfferUp and FB Marketplace at reasonable prices. I got 2 of them for $250 in 2022 with some minor cosmetic damage (thank you Yonex QC) and of course some typical head guard damage that is to be expected.
Never looking back and this review cements it.

I have a blue DR, and put a leather replacement grip to replace the original grip which put on 10 more grams. With overgrip and string, it measures 347. The yellow DR with string and overgrip for only 327 grams, that seems to be too light.

@@akbarberlian the DR98 racquet is more flexible, which provides more feel. Off the shelf it has a swing weight of 324 compared to the newer version which is 318 or so. The newer Ezone has this weird clunky feel because of the high twist weight vs lower SW. Ask anyone who’s ever played with the DR98 which one is better. A lot of the players in the ATP tour still used the DR. Casper Ruud for one. It’s simply a better made stick.
