- Today we build a massive forestry district which is designed to be authentic but also efficient! We combine Industries DLC with base game forestry specialization and a ton of detailing to bring together a functional and realistic industrial district!
Welcome to Auridon! This is a 'lightly’ modded Cities Skylines let's play series, although I do use a ton of mods the series will use mostly Vanilla (+DLC) building assets with only a handful of extras from the workshop. The focus of this build is on making a detailed city, with functional mass transit, including all DLC and content creator packs. 2022 ready! The series is based on game play mixed in with detailing timelapse's.

I've taken massive inspiration for this build, and to start my channel, from the Cities: Skylines greats such as Biffa, Imperatur and City Planner Plays (among many many others I would add!!) but above all from the amazing OverchargedEgg and in particular his Palaven series which has heavily inspired this city. You can check that out here:

And yes, if you've made it this far and was wondering... I am an Elder Scrolls fan :)

Instead of a "glow up", you gave the new forestry industry area a "dust up". Phenomenal detailing once again! 2023 is looking great!
Haha love that! And thank you!
That highway view with the heavy forest on either side, and the wooden bridge going across? O M G. Top tier view right there.
Haha thanks Jen! 😄
Auridon Fun Fact of the Day: The first people that settled in Auridon, were able to start building the settlement after they traded in two sheep for some wood.
Haha thanks Gorgonzola!
CAUGHT UP!!! This might be the first time I've seen someone build out a forestry industry without it starting on fire. I love what you did with it - no surprise, another awesome industry area.
Yey!!! That was fast! 😄 and thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous. What sets you apart is that you go in and start detailing at the moment others look at an area and think, awesome, brilliant job done! I'd pat myself on the back if I could get an area looking half as good as one of your yet to be detailed builds.
Ahh thank you Sarah!! ❤
That rail line is just close enough to make a lumber themed cargo station like a bunch of lumber yards would have if they've been active since the late 1800's. If only CS had more themed cargo hubs by default.
Ooo yes that's a nice idea! If I can figure out how to design it! Thank you!
16:00 You can try the "Rebalanced Industries" mod. This will help get rid of an incredible amount of trucks in industry area.
The best series I have seen that addresses industries. I love that the factories are now open with products. I think Chip & Dale Forestry is a funny and great name. The Lumberjacks would have a calendar for charity. 😉The little village by the train station could be Woodbury Village as a companion name to Cadbury - in this direction of Auridon you are out in "the Burys".
Wow thank you! And great name suggestion, I like that!
I have been looking forward to seeing a forestry area from you for a while and of course it was the last industry you tackled haha! Name suggestion has to be FewForestry! Really enjoyed the build, forestry is so flexible and you really nailed it! Love the road going between the conifers :)
Ahh thank you Egg! Nice name suggestion! 😄
@@fewcandy Prepare to Chop lol
Wonderful forestry area. Lovely addition to Auridon.
The detailing on these industry builds really make so much difference compared to vanilla options. The whole area looks so established and satisfying!
Name suggestion: Conifew Timber
Love the name!! Thanks Ebow! 😄
Excellent build! Scattering the small industry buildings through the Industry area really makes it feel like it has grown organically as logging site over the years, with lots of little companies being bought out over time.
Just with the station - having the trees between the through road and the station isn't very realistic - the railways would want to keep a couple of metres either side of the track clear of vegetation. I can kind of imagine an opportunity for an old, disused goods platform on the through line, as if they used to have logging trains here before the new cargo facility was built off the main cargo lines.
an amazing idea i had instantly when i saw the big cut through road is a wildlife crossing over the road. That would be the ideal place and a possible very nessesary piece of infrastructure. On the one hour drive on the highway from my home town to berlin we have one that i have seen it alot. Might be worth to think about
Having a dad as a german state forrester i will add here some forrestry funfacts that will hopefully add to some sort of realism:
Having tree plantations of the same trees grown in rows is a very crude way of forrestry and was way to go forty years ago. Those woods are the result of total cut down and replanting efforts. Not very efficient but very common in Scottland for example where the sitka spruce grows double as fast as in continentail europe because of excess water supply where they can get away with cut down everything and replanting.
More advanced way of forrestry is combining new hunting strategies with maintaining the forrest by taking out smaller and sick trees to improve the more promising trees by giving them more light and giving new trees possibilities to grow by themselves.
Also forrest are normally made of a few different tree species that work well together depending on existing ground quality. In the relativly dry region of Brandenburg in Germany we have lots of birch-pine-woods.
Stellar work. This is the sort of detailing I need in my city, but that I haven't seen demonstrated before. Typical "detailing" videos go into insane depths of adjusting mailbox height or moving parts of buildings around. I want things I can see while playing the game, not things I have to zoom in to notice. Thanks for showing me things I can actually do.
Thank you! Great to hear that feedback as that’s exactly what I was aiming for with the Auridon series, highly detailed yet accessible! Glad you enjoyed it 😄
considering the trees could be sitka spruce to make thematically sense is to call the industry "sprucedon fields"
A tip for the traffic is to turn all the log yards and warehouses to empty (or off). Then turn them to balanced one by one over time. I hope in the future they fix it or let you have more control over where the resources come/go.
Ah yes, that's what I just posted. Tbh, I tried this on my game and I think unless you do it before you come off pause it still sends the lorries in their hundreds!! :)
Great to finally see all the industries in Auridon. I wonder if there are any massive forestry production buildings on the workshop like the xxl farms?
I haven't actually looked, but I will now! Thanks Ben!
Another impressive build! Love the rural community around the train station.
Continued excellence with your builds and videos. I love how far you push vanilla assets with to look so good. Well done as usual :)
Thank you! Very kind!
I LOVE forestry, one of my favourite industries!
As expected another fabulous build 👏 I just love the details, coming down to ground level makes all the difference.
Happy New Year my dear! Can't wait to see how Auridon grows.
Ahh thankyou Trixy! Happy new year to you too!
Huge job and so well done. Love the nature path trick!
I'm sure that I am speaking for all your viewers when I say that you have smashed it once again, WOW. Suggestion: a shuttle bus throughout the complex using the minibus from vehicles of the world. Keep up the amazingness :)
Thank you Alex! The minibus shuttle bus is a nice idea, thank you!
Few what a great episode. I love the way you make an industry area flow. You are top notch!
Aww thank you Ester!! Industry is always my favourite to build!
14:42 don't forget to do the turning line stuff
This came together so well!! The decals are just divine!
Thank you David!!
GREAT JOB as always FewC! Wacky suggestion for the forestry area name: "FoFo, LLC". On the signs for the area (at 48:41 for example) it says "FOrest foUNDATION." The letters of the dark green font spell "forest" with "Fo" on the bottom line and the "rest" on the top line, and the light green letters spell FOUNDATION with "FO" on the top line and "UNDATION" on the bottom line. FoFo! 🌲🌳🌴🌳🌲🌳🌴🌳🌲
Thank you Terry! And nice suggestion, thank you!
Love that catenary sign idea! Nice touch.
Thank you! 😄
Hey there, my wife and I are HUGE FANS! We will literally watch your videos before anything else We could find on TV. I could go on and on gushing about your skill and artistry but I have a question. I'm curious as to what you use to interface with the game is it simply the keyboard & mouse ? do you have a custom mouse? A Controller ? Thanks in advance. Keep up the excellent work. The only thing we could possibly request to improve your channel is more content ! Cheers.
Oh wow thank you so much! Very kind words and love to hear you enjoy watching with your wife! 🥰 I do just simply use a mouse and keyboard, just a standard Logitech mouse, nothing fancy, but do have a (far too loud, need a quieter one!) mechanical keyboard - good for gaming but unnecessary for cities and bad to record with! 😂
Amazing forestry build, the detailing is spot on as usual 😎. I love the entrance signs and the tractor area with the oil surface texture. The housing next to the road, those residents must be feeling like OE when his Palavan streams got interrupted by forest trucks 🤣 I'm amazed all the raw forestry production is eventually balanced with the storages, I was thinking it may be necessary to turn some of the plantations into dummy's with RICO. Excellent work FewC.
I was surprised it balanced too!! 🤣 Stroke of luck haha! Glad you enjoyed it Andreas, and thank you!
Screw game mechanics, its looking pretty and I like it! thanks!
Haha thank you!
You never stop to wow us . Great job
Awesome build!! Been hanging out for Auridon's forestry area!
Name suggestion "Fewestry Forrestry" lol
Ooo love the name Heather! And thank you! Hope it was worth the wait! 😄
Another industry area looking incredible.
There's a forest not far from Newcastle called "Chopwell Forest" which I think would be amusing for a logging area.
Also, Id love to see a big Botanical Gardens with hedge maze etc a-lá Kew(Few) Gardens (Auridon already got monument hill, but maybe another city?
Thank you! And great suggestion!, we may manage to get this in Auridon yet...!
Holy crap your city looks beautiful and actually achievable to make (for noobs) compared to the bigger skylines content creators. I just love that little town you show at 0:50
Thank you so much! Yes I try and do highly detailed builds but accessible for the average cities player, glad you enjoyed it!
Love your videos! Happy new year 🎉
Thank you! Happy new year to you too!
I absolutely loved this episode!
Yey thanks Luna! ❤
Love it , can’t see any workers barracks thou.
Thank you! And no I absolutely hate the way the forestry barraks look so stayed away, but did entirely forget the maintenance building! Oops!
Forestry is my favorite type of industrial build in CS.
Judging by the traffic I'd say the first day of the Annual Auridon Lumberjack Expo was a complete success 😄
Edit: I'm not sure if you saw my additional comments in the first year celebration video. You said that RUclips didn't give you a notification about Jennifer's post.
Just asking to see if there is a potential issue with RUclips.
Thanks Edward! And yes on the annual lumberjack expo haha! 😂 No issue with RUclips, it's just because SuperThanks are relatively new it picks and chooses when it notifies me of them. And if I look at comments via RUclips studio on the mobile app it doesn't highlight when its a Super Thanks, very annoying and something I'm sure RUclips will update very soon!
Forestry is the best. Its infinite resources and you can put it anywhere.
This was so inspiring: you've just got a new subscriber :)
Ahh thank you! Welcome to the channel! 😃
Chip & Dale Forestry?
Okay this is it ha ha
You might want to take a look at Algernon's Transfer Controller 0.7.8 which has an option to disallow buildings to import materials and another option to "Prefer Local" or even lock it to a specific field for "product". This also allows you to lock death care, trash collection, etc to specific zones, which also helps. Like usual, it is a pretty build
For a more mature option, I think Transfer Manager CE might work as well. Especially since Algernon recommends using that one instead,
Thank you! Yes i have Transfer Manager CE already installed but only so i could remove extra path units due to the bug from Plazas and promenades. I try to steer away from any game changing mods so I'm still operating in a vanilla game mechanic way, and use detailing mods as my focus for this series. But this is is a great mod and really helps to squash the very weird vanilla AI!
There's a mod called bob, will let you change the props inside a building, so one can change the trees to match the surroindings.
Yes I know that one, use it all the time 😄
s u p e r b job
cannot choose beetween u and OE as my pref CS builder.
I love Ilos and Auridon both so much, super super super quality.
Ahh thank you that is insanely flattering to put me on a level with OE! Thank you! ❤
@@fewcandy FewC u know u are TOP level, don't be shy ;)
If we're repping the south west then surely the whole area needs to be called The Few Forest instead of The New Forest? 😁
Oooo yes! I love it!! Thank you!
Very very good
On par with CPP and Biffa
Ahh that's very kind, thank you!
Hey, did you sort the traffic? I guess if you set the stores to 'empty' wouldn't it stop them trying to fill them?
It did sort itself out with time! You can set them to empty but I sometimes find that messes with the game mechanics a little so prefer to suffer the bad traffic until it is all sorted and it will sort itself out!
As a proud resident of Auridon. can I walk my dog here?
Absolutely! 😄
hello, can you make a video about your mods, or show a list of mods and color correction
I will be starting a modded beginners guide which go more in depth into the mods I use and how i use them soon! But yes, I have a mod list on the steam workshop here, and the color corrections are listed in the video descriptions! steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2692149190
@@fewcandy Thank you for your work, I really like your creativity) (if I still understood English) but it’s also very interesting and pleasant to watch)) I wish you success on your channel, all the best, I’m waiting for a review on your mods
Which DLC need to buy, Then I can Open All Option Please.
Unlock all is a base game option, in content manager in the main menu under mods you can choose to select ‘unlock all’ . Alternatively if you play with mods Game Anarchy has the same option
Is this a mod I have to download? I don't see this option
It’s part of the Industries DLC, you’ll need that to be able to put in larger industry areas and unique factories!
I just downloaded this game on Xbox and I noticed the cars are driving SUPER slow I thought it was a glitch. But I see your cars are driving slow too. So this is normal?? Doesn’t make much sense
That’s probably not normal on Xbox no, I have a mod which controls the game speed so i usually reduce it quite a bit so time doesn’t go quite as fast when I’m building! On Xbox your cars should be going a lot faster than this as you can’t control game speed. Unless it’s a huge city in which case the game always slows down at that point!
@@fewcandy ohhhh thanks for the info! my game might be broken have to play 3x speed for it to be normal
@@imdavidlamar on console you can only choose 3 speeds. You shouldn't have them going too fast unless you have built motorways everywhere ;)
25:38 why don't you give it to Biffa and he will fix your city for you
The traffic completely cleared by the end of the ep! but otherwise would love Biffa to come in and do some fixing up 😄
@@fewcandy he is really good at doing it 😊
