- Today we build a massive, detailed, Hollywood style film studio, complete with multiple stages and individually crafted film sets covering various different movie genres. The build tries to incorporate as many vanilla assets as possible, plus lots of workshop props, but also uses the Hollywood Studios Pack by Polygon (link below).

Welcome to Auridon! This is a 'lightly’ modded Cities Skylines gameplay series, although I do use a ton of mods the series will use mostly Vanilla (+DLC) building assets with only a handful of extras from the workshop. The focus of this build is on making a detailed city, with functional mass transit, including all DLC and content creator packs. 2022 ready! The series is based on game play mixed in with detailing timelapse's.

I've taken massive inspiration for this build, and to start my channel, from the Cities: Skylines greats such as Biffa, Imperatur and City Planner Plays (among many many others I would add!!) but above all from the amazing OverchargedEgg and in particular his Palaven series which has heavily inspired this city. Where to even start with this one!? Each week you've been getting more creative with the builds but this one is a totally different league. You've really carved out such a unique and interesting style here FewC! Absolutely LOVE the Ilos/Breaking Bad set and that Cyberpunk set is just...unreal. Wow.

this is possibly the first time a cs yter have ever incoporated a film studio into their city build, and you did an incredible job.
How am I supposed to enjoy this, Few, when I still need my post it notes to remember the most basic functions of Move It? Just kidding, I LOVED every single second! I agree with Egg, your creativity has smashed through the roof and we are just watching you soar in real time. Oh and can we please have that large warehouse be the 'Auridon Light&Magic SFX-workshops' and that doubled and merged university building be the 'Auridon Animation Academy' where students learn making animation movies? That would be super cool.

Ohmigosh, Few. I have no idea how I missed this one, but I'm so glad that OE referenced it in his collab video so I could watch. This isn't just good, as usual... You are putting on a master class in how to use details to tell stories, imply/give the illusion of something else, etc. Every player out there can build SO MANY MORE things after watching episodes like this. You are, quite literally, raising the bar. Holy cow. Wow.

Oh wow, what a great build! The mashup of buildings really looks like a studio which grew up organically over time. You'll need to get some tour buses moving through there. Auriversal Studios?

i had a little idea for an extension of the film studios - maybe have some on-location shooting around Aurion with some prop detailing? perhaps at the country club, or the resort hotel, dodgy rocks, the blunderdome, maybe at the Lord Egs6y's castle? I think it would really bring some life to the city and help the film studios establish itself :)

Absolutely spectacular. I cannot imagine how many hours went into this astonishing build. I think my favourite part was from 0:00 to 1:07:26. I can't narrow it down any further. amazing.
Absolutely amazing build! You never cease to blow me away me with your detail. I have seen triple A games with less detailing. You are a genius at City Skylines, I think you won the City Skylines game lol, give this woman a trophy!! Oh and those large warehouses are called sound stages btw. Just a few suggestions; Candy Land Studios, Skylines Studios, Auramount Studios, or just a simple Auridon Pictures. Edit: I forgot to ask if there is a studio tram bus asset available and maybe make a small route within the studio.
Also, that sunset looking from the Auridon sign to the skyline....that's the spice sample right there for me!!

I'm blown away 🤯I was slightly skeptic about these factories, but with all the detailing they blend in so nicely. The movie/tv sets are absolutely lovely and totally catch the vibe you get when driving by sets in real world film studio tours. I think it would be really cool to have small film-sets dotted around the city in future builds, like they moved to some actual on-site location to film some scenes. Awesome build, looking forward to the next one.

Most of the The "big warehouses" you saw on the map are Soundstages. There are a few werehouses that are used for prop and film storage but a good amount of those buildings are workshops and soundstages. The small group of houses you saw on the map are facades.
It would be good to add a fire station to the studio- I'm not sure how studios are in England and other countries but in the Universal and WB studios they have their own personal fire departs on the property in case of an emergency.
It's a shame that the liberal arts or trade schools don't have a film/ animation school asset- I mean the trade school has a media lab, I guess that's supposed to be like a film school. That asset would be very useful in a build like this.

So good. The stuff that you're building is so different to everyone else creating Cities content, but it all exists in real life. I think that's why Auridon feels so lived in. You're absolutely smashing it. I'm so glad Egg gave you a mention in one of his videos right at the beginning of your youtube journey and that I found you then! 10/10. The only thing I'd change is that the wall at the back of the Ilos/Breaking bad set should be bright green like a green screen so that they can add the rolling vistas of the desert in later in post-production. Not sure if you can recolour them or not?

Kent wandering what anyone looking over my shoulder would think I was viewing… It certainly didn’t look like someone playing a game. i have no words. except thanks to the genius who shared this idea in a comment. this is SO GOOD. it's a total and entire repurposing of assets, but that means that so many people drive and walk througj there, making the place look lively. i love how you tell all these little stories with thr assets!
one thing im missing is golf carts :-)
also, the scene at the little cul de sac is from gilmore girls, when Lorelai and Sookey are looking at the Twickum house.

This is my favourite build this series! Maybe the districts around the studio could be called 'Aurywood' or 'Auverly Hills' (Beverly Hills) and have fancy condos and mansions for all the actors and auridon's rich?

Amazing build as always. I can’t imagine how long in real time your detailing takes.
Suggestion for future builds/detailing. I’d love to see construction in the downtown for new skyscrapers being built with cranes etc. not the best to look at in the skylines of a city but very realistic.
Also new housing estates in the process of being built.

Haven't watched until the end yet, but at around 51:40 you put 3 large truck containers down, and then the trucks at the front, sadly they are the wrong way around. Maybe its spotted and fixed and i was just too excited to say how great this is coming along! who knows :)

@FewCandy...Have you worked in film? Pretty dang good take on those sets and the lot. A couple of things...Golf Carts EVERYWHERE!! Also, on any of the remote sets, you'd have tents, craft-service trailers, dressing trailers, makeup trailer, wardrobe, props, etc. There are also a lot more crew on each shooting set. Probably a wad of 15-20 people, dead minimum, behind the camera and moving around the trailers, etc.
I even wonder if there's some kind of mod that would allow you to move golf carts around the property from set to set? Some sort of invisible road, maybe a bus route but make the vehicles golf carts with a capacity of 3-4? Not sure if there's a combo of mods to make that exist, but that conceit would be useful in other settings...university, for instance, where you'd have an assortment of campus vehicles moving around.

@@fewcandy You're welcome!! I am tied up on so much actual city policy right now that I have not been able to play for almost a year!! So, I am soaking up so much inspiration/technique from you, and hoping I remember it without grinding it into my physical memory. You have a facile way of working with the terraforming tools that really gets you where you're going quickly. And you have such good landscaping instincts...the grouping and massing you do is very much on point design-wise.
What is your profession, if you don't mind me asking? I always wonder when I see people firing on all cylinders, so to speak. You either have some sort of broad experience, or you're just a brilliant observer. Thanks again. I don't mean this as a knock on anyone, but I'm glued to your channel now, because lacking big hunks of time to do much playing, it's the best source for inspiration and technique I have found anywhere.
Thank you so much for your kind words, really nice to hear I can provide inspiration! I'm a media consultant during the day, so absolutely not creative or similar to Cities in any way! But I have spent many years now playing the game avidly, and observing others to, hopefully, find my own style.
Absolutely stunning, yet again you've impressed us all with your unique use of assets to create something special. May I add one thing? You've used a hell of a lot of unique buildings and that must take it's toll on the budget, have you considered converting some of them to RICO buildings? Just a thought.
