    Watching this man for 24 minutes trying to start a series 1 rx8 just reinforced the fact that I’m a rotor head. Cheers to this man for not giving up. Rotaries are for the few the proud..hahah..when he took the that deep breath when it started that’s when I knew he was initiated to our club. Hahah

    The cold-high revving in the video at around 28 mins is what I was referencing previously. Be really careful, those engines absolutely hate to be revved cold and it will drastically shorten their lifespan :) Until the needle is near the center of the gauge, I'd keep it under 4k rpm. Some people I know even keep it under 3k.
    But it's nice that it runs :> It's been quite the adventure

      Lol thanks for your comment, I know better not to rev it on cold, but I love how it sounds at 9k RPMs but I won’t do it again on cold engine 😊

      I'm surprised he didn't try the obvious thing and try turning the engine over with a wrench on a pulley. This would have revealed what was tight and what wasn't as well as being kinder to the engine. Maybe a wrench on the alternator pulley or that impact driver would have freed it off.

    Nice work! Definitely get that belt on for the water pulley before you start driving it, and try not to rev it up cold, its not good for the engine! I am excited to see what is next for this RX8, another compression test would be interesting to see.

    • @mazdarx8diy38

      Definitely doing another compression test, on hot and cold without adding any oil to cylinders, but belt and alternator is getting replaced, probably today, but I been working all night at my job, so need to get some sleep 😴 lol thanks so much for watching my videos and taking your time to comment, but definitely more work will be done to it, BTW I will make it my daily as soon as I sell my Automatic RX8, I don’t want to sell it but I will, just need to work out some steering wheel problem I got, everything I tried doing so far has not helped, just like you I might need to replace the computer or module for steering wheel, as you know RX8 don’t like to sit this is why I need to sell one, also I wand to buy a series 2 or even R3 if I see a good deal on it

    This is hard to watch. Should have used ATF fluid and put a small amount into the lower spark plug holes BEFORE even trying to start it as that engines been sitting for 2 years! It's dry as a bone! Also hasn't done any checks to make sure it's getting fuel to the rail, spark to the plugs or anything. Also the sound of the starter is very slow and it will always be hard to start a rotor with a slow starter motor. Poor renesis.

    I’m sorry but the video was fairly cringey. What would possess you to attempt to start a vehicle after realizing one of its accessories’ pulley is seized. That’s a disaster waiting to happen. Then why not check the compression on the vehicle instead of constantly cranking it over. Especially being a car you bought from someone else whose put mods on it..idk you live and you learn I guess..

    11 minutes in haven't checked for spark or if it was getting fuel, starting fluid it turns over then fuel is the issue if it doesn't do anything probably no spark.

    Great job! I own a 2008 RX-8. I took it out once and it died while driving. This was after I took it to the dealer to change spark plugs. It's been sitting for almost a year now. I try starting it, it turns, but never fully starts. What do you think it may be? ignition coils, alternator, etc.....HELLLLPPPPPPP.

    • @brosshows
      @brosshows Год назад +2

      if it went out while driving (as if it stalled) im pretty sure it will be the fuel pump bc they are known to go out pretty easy. if you replace that (which you can do yourself not too hard if you kinda know what ur doing) then it should get going but if not, take it to a mechanic and have them check relays, ignition system and fuel system. highly doubt it will be your intake. Good luck i wish you all the best for this and hope you get it going!

      @@rolandcameau6539 i would just recommend taking it to be serviced when it needs to be, topping up engine oil, always let it warm up before driving it, and always always premix your fuel with some 2 stroke engine oil. also try redline it everytime you go for a decent drive. most people think its bad for the car but it actualy helps. as long as you put high octane and premixed fuel in the car. i rlly hope it goes well and would recommend maybe a rebuild soonish if you can afford it. but all the best luck to you and hope you really enjoy your car :)

  • @jcarnevale1032
    @jcarnevale1032 Год назад +1

    guys anyone watching this video dont be like this guy. If you find an rx8 like he did 2 years not running the rotary engine is not healthy, bank on that. in fact youll need a rebuilt before long. Maintenance on an rx8 means driving it and revving high. Not driving it does ruin it. Now assuming that your car is not on a barn for 2 years and behaves like in this video do not do what he did. I have no idea why hes shooting oil in the spark plug holes. Do check the spark plugs check if they are wet if so that means flooded motor. Its never bad to do an oil change a rotary, they love oil. So just empty the oil over night let all that oil and gas you are flooded with. Mine as well replace spark plugs DO. NOT MIX BOTTOM WITH TOPS if you do not change them clan them and dry them. thats step 1 IF you end up messing with the fuel pump take the back seat section unscrew the lid and just push and pop that green ring. If you replace the pump hook wire. inset pump and then put that same green ring back on it takes some thinking and analyzing but that green ring locks TEST IT. make sure it hugs well as you try to pull it. It must be solid or youll squirt fuel. Thats how that goes. Dont be using cheap hoses not made for fuel like this bloke did. Hes just too dumb to figure it out. Step 2 with new oil and and clan spark plugs and running pump crank and see it it starts. If it does not, use a charger, and have someone spray igniter motor spray on your air intake. open it have someone spray it as as you crank, (Have a fire extinguisher near by just in case of fire. ) THIS WILL START THE CAR maybe 2nd 3rd or even 1st try. Do not rev high as it stats maybe 3000 rpms but not higher than, that like this guy. This is a rotary engine you cant rev it high as your car start it 1.5. seconds ago. Let is idle for 3-7 min watch all the white stuff come out of of your pipes once it stops you are done. 9- 20 min later try to start it will fire as normal. good luck.

      Fuel pump is located under the seat of the rear passenger seat right behind the driver all you have to do is just simply remove the seat cushion remove the metal plate and then you will find the fuel pump when removing the fuel pump make sure your fuel tank does not have a lot of fuel otherwise it will be very difficult to install a new fuel filter other than that this is really easy

    You oiled the spark plug ports? Why?

    • @AtlasJotun
      @AtlasJotun 5 месяцев назад +1

      Rotaries need lubrication around their seals, they have pumps that introduce oil into the combustion chambers to keep the rotors sealed and reduce wear. Not a bad idea to add a small amount either through the bottom plug hole or into the intake manifold before starting one up after it sat for a long time.
      Many rotary owners will add oil (called pre-mix) to the fuel if the pump fails or is removed. Some guys will add a small amount of pre-mix even if the pump's okay, just to be sure.
