Had a similar situation with my RX8, about 2 years without running and was tempted to get rid of it but, bless it, I got it started and I'm now on with getting it road ready. Keep the faith dude!

Congrats on having the car started!
Regarding the fuel trims for the ECU: It's a self-learning ECU in that regard, the procedure is that when the battery/circuit has been fully decharged, you just start the car and let it idle by itself until it's warm, then you give it an additional 15 minutes just idling after it's warm. After that you can shut it off and restart it. and tada it has learned the trims. (Usually you also want to go on chill cruise for extra learning at certain speed).
Big big thing: Avoid revving above 3-4k rpms when it's cold as it could very quickly damage the engine. :) (good rule of thumb is that you can hammer more when it reaches close to the middle haha)
Though, one thing I have seen VERY VERY VERY wrong.. The alternator belt.. It's also driving the belt below, which is the water pump! I'm pretty sure that normally, the water temp gauge sits a bit *before* the middle of the gauge (it's a weird and really shit gauge tbh, it only moves past that point when it starts to overheat already). I would actually have shut it off as soon as possible haha. :)
That's definitely an aftermarket muffler, the stock one is a single muffler ;) What's kinda important is to either have a sport cat or just run no cat (at least aside of inspections haha)
Congrats on getting it running, but please don't run it ever without the alternator/water pump belt :x
It sounded healthy as well until you were showing the idle issues :)
I'm afraid I can't help with the code or the air intake (I run an AEM Cold air Intake, so that box is gone completely for me up to the throttle body :D) However, the vaccum lines you were pointing at around the box are to control the variable intake i'm pretty sure by default. Or something like that.

Thanks so much for detailed comment with so much great information.
I am so surprised that this car did not over heat not having that belt run the water pump, only time it started overheating is when I took it above 5k revving and that’s when it was already warmed up, I was not trying to rev it before warming it up, but when the car learned to idle on its own I let it run for a while and it seemed ok. To know exact water temp I should of plugged in my after market temp gage that I have on my tuner then I would know true numbers. I can’t believe the factory gage does not work properly.
Btw my alternator will come in today and a new belt, I will then install it, I want to take it out for a drive, this is so exiting, car feels like it has allot of power.
As for intake I will try to figure out a way to install that cold air intake that’s in the trunk.
Also I will install racing radiator, and full Exhaust system,
As for suspension the green springs look aftermarket but the struts and shocks are original, I will install Adjustable coil overs.
I will make this car my daily driver, I enjoy driving sport cars.
As for vacuum lines I noticed that my automatic does not have extra vacuum lines like this one has, this intake manifold has 1 extra hole for vacuum line in the corner

@@mazdarx8diy38 You're welcome! Exchanging information and going in detail is, I think, a tiny bit more helpful and well. We're all learning always, I just like to share my experience and knowledge if it can help!
It's good if it doesn't look like it did overheat, this can really ruin an engine in an instant on those if you're not lucky. :(
That new alternator and belt will definitely help things out haha!
I'd recommend an aftermarket gauge or to simply use a cheap OB2 bluetooth scanner with an app like torque or OBD Fusion, those have a dashboard where you can display things like engine rpm, water temp and most calculated or sensored PIDs of the ECU :) I actually use those always when I run the car, I hate not to have my "extra gauges dashboard" haha (and it doesn't require any installs really, just something like a cheap OBD2 or if you want something better, the OBDLink LX is nice, can be used with versatuner to flash in the ECU for example)
It's definitely a shame that the factory gauge is useless like that... In the same way.. The oil gauge is actually just an on/off switch.. It doesn't show or react to pressure changes... *insert upside down face here*
Regarding the Cold Air Intake, if it's an AEM style one, you'll need to remove the front bumper and yeet most of those extra vaccum lines that you saw, only keeping and plugging up the one running below the throttle body. I'm pretty sure that the stock intake system is one of the biggest differences between the 231hp manual RX8s and the 192/Auto ones. (it has dynamic variable intake valves somehow. I can't explain it well, but if you look around when you, most likely dismount everything that's mounted above the front strut to install the CAI, you'll understand what it does to some extent! :))
Racing radiator is definitely welcome as those cars like to run hot and the full exhaust is always nice. I got myself a 200cpi sport cat and catback from BiJP that sound amazing AND passes emissions requirement here where I live! :D (actually probably similar to what you have on yours atm, since it's a dual muffler system)
I'll definitely recommend either the coilovers OR the fully stock suspension, which is very good from the factory on the RX8. I'll be installing some BC-Racing BR-RH at the end of the month, once I receive them.
      It's my daily as well!
to be honest, the engines of the Auto and High power manuals are quite different, probably quite a lot of changes around the gearbox as well. :)

Awesome 👏 that’s good to hear, tomorrow my new alternator will be in, I just ordered it at O’Reilly auto parts today with a new belt, they said 3pm tomorrow, most likely we will have rain next 3 days, but I will still have a video ready tomorrow

Chances are your system too lean and your idle are connected, start a fresh as you say with the maf sensor and at least one mesh screen, also ensure the vacuum pipe connection under the throttle body is blocked off (Google mazda rx8 vacuum hoses and you should find a line drawing of where the hoses go) originally the will be a small hose feeding from the throttle body, through a white and green one way valve then it carries on through to the front of the car (it clips onto the black plastic resonator on the side of the rubber accordion between the throttle body and the maf) you can either put a cap on the port that feeds it or you can reverse the one way valve

I have the same P0171 issue, have you found any possible causes yet?

  • @TRaySteeves
    @TRaySteeves 7 месяцев назад

This was so hard to watch!!!!
Why would you not even think to put a socket and breaker bar on the alternator to break it free?!?!
No amount of lube will penetrate into those alternator sealed bearings!!!
That belt may drive other things like the oil pump and water pump!!
Who in their right mind would even try to start a vehicle knowing that the alternator is seized up to the point of shredding the belt and then run it like that and wonder why it doesn't idle with no alternator and possibly no water pump turning?!?!
You're not all there and it's a wonder that you didn't cause a fire or explosion or something!!!!
