- In the fourth vlog from our September trip to The Netherlands we visit Waarbeek, a small family amusement park that opened back in 1924. The park is most famous for having one of the oldest operating steel roller coasters in the world that was built in 1930 by the park themselves. Rodelbaan is 13ft tall and features a chain lift hill followed by various different drops and hills as it makes its way around the entrance area of the park.
Along with that De Waarbeek is also home to a variety of self operated rides, other smaller family attractions and much more! In this vlog we share on ride POV's from all of the major rides at the park and give our overall review of this fun little amusement park.

This whole park is like buying the vintage pack in Planet Coaster. I love it!
Loved when Martin was going in about the E-Stops and when he found the isolator and re-set the ducks made me laugh but as an ex operator I was having a nervous breakdown :)
With the Duck Ride it actually said on the sign you can only use the emergency stop in case of a real emergency! :P

Absolutely love that coaster. Definitely somewhere I need to go to ride it. I love old coasters. The happiness which they have given all those years and all those peeps who have riden before you.

I think the one in Spain isn't fully a steel rollercoaster, a large part of the supports being concrete (and some wood only being replaced by steel later on), so that might actually make this one the oldest steel coaster. This looks like a cute little park.

The post Office is a show for kids. They can make there own postcard. The show ends with a “fake” Fire. I have been there there times. Its Nice if you are a kid😀👍

Also that strange indoor section on the mini cars reminded me of watermouth castle in Ilfracombe!!! Definitely recommend for a strange day out if you haven’t already been! :)
Definitely a charming little park with some interesting attractions. You would never see ‘self operated rides’ in the UK. Ever.
i love how no one knew that estop cuts all electric and hydraulic power to the ride rendering it inoperable without either a reset or some other form of key or in rare cases the ride resets itself

Great that u guys went here.I love the "show some love to the smaller parks attitude" this year.Hope to see much more in the future of Other European small parks or in the USA,Canada etc etc.Too bad Drievliet was closed troughout the week but they anounced to expend the park.If it all goes to plan they might have it ready in 2020.

Love Joyland, I might have a quick wander round there tomorrow as I'm in Great Yarmouth at the moment. Great video as always.
You should go to Julianatoren some time, it has my favourite self-operated flatride where you can roll upside down both forwards and backwards with two buttons. It also has a free nautic jet and a flying seat like here.
We plan to visit at some point in the future!
The company that makes those Nautic Jet rides also makes conveyor belts to take people up to the top of skiing hills.

The sign on the post office reads "opening hours - post office closed today" so I think it might actually be a real working post office potentially
I have noticed from recent trips to Europe that many things are more relaxed than here in the UK, free car parks and such like, it's like I remember things here back when I was a child before health and safety took over, they seem to rely on people actually being sensible and behaving themselves whilst our authorities want to control everything
@14:00 Yup. Nothing wrong with old fair rides, though. Gosh, I remember going on a caterpillar as a youth in my town. Who knows? It might have been that one.

Nice little parc. I didn't know this one. You have made a rite in a 'rupsbaan' . (rups means a caterpillar) You could find those on old fairs, most of them were decorated with colorful butterflies. There is also one in the Efteling, buth that one has no what you calls a 'parachute' . When it is closet it looks like a caterpillar. This ride was ferry popular by young lovers, when it was closet they cout kiss and no one cout see it.
Did Martin comb his hair with a ceiling fan? lol
The ride at 11:00 is a Calypso. Cedar Point has one, too, I believe. I wonder if there are other similarities between Cedar Point and De Waarbeek? :-)

Amazing how you guys have so much fun in the Waarbeek 😂 I’ve spend a lot of time in that park as a kid, cause it’s only 15 minutes away from my house hahaha. And about the post Office: it’s a showroom! Kids can get in that Office on busy days and there they can meet mailsman Pete! He gives a small magician show and then a lot of things go wrong like a sorting machine which explodes etc. Really small but fun show! So it’s not a real post Office Martin 😜

The angled Scrambler type ride is usually called the _Calypso_ in America.
32:18 Disney World does not have a Post Office operated by the United States Postal Service onsite, but the USPS picks up mail onsite. Disney World has UPS drop boxes onsite, but no FEDEX or USPS. Anyone who needs additional services or an actual physical US Post Office has to leave Disney property and head down the street for one, but it is interesting De Waarbeek park has one. I don't know if UK's Royal Mail has an active working post office at a theme park.

If you do a family park tour in America be sure to visit Waldameer Park in Erie PA. It opened in 1896 and is much larger than the park in this video.

On the door of the post office there said were closed. There is also Post office called 'Meijl' as it is on the sign, that is an existing post office with the same name in a nearby village that normally operating as a real post office. It looks more like a walkthrough or a show. In some parks, Universal, Disney you really able to send post cards, really from the parks to your family directly. For me as a Dutch girl, in the Dutch parks isn't possible to send post cards realtime to family with a post box.
Also, thumbs up for this vid again. I'll waiting for the Toverland review, so a few more days waiting for that. 😁

Translation of the signs at the e-stop of the duck ride: Only use red button for emergency stop. Attraction is shut down for 15 minutes.

@32:58 I can tell you, it's all of our national post. Currently named PostNL, but it has had several names, most older people know it was PTT Post until the 00's here. And I spot genuine postbags and such. @33:14 that's an real old poststamp automatic Looking at the design, price and phone number, it's probably from the 60's. Certainly before my birth!
De Waarbeek should add more foundational rides: Tilt-A-Whirl, Scrambler/Merry Mixer, Thuncer Bolt/Flying Bobs, Pirate Ship, ... .

The theming was strange!
I do not trust The Rollercoaster Data Base. It states a few coasters names that are wrong. The latest one that I come across was the Big One at the Big Sheep. It states that is now called Rampage. The signage and the park map shows the coaster to be the Big one. Great to see that you are enjoying The Netherlands. A niece of mine is Dutch. Got to have their main meal when I go over, chips and mayonnaise. They do like their waffles too. Great Vlogs again Shawn.
Days out UK keep in mind that RCDB is ran by few people who cannot get the site to be 100% correct, same thing with Wikipedia, not everything is 100% correct. I’d say about 95% of it is tho
Now i know why other European countries people are fitter than us Brits, they combine exercise with theme park rides :) 18:42

Just love your blogs Shawn, I do take issue when parks refuse permission to film on rides, I understand the safety issues, but I tend to avoid parks that do this, to me it’s a missed opportunity to get more visitors, especially when you have a huge amount of people who follow you. Sorry for rant.

Hahaha, cool that you guys went here, it's a great kids park! :-) The owner is a very nice guy too (a dutch comedic actor). Next time go to Drouwenerzand or Duinen Zathe (all-in (food and drinks included) amusement parks) And the post-office is fake, they do shows there.
