What a hidden gem! I love the way that this park is designed. I too don't like zoos, because I think that the enclosures seem so artificial and aren't very fair to the animals. This place, on the other hand, looks perfect. What a great experience. :) Thank you guys for sharing it!

Shawn i know you normally don't like zoo's. But please consider visiting Pairi Daiza in Belgium. They don't have any rides (with the exeption of a small steamtrain ride across the park) but the theming in the park is absolutely amazing. Really it's one of the most beautifull zoo's in the world. They even won this year's award for best zoo in Europe.
I live 16 kilometers from Wildlands and I've come in the Efteling all my life... Wildlands is a ZOO in the style of the Efteling! The old ZOO is still a town-park and they also have goats, sheep and so on... I take my kids to the old ZOO every month! Greetings from the Netherlands!

Thnks, for another great blog! I did not go to woodlands Emmen yet but after seeing this it made me interested. For my feeling they did not promote it very well. I knew it was there but they focused to much on the coasters. And it’s sad to see this trip end. It’s fun to see Shaun, Martin, Charlotte and Leia together. Shaun as the always positive way of looking at all the different parks and being honest. Martin as the fact checker with some really nice information. Hello from America!!! Charlotte is rocking those glasses!!! You can tell she really LOVES goats.🐐🐐 especially the little ones. Just watched your Disneyland vlog 2015. You were only on main street 1 minute and you see Mickey Mouse!! How great was that! Your friend actually looked like he was crying. He reminds me of a cooler Sheldon Cooper from the big bang theory. Hahaha. The Las Vegas vlogs had the family rolling with laughter when you all danced and sung on the High Roller. I really love your travel vlogs with your friends when you come to America. Glad you liked it. We went there before the coasters were build and still liked it. We were done with our day around 2 o'clock however. Maybe we will come back next year for the coasters. :)
Red or blue side, it all looked so fun!!! Love that coaster design!!! It has the ability to do a high hourly ridership with 2 trains running simotaniously!!! Wish there was one here in the US. Adventure City in Anaheim has a single track version kind of like this one. Check it out. Love the vlogs and keep them coming!!

Next time you plan a trip, and u are near Wildlands, you must visit Drouwenerzand. It’s a small amusementpark, and they label themaelf as they cheapest amusementpark in europe. For euro 10,75 u get entrence, but also food and drinks! It’s mainly oriented for children, but they got a couple unique rides, mostly fairground rides, you never will see somewhere else. Think of KMG’s Para Jump, believe me, it’s something weird haha.
Oh wow this looks great..I've never been because i also do not like zoo's and it's a 2,5 hour drive for us. But this looks amazing, i wanna go and so i will do that one day. Saw the commercials on tv for this park but never really cared for it..I do now..So thank you Shawn. The old park is still there, used to be home to some artists (and vandals). Nowadays it's used as a regular park with some artistic, cultural and social projects. It's called the "Rensenpark". The zoo moved due to size constraints at the old location (new location is about 3x the size I think), even before they moved they already had a small section in place at the new location. The biggest complaint I've heard about the new park is that there's not enough animals to be seen. Although I think that's more due to the better living conditions/larger enclosures/open areas, rather than a few rides being added. But I agree with you, it's an amazing park and great vlog.
I love this massive jungle hall in this park. That really looks very immersive, as does the whole park tbh. They could teach many theme parks a trick or two about theming :D Overall this Park / Zoo feels to me a lot like a smaller version of Hanover Zoo with all the theming and the boat ride. Although the boat ride in Hanover (Sambesi Bootsfahrt) is outdoors and in the African themed area. So different animals you get so see obviously. But when Hanover Zoo was "upgraded" to a themed Zoo roundabout 20 years ago, they did it in the same location where the traditional Zoo was, so they could not start from scratch and they still have some places where it looks like a traditional Zoo. At least it did ~10 years ago when I've last been...
Really looking forward to seeing Orlando. I haven't been there in so many years but I have a lot of nostalgia for the place. I bet it's changed a lot since 2009.
Hey Shawn, Just wanted to let you know today the local council of Loon op Zand unanimously agreed with an expansion of almost 20 acres west and east of Efteling. :)

Unfortunatly the managing director just left the park only 2 days ago after 9 years in charge, This unfortunatly probably has something to do with dissapointing visitor numbers and operating at a 1.8 million euro loss over 2017. Too bad really because the park looks really nice. My guess is that the problem is that its not enough zoo for zoo people and not enough rides for theme park people and that the market for people who like both, like you guys fortunatly , is pretty niche. So yeah, they should figure out what the people that visit actually come for, the rides, the animals or the combination... and according to the results of this inquiry add more. Really hope that they can make this hybrid model succesful because it seems like quite a unique park and it would be a shame to see it turn into a regular zoo over time because there are already many of those in the country.

Was thinking before you stated about Expedition Everest in park maybe a coaster like that be ideal lol, not exactly the same, bit different with a complete new storyline and new layout would be epic for this park. But again will have to wait and see if that is something we see, cause who knows maybe one day? Boat ride was interesting, never saw the video of it being built, but still an interesting and amazingly immersive ride here for this park especially with nature interaction. Do think though more rides and attractions being coasters would be ideal here & thinking maybe mostly a GCI Wooden Coaster like Troy? Or was thinking if massively themed an RMC Hybrid Coaster especially like Wildfire at Kolmarden? Think something like those would be ideal for this park? Or maybe even if again massively themed around a bird or plane inside park a.k.a theming? Maybe a B&M Wing Coaster? Themed yeah either round a bird or plane like theming in park? Would be epic for thrill seekers? But apart from this, a good park ideal for more rides, attractions and yes coasters. Just came back from a good day at Alton Towers, always worth the long drive. Also im not sure if you hvae noticed this shaun but alton seems very understaffed at the moment, galactica had a 50min q but was only back to the pre flight check because of the fact they were only running 1 station. oblivion was also on 1 station. nemesis was closed all day seemingly for no reason other than short staff.
WOW I wasn't going to watch this vlog cause it was about a zoo like you I'm not keen on them I'm so glad I did now it's a fantastic place to go I was dumb struck I can see you enjoyed it and the rest of the gang to enjoyed it 😼🙈😸👴🙆
What a beautiful Park my only complaint is it didn't look like the elephants had much of an area and it looks like a big area but not for the elephants like it seem like they only had a small section but maybe that's just how it looked on camera? Really gorgeous Park and the small roller coasters I think even a older person with physical limitations could ride on either one of those they reminded me almost of Kiddy roller coasters. What you're calling the simulator ride was that like a virtual reality ride? I wish you could have showed footage of that!! I so enjoy all your videos. you guys you're just a pleasure to watch thanks for sharing! ps any plans for marriage in the future with you and Charlotte I bet that's not the first time you've been asked that LOL
I have been in Wildlands (Im Dutch, I live 30km / 20 miles away from Wildlands. The elephant area is huge. There's an indoor and an outdoor section. The outdoor section is really big, the indoor section a little smaller but still big.
The owner of the park has actually been fired today, so i don't think that adding more rides is their main goal now, since they already confirmed that they will buy more animals and lower the price of the park.
He hasn't been fired, he stepped down. They are going to assess all the white spots in the park and add more animals. The concept will not change, in the future more rides will be added, but they will focus more on tbe zoological part.
I went to Wildlands last year in the summer with my cousin, we went on the coaster and got stuck at the top of the lift hill. Pretty cool experience xD

Hey, I got a question: Are you planning on going to Walibi Holland for their 2019 addition? I know that you're not to keen on Walibi Holland, since only the newer rides (Xpress and Lost Gravity) got decent theming, and it's more focussed on the teenagers, and because you have been to the Netherlands almost every year. But since the whole Sherwood Forest, with the top spin and the magic house and Robin Hood, will be themed too 'Wilderness' and with the RMC Iron Horse, it might be interesting for you to come! Sorry for the bad English grammar by the way :-) , Can't wait for your response!
The name Tweestryd is very clever. African is a lot like dutch (has something to do with colonizing), so Dutch people can understand the name and it's in the African section so it fits. Tweestrijd (Dutch spelling) mostly means inner duel (like you don't know what to choose). The two sides are fighting for two different charities. And if a side wins, the park will donate to it's respective charity.
I'd count a dueling coaster as two separate credits but I definitely wouldn't count a Zamperla Disk'O! I mean, a Rockin' Tug is technically on a track too - where do we draw the line? 😂
Guess martin needs to visit worldgardens mondo verde in a place called landgraaf it has an island with a big group of Lemurs you can feed them and there not shy to come and get (take) it from you so alot of interaction.
Not keen on locking up animals for us to look at really... But this place does look very nice indeed definitely going to have to pay this place a visit ☺
I was looking forward to your take on this park. It has been losing money from the very beginning. They just fired the general manager. Wasn't sure if I would like to visit but you have been so enthusiastic. Interesting case study why it is hasn't been successful so far: doesn't seem to be the product. Is it the remote location, the branding, sales and marketing? What do you think?
Funny know how about dutch city's since you said that its a small city. In the netherlands "City rights" are distributed to Village's that have a slot around the center, Its still is from the old generation when Castles were the norm. that law never changed. so City's can be really small if they have a slot around them but never grew in size afterwards. In my home village its the same, its still a village but its more that 4,5 times bigger than the city that is next to it.
I know this has nothing to do with the vlog, but I need this question answered ASAP. Should I buy Planet Coaster ( the disc ) or should I download it on Steam - I'm asking because at a later stage I might want to buy a dlc but I don't know if both versions support the dlcs Thanks.
He always says 'I'm not an animal person' but then seems to like them when he sees them. I don't get why anyone wouldn't like animals tbh. I'm not a fan of a lot of zoos though unless they have huge enclosures.
this zoo is so big its a 2day/weekend park arrive friday afternoon at hotel saturday full day at zoo (visit 2/3 areas) sunday morning visit final area and sunday afternoon go back to favorite areas and than pack up stuff at hotel (side note: im using the them hotel super loose as im not sure if there even are hotels near the zoo or if its a differend thing you can stay at)
there are hotels near it. infect you can see a hotel if you are on the top of the rollercoaster. i live in this village. but its a pretty expensive hotel. believe like 60 euro per night or so. but how can you do 2 days on this park? it took me literally 3 hours and i was done with it lol.

I went to Wildlands last year in the summer with my cousin, we went on the coaster and got stuck at the top of the lift hill. Pretty cool experience xD

Hey, I got a question: Are you planning on going to Walibi Holland for their 2019 addition? I know that you're not to keen on Walibi Holland, since only the newer rides (Xpress and Lost Gravity) got decent theming, and it's more focussed on the teenagers, and because you have been to the Netherlands almost every year. But since the whole Sherwood Forest, with the top spin and the magic house and Robin Hood, will be themed too 'Wilderness' and with the RMC Iron Horse, it might be interesting for you to come!

The name Tweestryd is very clever. African is a lot like dutch (has something to do with colonizing), so Dutch people can understand the name and it's in the African section so it fits. Tweestrijd (Dutch spelling) mostly means inner duel (like you don't know what to choose). The two sides are fighting for two different charities. And if a side wins, the park will donate to it's respective charity.
I'd count a dueling coaster as two separate credits but I definitely wouldn't count a Zamperla Disk'O! I mean, a Rockin' Tug is technically on a track too - where do we draw the line? 😂
Guess martin needs to visit worldgardens mondo verde in a place called landgraaf it has an island with a big group of Lemurs you can feed them and there not shy to come and get (take) it from you so alot of interaction.
You should visit GAIAzoo in the Netherlands, its the Best Zoo i have ever been to, and its voted the Best Zoo in Europe. Its so beautiful

I was looking forward to your take on this park. It has been losing money from the very beginning. They just fired the general manager. Wasn't sure if I would like to visit but you have been so enthusiastic. Interesting case study why it is hasn't been successful so far: doesn't seem to be the product. Is it the remote location, the branding, sales and marketing? What do you think?
I'd say pay a visit yourself and perhaps you'll find out? ;).
Welsh Mountain zoo in North Wales is fantastic u can go in with the lemurs and sit down while they come on your lap ect ❤️❤️❤️

Funny know how about dutch city's since you said that its a small city. In the netherlands "City rights" are distributed to Village's that have a slot around the center, Its still is from the old generation when Castles were the norm. that law never changed. so City's can be really small if they have a slot around them but never grew in size afterwards. In my home village its the same, its still a village but its more that 4,5 times bigger than the city that is next to it.

Matt Newman zoos are the best
He always says 'I'm not an animal person' but then seems to like them when he sees them. I don't get why anyone wouldn't like animals tbh. I'm not a fan of a lot of zoos though unless they have huge enclosures.
I think he's slowly becoming an 'animal person', no matter what he might think. 😂

this zoo is so big its a 2day/weekend park
arrive friday afternoon at hotel
saturday full day at zoo (visit 2/3 areas)
sunday morning visit final area and sunday afternoon go back to favorite areas and than pack up stuff at hotel
(side note: im using the them hotel super loose as im not sure if there even are hotels near the zoo or if its a differend thing you can stay at)
there are hotels near it. infect you can see a hotel if you are on the top of the rollercoaster. i live in this village. but its a pretty expensive hotel. believe like 60 euro per night or so. but how can you do 2 days on this park? it took me literally 3 hours and i was done with it lol.
The train carriages a real. They have been used on i believe german railways in the past

Next to the train carriage the so called donkeys aren't donkeys they are Przewalski' horses. Which originates from the steppes of central Asia.
The driver of the Safari Truck said they were donkeys.

The ceo of this park was fired last week. Too bad, he tried to make this place something special and it sure looks amazing.
Personally I think it's a lot more forceful in the front, especially the red side.
