You didn't pick up on this, or at least you didn't comment about it if you did: He wrote this song during a period in his life where he was going through relapsing or at least having those ideas, thinking that he could end up ODing tomorrow or something similar. That's at least partly why it is so deep: It is his legacy, that which will live on long after he is actually gone.
Whats REALLY being said is that he's now realizing he missed the absolute most important time in his daughters life. He missed her growing up due to being on tour and being in the studio. You never get a 2nd chance to be there for your kids when they're growing up as it only happens once.
He loves Hailee more than anything. However, it has nothing to do with him loving music more than her. He’s providing a life for her that he never had. The man of the family usually does miss out on a lot because he’s making a living for his family.
I recommend any Eminem song as he is so deep and descriptive too. Probably the best rapper i have ever listened to. Mockingbird and Stan are both massive songs that deserve to be heard! Enjoy them!

Eminem is most def a story teller that's one of his best attributes. It's almost like he's painting a lyrical picture that you can see..💪🏽✌🏽
As a parent, every time I listen to this song it really makes me rethink what's important in my life...for an artist to be able to do that (especially a "controversial hip-hop artist") is a reflection of how amazing he really is at this. "Daddy, you're mine"...that line hits me every time. The battle between work and family is one that every working parent has, and I can only imagine how exponentially more difficult this would be for someone with such fame and obligations for their job.
Em's ability as a storyteller is unmatched, and that's because his songs/lyrics are so autobiographical - people connect with him on such a deep level due to him being so relatable🔥His back catalogue is so vast and literally tell his life story. Just one of the many reasons he's THEE Goat!🐐More Em please!👏👏👏
Truth! He wears his heart on his sleeve. He doesn’t hide who he is or anything he has done. It makes him real to his fans. He talks about real issues that we all have gone through in one way or another.
I think it’s really impressive, how you’re able to hear the meaning in this song. I watch a lot of young people react, and you have a special kind of intuition. This is one of his deep songs, back when he “committed suicide” as slim shady and buried his alter ego… and all of the rage he used slim to release.
This song says so so much more than just what the words convey, and the fact that you hear that means you have more empathy than most. You’re like one of the star children, lol, with superpowers.

This song touched me as a teenager and now as a parent this song represents my pain as a parent 💔. No one is perfect not even your mother and father. We try to do everything for our kids but those things we do catch up with us, like work, and somehow our intentions flip on us .

Damn near every other song since The Slim Shady LP (2nd Studio Album/1st big Mainstream Album) shows this much turmoil if not more. It's one of his main go-to's within his massive repertoire pretty much since day 1. It is beast, for sure.

A lot of people have different reasons why Eminem is the greatest of all time. It all comes down to one thing to me this man when he realized he was running from something he stopped he faced it and he told us all about it it's also the reason why nobody can beat him in a battle because he doesn't have any skeletons cuz he let it all out and he let it all go that's the lesson Eminem tries to teach us all let it go let it out and let it go cuz the only person that can make you happy is you the only person that could control your emotions or you other people can try to manipulate you but it's still up to you make your choices and know that there are some of us out here that love you no matter what choices you make as long as you don't hurt other people I still love you have a great day and don't think for a second that I don't know I don't really matter that much but to those that I do matter to I matter a tremendous amount

Kim really did try to cut her wrists after she went to a concert of Eminem's and he said he wasn't going to play the song "KIM" (btw, recommended to listen, it is INTENSE and you can understand why she felt how she felt), and he ended up singing it anyways including demonstrating her as a blow up doll on stage. Eminem really was in an asshole stage at that point in his life..but he also was dealing with her infidelity in which he really did try to pistol whip a guy and ended up in court because of it.
the irony of the song is he was trying to succed in music for Hailey, to earn enough so he can give her a better life that he had, living in a trailer with abusive mom. while giving his everything to make it in rap game he was losing his doughter. at this point i think he felt like its a lose lose situation for his family life .
