As far as I know, the bit about "Help Mommy, her wrists are bleeding" wasn't out of nowhere fear either. He once had a concert and did "Kim", while Kim, the real one, was in the audience. As far as I remember, he didn't know she would be there, if he did, it was one of the mistakes he regrets. She went home that night, trying to end her life.
That's why it's part of this story, I also believe that he reiterates a dream he truly did have. His fears accumulated into it, like the entire scene with Hailie in the audience, screaming at him. Instead of walking towards her, as a normal situation would call for, in his dream, she is the embodiment of his fear; losing her. So you see him step away; he retreats on the stage, as she yells at him. That's why I believe it is a true story and also that he is a great actor and screenplay writer, not just a great lyricist. He conveys so much, even in his videos. But also, last but not least, through the lines of course, they aren't irrelevant. Notice how Hailie becomes his demon, as she goes from more childlike, into his own self criticising his own life choices. As she evolves the way she addresses him from "Daddy", to "Dad", to "Marshall".

saw someone say he wrote this because he thought he was going to die from his addiction, but from what Eminem has shared himself, he's never mentioned it once as context for this song. (though around this time (2005) he was very much an addict and in 06 it got much worse and 07 he almost died from an overdose)
the song is primarily about how his career was destroying his family, and how the guilt of leaving all the time consumed him. he said "It takes you through the journey of the guilt trip that almost consumed me on a daily basis of leaving my family for the stage, and basically just the bad feelings and guilt you get from doing that, being on the road and gone so much." and he also said "I knew with everything that [I’ve gone] through this year, and coming out of rehab, I knew that I had to make a song that said “If I’m gonna put the mic done for a little while, let me explain why”. Because the stress, the pressure, the guilt and everything in-between has led me up to this point where I feel like this year I just kinda cracked." and he said the song was the death of slim shady and how he didn't want the life he had anymore due to it essentially destroying his family. he said his leaving was mainly hailie it was affecting too, and he didn't know where his career was going so if this was going to be the end he wanted this song to be out there to let people know why.
in the 2nd verse, he also shared that hailie, in real life, really did pile boxes in front of the door to stop him leaving: "[When Hailie would put boxes in front of the door] it would kill me. Just writing the song, when I hear the second verse of that song, everything in it is so true… There’s two songs that I’ve done where I was in the booth recording the songs [because] I’ve been teary eyed. “Mockingbird” and this new song are probably the most emotional that I’ve [written]."
this is what he said about the chorus too in a book he released in 2008 after he got clean: "I was basically saying, I don't want this life anymore. I liked having Slim Shady around, but he'd become so famous that it had damn near destroyed my family. [..] My fame is still there though. That's my reality, and there is some tragedy in that."
and in 2000? i think it was 2000, it was around those years, he performed part of the song "Kim" on tour, it was his tour intro and he would then go into a skit about her & use this blow up doll and he was not very nice with it and then it would play into the next song "Kill You" which he'd dedicate to her. He did this in Detroit, he was aware she was in attendance too, and when this happened she went home and attempted suicide. after this i believe he removed the "Kim" intro from the setlist of the tour, he also stopped doing the skit. he's never performed the song live in full and i believe he regrets it too. he also apologises to Kim for many things on the songs "Going Through Changes" and "Bad Husband"
Eminem is a natural born storyteller. The way he makes you feel with the things he says has no limit. He has always been this way. I understand what you were saying about his "goofy" songs, but sometimes it takes a little comedy to deal with the way life has treated you. Your visible emotion along with his words is an amazing feat as a human, showing that we all feel pain and understand things people are going through. Great reaction!!!

Great reaction man, Eminem once turn 100 million dolar tour because he didn't want to miss his girl growing up, when he won a grammy for the lose yourself song he wasn"t there he was with his daughter watching cartoons, 50 cent said Em didn't want 8 million dolars for a series, i mean what i mean by this is that Em when he finally make it, he was focus on her family, he knows that one day with his daughter is worth more than all the money in the world, but he made it he gave hailie the univerity and with that he was more than satisfy, he doesn't care much about the money just for him being able to give his family the best is all he wants
Actually this song was made when em was addicted and he didnt think he would survive the addiction, so thats why he said he didnt feel a thing because he was afraid he would die of an OD.

Yeah he was my number 1 for awhile....but now it's just maybe like 7 songs actually listen to on a regular basis, all that dumb crap just not into, there's lyrics and bars no doubt but I perfer music that hits me now that im older
