Just a little bit of information about why Eminem wrote this song. He wrote it during the height of his pill addiction and thought he would genuinely die from his drug addiction. He wrote this song as a goodbye to his daughter hence the chorus. Didn't see anyone else tell you this so wanted to share that!
i like this interpretation but he did write it in 2004 (released 2005 so his addiction did get worse despite that brief stint in rehab back then & we all know about 06 and 07) but i don't think he's ever said it was because he thought he'd die from it. he wrote the song because he wanted to kill slim shady in particular. in the book "the way i am" that he released in 2008 he said this about the chorus: "I was basically saying, I don’t want this life anymore. I liked having Slim Shady around, but he’d become so famous that it had damn near destroyed my family. […] My fame is still there though. That’s my reality, and there is some tragedy in that." while it could also be a nod to addiction, it seems more that he literally wanted to just go live a family life, he didn't want shady, he didn't want the fame, he wanted it all gone as it was destroying what he loved most. in an mtv interview too he mentioned he wrote this because of the guilt and the stress he was constantly going through having to leave his family, he hated it so much and the guilt was always there and other things too he said he just cracked. he also stated he had no idea where his career was going and thought it could've been over, so he wanted to let people know why he was gonna be gone.
@@himynameisash8this is correct but also the one about drugs is also real cause in a deleted interview you can still find on the internet he talks about the drugs and when I'm gone and how it relates to the song
@@unkowN805 could you tell me the interview cause i don't think i've seen it and i'd like to! i just don't like how people are kind of.... making comments like this persons though and ignoring everything else he said about the song, considering a lot of it is about the guilt of leaving that really messed with him, which is such an awful thing to cope with. but also, the quote from the book that came out in 2008 when he was clean, i think that's important too, it goes to show that maybe he did mention drugs once but there's more to it than that too, and it's just as important and also just as heartbreaking.
"Cleaning Out My Closet" was a song he did bc his mom had munchhausen syndrom (she drugged him and his brother). Twenty years later he makes "Headlights", it's soul breaking 😭❤
@@jayc5756 nope, she has Munchausen syndrome, especifically the variant called "munchausen syndrome by proxy". Em probably has ptsd considering his medical abuse, and him saying it in his songs.
Absolutely love the reaction. You both did a wonderful job. This song hits me in the feelings every time I hear it. The amount of effort he puts into each and every song he does that is in some way tied to his family is nothing short of legendary. He has always been a natural born storyteller and can make you feel like you are in the same room while he is singing/rapping. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this video
Some people can rap good or even great, some can make good dance music and some are just musical geniuses. Em is a musical genius, there aren't many of those as far as rappers.
hands down, the best reaction streamers. You two put your feelings into it, and I love it. I love that you two understand the song on an emotional level. and at the same time, I'm sad for it. I might be wrong, but, in my ears, it sounds like the two of you are Haitians. There is a lot of bad stuff happening in Haiti at the moment. If you still have family there, I will give them all my love and prayers. Please keep making videos; you two are the most authentic I've seen out of anyone. much, much love. thank you
i just watched 1 of your videos before this and i love you two because you seem like such kindred and kind people, you seem very nice i hope you live greater lives
I remember this when it was released. Loved Eminem then. Still loving him today. Cool reaction. Thanks for this little reminder of one my yesterdays. Shoutout from your guy in the States. Peace and love, Starr. See ya. Later.
We gotta remember that em wrote this at the height of his addiction, leaving his emotions out there, not just for hailee but also the two other girls he adopted, this is one of the many reasons why em is the most potent rapper lyricist to ever pick up the mic, fella is a genius.
This is literally the epitome of the pain, pressure, and price of fame and fortune. Precisely why you can have it all and still have nothing. " What does it profit a man to gain everything and lose his soul?"
For your generation there's alooooooooot you need to know in other for you to fully understand. But start with understanding the different people; Eminem, Slim shady and Marshall. All one person but different personalities
Of course, what he's asking for doesn't feel possible. To carry on and remember him fondly without despair when you hear his voice after hes gone. That's the entire point of the song. He wasn't doing well when he wrote this from what i understand, he didnt expect to see his daughters grow up. This was a "goodbye" at the time. He just ended up stickin around a lot longer than he imagined he would.
When I was much younger I didn't enjoy any rap music, I would usually listen to West life or back street boys and other Rnb music. My elder brothers played lot of rap music but I was never drawn to any of it until I heard Eminem's like toy soldiers. That was the first time I started appreciating rap music, the story telling patterns and Em's multi syalbic rhyme scheme, and dynamic got me hooked. I can totally relate to these ladies saying rap music has never made them feel this way before Marshall is a gift to hip hop.
Not sure if anyone else has said this yet but Em writes songs from different parts of his persona. This and Mockingbird are very personal and from Marshal. Then there are songs from the aspect of Eminem, most raps, beefs and such. Then you have his "crazy" alter ego Slim Shady... Songs that are sarcastic and pushes peoples buttons, fun but offensive to some .
Who requested this, 😂they want y’all to cry again Eminem helped me a lot with my emotions and how to express myself when I was younger and it’s funny because he can be very aggressive and scary but it’s still genuine so I learned hot to appreciate him and his story telling. The way he says things helps us see it in our minds eye it’s very realistic, and I also learned how to tell the difference between truth and lies with his expression and music. I’m glad you guys reacted to him❤
Good reaction keep up what you ladies doing the next one should do is Clean Out My Closet by Eminem and after doing that checkout Headlight also by Eminem
"But black people don't listen to Eminem" get tf outta here. Em's music is so relatable that everyone can relate, no matter what race and this is amazing to see people's first reaction to these amazing classics from his library. You all have a HUGE catalogue to go through so enjoy. Em gives that "goosebump" and "lumped up throat" music sometimes that it's just perfection.
Infelizmente eu não falo inglês. Mas emocionei-me bastante ver a Jovem a chorar ao ouvir a música do grande Eminem. Creio que tem uma mensagem muito forte. Beijo. Gostei da jovem de Branco kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
its fine to cry. it shows your emotionally connected and you are about other people.

I didn't know that at all that's insanely sad
"I didn't feel a thing. So baby don't feel no pain just smile back. Exactly thinking he was going to die from overdose.

This man loves his kids. Loves hip hop. Enjoy this ride. We still have this lyrical master.
Eminem is the GOAT for storytelling!
he created the most intense emotional songs during this period of time
Aww your emotions and reactions are so pure ❤
The official death of slim shady. Put it to my brain, screaming die shady and pop it. Lyrical fucking genius.
