      In Hollywood... character introduction is not so much done this way. Watch Indian movies not everything is good some maybe cringe ... yet I suggest war, dhoom, bahubali, there are many nothing comes to mind now. See these ...you will like the build ups. John wick is liked by all ... like the fourth was a sensation in India. However I became fan of him from the first one itself. And ofcourse who won't like Keanu reeves ❤

      I say it's all the more amplified by Viggo's simple.."Oh" in response to hearing who it was. For a mob...nyet, a Russian(!) mob boss to say "oh" as in 'now I know what happened and oh shit' helped set up that little detail. It's powerful, to be sure, but I think set up by the "oh".

      I read somewhere that John's official introduction was a great inversion of the horror movie "harbinger" trope, where someone knowledgeable warns the main character(s) of a coming or dormant evil and gets ignored. In this film, however, the monster (Viggo's son) in being warned that the main character is coming, and he also initially ignores it. 😆

    What makes so good is that it’s the villains explaining why they are scared of him. It didnt have to show what he did, he doesnt have to prove himself, these are already basically mob bosses saying “dont mess with this guy” and when someone messed with him the head basically said “you just destroyed us, he’s going to get you, and there isn’t much I can do for you”. Such a good way to introduce the main character.

    The funny thing about John Wick is that it wasn't just about the dog, it was about respect and being allowed to just mourn in peace. John wasn't even given the courtesy, and for it to come from a group and person who he worked for and fought for to make him the man he is that day is just one step too far. At the end of the day, John was never going to be allowed to live in peace after what he went through in his life.

It’s so frustrating how long it takes to make these films so I waited until they were all released as I am a huge fan of Keanu Reeves and I don’t think I blinked more than three times during all of the films for fear of missing someone getting shot in the head in the chest at the same time. Donnie Yen who played the blind assassin. Caine and also played Ip Man {Bruce Lee teacher from China} is my old time favourite martial arts actor and as a martial arts instructor myself I can tell you the guy is Good. And it all began when Michael Nyquist said "He wasn't exactly the boogie man; he was the one you sent to kill the f***ing boogie man..." That is perfect dialog...

Let him drink his, but didn't drink his own, and put it down on a table.. that is a sign of disrespect.. and later when he needed a drink, he poured himself a new one, not touching the put down glass.. a subtle overlook gesture by many seeing the movie, but with a significant meaning..

    Interesting fact: in Russia in the olden days the word "baba" called women who were able to give birth to a son or lived to old age.
    Baba Yaga is character in fairy tales, a witch ogre with a bony leg. And not one russian speaker would never give the nickname Baba Yaga to a man.
    Because the meaning of the word "baba" has changed over the years and to call him Baba Yaga is like calling him an old chick 😂. The russians are laughing by the way at the moment when John Wick is called Baba Yaga.
    I think that the writers of the movie just typed into Google translator boogeyman and in russian got Baba Yaga.

    • @Rogue_Centurion
      @Rogue_Centurion 2 месяца назад +2

      From what I read the Baba Yaga is often accompanied by Death who consumes souls. The Baba Yaga is also know for sorcery. I could be wrong though. Maybe they might be referring to Baba Yaga’s companion? Or maybe they got that mixed up with the Babay, which is the Boogeyman

    • @АндрейТитов-я1ы
      @АндрейТитов-я1ы 2 месяца назад

      @@Rogue_Centurion In folk tales, Baba Yaga is a witch who kidnaps naughty children or kills "добрых молодцев" (young men) who have wandered in.
      In her companions she has a black cat familiar, which is sometimes associated with death.
      And it is unlikely that the screenwriters meant a cat.
      They were too lazy to find out and just translated Boogeyman and got Baba Yaga
