    Keelan has one pair of quick hands.... WOW. A COMMAND PERFORMANCE KEELAN! Even the backsticking and other movements you used in your routines were very well executed and well played. Really enjoyed watching you play! AMAZING! I can't imagine him and Brandon Olander in the same drumline!

    At 3:17 he is doing something old school. Jeff Prosperie would do this in his warm ups and solos.
    I believe it is a singled handed five. Keelan has incredible sound quality on this, most of the time you can make it out. not to mention the speed is impressive. Learning this is a matter of being relaxed and just pushing the notes out.

    Sadly, in 2022, the 50th Anniversary of DCI, the braintrust behind the organization decided to quietly eliminate the I&E completion altogether. Thanks to Keelan and so many other Blue Devil drummers who kept the tradition alive for as long as they could. If not for Scott Johnson, the Individual compeition would've likely died long ago.

    @silfner1 the term "chops" applies to anyone who plays an instrument. Having the endurance to play well for long periods of time is considered chops.

    Today is I and E 2015... One can only hope that someone (Brandon Olander) can pull off a solo as sick as this. But a Blue Devil has won every snare I and e since like the beginning of time (don't look that up that fact predates technology) so that should continue

    I'm going to make an educated guess and say he was playing a roll with the sticking as rrrrll. Well, I should explain a little further. The center snare for my university can play a triplet roll with that sticking (he marches for blue knights) and what I believe Keelan is doing in that segment is playing some sort of variation of that as it looks similar to what my drum captain can do. This is just my assumption.

    @sumbooodeeee well im going to one of the camps for 2013 if i don't go to Impulse but my friend did and they teach you some basic stuff for 2 days and at the end you audition in front of them that's pretty much how camp works. Just remember don't be intimidated go with the vets and one up them :)

      Practice...lots and lots of practice and study difficult charts but playing stuff like this isn't just WILLY nilly for the average guy or gal, your muscles have to learn this...
