Thanks for the heads up on BCM. Literally had their 11.5 upper in my cart and while looking for reviews I found your video. I bought a DD 11.5 upper instead

Nice build I have the 10.3 barrel, well actually its a mk18 "Inspiration" build although it did cost me quite of bit of money, but I went with the Owl Rein full size light, and so far I love it, I have no complaints. Good luck
Great build! You’re articulate and very objective in your review. Thank you. EOTech, unlike Aimpoint, is made in America. It feels good to shoot an American made rifle with all American accessories. I believe EOTech is moving forward in their product improvement and development. I love their products and will continue to show them love.
Validate those skills with locals! See where you actually stand. USPSA in PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine, or any pistol divisions) transfers well in competition as it does with tactical application.
I recently completed an 11.5" PSA AR in 5.56 chambering. I left it a pistol though. lol. I did switch out the A2 flash hider for a Midwest Industries Blast Diverter.
Something you could do is just get a holoson 515, mounts right up to the unity fast mount has the same footprint as the aimpoints and it has the donut of death with center dot you're lookin for that eotech has. The holoson dots are rugged as shit and about a third of the price depending on the dot. It's what I'm runnin on my 13.7.
He runs night vision though. That needs to be taken into account. The T2 is far superior to the 515 in that aspect. Just like he said in the video, the EOTECH is worth revisiting because it's the best red dot style optic for quick target acquisition, glass clarity, durability, field of view thru glass, night vision, and parallax. The only thing that stands with it reasonably for all of that criteria is Sig's new Romeo 8T.
ok what about this question. I currently have a 13.7 and i want to build a shorter AR next. Hypothetically would you still build an 11.5 even tho u got a 13.7? Or would you go with a 10.3 for more of a range of ARs to use?
A lot of similarities to my 12.5" SBR. Criterion barrel (hybrid profile in my case), BCM bcg, I had a Geissele SSA in it but it now has a CMC combat curve. Had the Samson vfg but now wears a cut down Magpul MVG, same BCM furniture and a T1 in a FAST mount. I also have a Primary Arms magnifier in the FAST FTC mount and the handguard is an SLR ION 11.7". Sucks that you had such trouble with BCM (I just watched the other vid) but it's nice that the other companies stepped up to offer help. Nice build!
The Criterion barrels are amazing… I’m NOT the worlds best shooter but my 1:8 11.5 Criterion (in a Midwest upper) is noticeably more accurate than anything else I own regardless of the ammo quality (obviously better ammo, better results) but what a performer. Great to see that’s a consistent theme from other buyers.
Did you chrono this? I'm going to do an 11.5" with this barrel + headspaced BCM bolt and i'm very curious what to expect. I feel like its a somewhat well kept secret for whatever reason - the Core series barrels seem to be very fast/low drag. I used their 13.9" + headspaced bolt for a main AR build and chrono'd quite a few loads. 5.56 averages were as follows: IMI 55gr FMJ: 3,059 FPS IMI 77gr OTM: 2,747 FPS AAC 69gr OTM: 2,798 FPS Win 62gr Open Tip: 3,089 FPS That last type of ammo is likely loaded to m855a1/very close to max 5.56 specs - its an export training load for Australian defense entities made by Winchester. Its by far the hottest 5.56 i've come across. I also chrono'd tula steelcase .223 55gr FMJ, Wolf gold 55gr .223 and Winchester 62gr "RED223" all at 2,800 - 2,850 fps.
Great video! That is a solid build you have there man! I have a BCM completer upper I run right now that I’m thinking about tweaking so I think I’m gonna take some ideas from you 😉 keep up the good work!
Hey. Great & informative vid! Really helpful towards considerations with my setup.. I'm also considering the Geissele buffer/spring combo; their website recommends either H2 or H3 for an 11.5" barrel, BUT H3 if suppressed. I'm curious & interested in learning why you chose the H2 buffer over the H3, esp given that you shoot suppressed 9/10x? Please share your thoughts.
It's easy to adjust the gas port size to account for it being 'over gassed. If your rifle is over gassed, it's because the company didn't build it correctly-- or they did it on purpose to ensure that it will run the weaker steel ammo.. But it has nothing to do with barrel length.
Nice rig bro . You definitely did your homework.. Check out Holoson HS512C . Its LED version of Eotech.. I had issues with Super 42 Spring . So I went back to tried and True SPRINGCO BLUE

They were founded as a budget alternative to the "top" makers like Colt, Armalite, Bushmaster (yes, Bushmaster was the hot stuff back in the day). BCM do not make their parts, they outsource it and assemble it. The same as PSA (slaying some sacred cows there). The consequence to this is that they are dependent on availability of lots from various manufacturers and this is the source of the problems. This is the "tolerance stacking" thing that was trendy to talk about a few years ago. This is why while people will talk about "quality" in reality what matters most to quality is parts being made in house which reduces the mix and match issues. While in truth, mixing parts is unlikely to cause much issue due to how standardized and widespread the AR specs are, but if you are a quality snob then it doesn't make sense to buy an AR from a company that doesn't make their own parts. This is one of the reason Daniel Defense is loved and also why the DD vs BCM comparisons are a joke to anyone who knows anything about the build. The problem is, like knives most people judge an AR by its cost without actually understanding what actually makes one AR better than another.
What kinda of gas block are you using? I'm currently in the process of planning out my first 11.5 suppressed SBR build and im trying to get some ideas on what to use. Besides that thanks a lot for the video man! It was really helpful.
@@kremlin3823 man I wondered the same thing. And from what I can gather adjustable gas block are just another possible fail point. Have you felt the need to add an adjustable bolt carrier due to over-gassing on the 11.5" length at all? Looking to build a pistol AR15 and was debating between 10.5" and 11.5" overall barrel length and your video has been very informative---the added 40% dwell time is worth the extra 1" length in the 11.5" model I think. Thanks!!
I have a 11.3 suppressed with a full size Saker 556. It's known to have a heavy increase in back pressure. I run a Raptor-SD, Lantac E-BCG, Law Folder, Super 42 spring. and BA Hanson low profile barrel. Since the shortage and everything else I've exclusively shot Tula and saving my brass. Steel case as well as it being an underpowered load, I haven't had problems without the suppressor. I later swapped the block for a Superlative AGB as the venting feature seamed interesting, and it took a while to get it reliably on bolt hold. I'm just into the vent setting as you can use it as a non-vented restricted block also. The extra inch on the barrel, as you stated, removes the need for an adjustable bolt. But there's other factors that play into that. Ammo used, barrel harmonics port size, muzzle device, etc.
What distance is this rifle zeroed in? I just finished my 11.5 SBR build and I’m torn between a 36yd zero and a 50yd zero. I’ve heard good arguments for both. I’m running an unity riser and a red dot as well.

He raves about how flat it shoots and that it basically has no recoil and thinks that’s somehow a triarc thing? I don’t see what’s different making it recoil less, I’d say it’s more about a properly gassed and having the right buffer system and a good brake? In your video your bcm barely moves at all with your setup. I’d say mine recoils a decent bit harder. I honestly think it’s poor body positioning on my part and possibly the jp buffer system? Thoughts? Thanks! Been following on Instagram for a while and just found your RUclips channel
if your friend has a 11.5 triarc suppressed only barrel and mixed with him having the brake/A5 system, that could be a combination of reasons for the less recoil.
Gas, buffer, and muzzle device are huge factors. I’d say body is the most important but if you get those other factors right it will make a substantial difference.
Idk if its because im lanky and relatively strong for my size, but 16 inch barrels just do it for me. I don't see the big deal about these shorter barreled rifles. I ran a 12.5 for years and went back to 16. Never looked back. Nice rifle tho.
@@TheEngineerShooter I don't have a can yet so I can see that. But most people I know personally don't have them either and they insist on running the shortest barrel possible lol it seems like they are just following a trend, to me. If you are regularly running a suppressor tho, it makes sense.
I think he did otherwise he wouldn't be mentioning the different barrel lengths. 40% dwell time is usually a point brought up with 11.5 vs 10.5 in 5.56. Plus he has a criterion core which I believe is only in .223/5.56
Between 10.3 and 11.5, which one is more fun to shoot? How about quad rail vs thinner rail? I’m back and forth between mk18 or 11.5BCM with QRF or mlok

Idk if its because im lanky and relatively strong for my size, but 16 inch barrels just do it for me. I don't see the big deal about these shorter barreled rifles. I ran a 12.5 for years and went back to 16. Never looked back. Nice rifle tho.
11.5 with a can is 16”ish OAL. shorter barrel allow you to have rifle and suppressor in a more compact package. Easier to maneuver in vehicles / CQB.
@@TheEngineerShooter I don't have a can yet so I can see that. But most people I know personally don't have them either and they insist on running the shortest barrel possible lol it seems like they are just following a trend, to me. If you are regularly running a suppressor tho, it makes sense.
Gun tacticool community gives me headaches. I've witnessed 4 doughnut operators at the range arguing over barrel length.
dope rifle...shoulda got a BCM xD
Are you Shawn Hunter from Boy Meets World?
How does that h2 buffer feel when unsuppressed?
You seem to have gone all out on this build but did you chamber this in 5.56?
I think he did otherwise he wouldn't be mentioning the different barrel lengths. 40% dwell time is usually a point brought up with 11.5 vs 10.5 in 5.56. Plus he has a criterion core which I believe is only in .223/5.56
Slick shoot’n man
Between 10.3 and 11.5, which one is more fun to shoot? How about quad rail vs thinner rail? I’m back and forth between mk18 or 11.5BCM with QRF or mlok
I'd go 11.5 with MLOK
