  • In this video I show you not only how to change the springs in my 2.4L Turbo wastegate, but how to change the entire wastegate itself due to an unfortunate discovery.

Hey Mike. Good informative video. Do enjoy each and everyone.
I second the suggestion on a T handle Allen key set. I would even up the suggestion box to using your cordless drill. Keep the camera rolling for us.
    Have a great day

Thanks Daryl. I'm glad you like the videos. I probably will go out and get a T-Handle allen set when I need to use one again.

5:10 I can't believe the diaphragm gave out like that. I have an external HKS wastegate on one of my cars and it is all cast iron and has cooling fins on it to shed the temperature of the exhaust outlet. I can't imagine a cast aluminum wastegate lasting.

Well, I'm sure I'll eventually find out. The original owner of this turbo setup told me that the wastegate was black when he installed it and the heat turned it into the gold color. So I'll keep an eye on mine and if I start seeing the color changing, then I know it's getting too hot.

@@MikesHouseOfMods Great job, Mike. Keep the fuel ratio in check, and you'll be fine. Glad to see you actually use your car in autocross.

@@afternoongarage Thanks. I have a wideband air/fuel guage on my A-Pillar to keep an eye on the fuel ratio. It came in real handy during the tune. As for autocross, this car is a blast to race with. And now with the added turbo, I can get from one cone to the next quite a bit faster...lol.

As far as the rpm motor sports remote tuning goes, do you pay for the tuning once until it is finished or is each change made an extra charge?

Justin L. I second this question

    • @justinl.5527
      @justinl.5527 4 года назад

ImaScranbob I have a turbo waiting for my 2.4, just waiting on some more parts and figuring out the tuning.

When I had RPM tune my car when I did the 2.4 Stage 2 upgrade (no turbo), they kept tuning it until it was complete. I would assume once finished...if I added something else (such as a high flow cat), they would charge to retune. However, the tuner I used when installing my turbo charged me a one time fee and provided 6 months of tuning. So basically, even if my tune is complete, and I decide to change injectors, or Cai or whatever, as long as it's within 6 months, he won't charge me anything extra.

Hey Mike, I'm looking to do this same setup (I've currently got the K04 on my 2006 LE5/2.4). What turbo are you running? I'm trying to get a consistent 10 psi, but I haven't been able to pin anyone down that runs a T3 manifold with a decent turbo for the 2.4. I'm torn between the GT3071 and the S252 but I'm looking to replicate a build that currently runs like yours. Any help is appreciated!

    Hey Mike
Great little video, love it that you show everything including the little slips & drops makes it real & not all edited out.
Like you I was surprised to see the silicone seal melted to a blob, wonder if the new one will suffer the same fate. get your self a set of T handle Allen wrenches so much easier to work with. Keep up the good work as we all appreciate the effort that you go through for us.

Thanks. I try to keep it as real as possible. I too was surprised when I saw that diaphragm. As you saw, I had my wife helping to keep the spring from shooting out at us. Well that wasn't a problem...lol.

Nice video, Mike. Seemed pretty straightforward for a change (meaning, nothing too difficult about this kind of thing whereas it seems most situations can actually be pretty daunting). Anyway, I'm still waiting on a swap video... Let me know when you decide to vlog a V8 drop. ;.)
    Keep up the great work!

Thanks. Not sure when an LS swap will happen, but that would be pretty cool.
