    The previous owner of my Sky had a USB port in place of the 12 volt, and while convenient, I wanted the 12 volt too, so I ordered a kit and now have both with the usb ports about 2 inches above above where the 12 volt is at to allow for enough space for the plugs when mounted on the plastic. It's good to have both in case you have an inflator and need to fill your tire.

    my redline just got a hardtop permanently installed. I’d seriously consider a hardtop. Even if you get the one you take off, it’s way better for the rain.

    Mike, I just redid my taillights on my Sky. You are going to keep getting fading if you do not reclear them. I would highly recommend some Spraymax 2K clearcoat as they will end up looking brand new again. Just be sure to use the proper respirator as it is automotive paint shop grade. Made my scratched and beat taillights look like they just rolled off the showroom floor.

    If you’re going to do the vinyl wrap you can probably do it yourself, although having somebody to help put it on and pull it tight will help. 3M or vivid are both good brands, make sure you clean the surface really well first because imperfections can still show up through the wrap. When I did my car it was my first time doing a whole wrap, and it turned out looking really nice, I’ve gotten many compliments on it. Since you’re just doing a stripe or a big stripe over the top, you won’t have to deal with very many hard creases or compound curves around the bumpers.

      Thanks. I would love to do the entire car, but that may be more than I could handle right now. I think starting with just the hood and trunk wrap would be good for now and then maybe do the entire car later. I'm glad to hear yours worked out. I'd love to see how it looks.

    Hey Mike thanks for the Preview for 2022.
    See you have a new garage to work in. I did the LED strip in my trunk of my Solstice. I put mine up higher sonic cast the light better l thought. I found the details on a Solstice forum.
    Also l did see a pretty good instructions on changing the guages on a Solstice forum also. Look forward to your video as l know you will show the detail of the install as you always do.
    Keep up the informative videos.
    Cheers

      Thanks for the info about the trunk lights. I believe the gauges are easier on the Solstice because you just have to take the front pieces off. With the Sky, you have to take off the entire top of the dash....and maybe the bottom. Haven't figured it out yet.

    Regarding the trunk lights. My hubby installed the trunk lights you mentioned but then also installed led lights on the deck lid so that light shines from above. It is super nice and much better than just leds inside the trunk.

    Hey Mike, one thing you mentioned that you might reconsider. Swapping out the cigarette lighter port for a permanent USB charging port might come back to bite you later. If you ever have to use the air pump in the trunk to air up a low/flat tire while you're out and about, you won't have a port to power it if you remove the cig port.

    • @LiqdPT
      @LiqdPT 2 года назад +1

      I didn't see that as him swapping out his cigarette lighter port (unless I really don't know where that port is on a Sky). I thought he was adding a port to his dash (putting a new hole)
      EDIT: sorry, I didn't watch far enough. I thought you were talking about the AA port. Ya, I agree. Put in a low profile adapter in the socket rather than switching it. That when when changing standards change again, it's easy to swap.

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  2 года назад +1

      Yeah. That's probably what I'll end up doing. I have a battery powered air pump, but having the 12V as a backup wouldn't be a bad idea.

    • @tomsennott1943
      @tomsennott1943 2 года назад

      I added a "shorty" double USB plug-in port from Amazon. The "shorty" one ends up pretty much flush with the dash.
      Quick, simple, looks great and yes, I have needed the cig port for electricity occasionally, so it works great.

    If you get a recent seat just for the driver side, then you don’t have to worry about the airbag sensor, but you will have to worry about how wide that seat is so it’ll fit between the door and a transmission tunnel. If you want to replace the passenger seat as well, you might have to accept that there will be no good way to replace the passenger airbag sensor, it seems like it’s just too fragile of a part to put into a whole different seat.

    Your channel is a wonderful wealth of knowledge, Mike. Thanks so much. I haven’t gone through the whole library, yet so forgive me if you’ve answered this. I am about to dive into Kappa world with a Solstice GXP. The question is, if you were back to complete stock and had a couple of extra grand to spend, how would you spend it? Ie. critical mods. Would you go with the exhaust and injector swap right away? Was the stage 2 satisfactory? Has anything come down the line since that caused you to say “Damn, I should have gone ‘that’ way”. Any insight/ advice on initial mods for a more linear or lower rpm power experience?
    Thanks again. You’ve got a new follower, here.

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  Год назад

      Thanks so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. As to your question. I started with a stock 2.4 base so if you're asking about how I would spend the money on that car, I would say adding the turbo. But mainly because I wanted more power for autocross racing. However, my answer may be different from yours based on what you want to do with your car. If I had a stock GXP, I would upgrade the suspension....again....because I autocross race. But if I didn't race, then I would probably do more on the "looks" mods such as adding a touch screen radio, doing some LED lighting all around, new carpet mats, those types of things since the GXP already has the power. So again, it all depends on what you want to use the car for.

    I have EBC blue stuff pads on my car, and they grip really well at autocross, and on the street. They only made a little bit of noise for a couple days when I first installed them, and after being on for a while they do not make any additional squeaking on the street.

      Hi Joe. Thanks for the comments. Sorry to set you back a bit :) As for the removable hardtop, I heard the Redline ones are nice but take some time to make them fit right. I believe Norm at Norm's Fiberglass sells one....at least for the Solstice but not 100% positive for the Sky. His products are the best, but because they're hand made, it takes a while to get them.
