woodturning a twice turned yew bowl

- I made a twice-turned bowl from a piece of yew.
I cut a bowl blank from a fresh piece of yew and roughly turned it into a bowl shape.
After turning, I treated the bowl with several layers of sealer so that the wood can dry slowly and evenly.
I let the bowl dry for more than a year before turning it a second time and finishing it.
The bowl was somewhat deformed by drying, so I first mounted the bowl in the colejaws and rotated the bottom and recess again.
When the bottom was flat again and the recess was round, I mounted the bowl with the recess on the chuck and turned the bowl and finished it.
For the finish, I first used a few coats of sealer and when it had hardened, sanded it to 600 grit and finished it with friction polish.
The bowl has a diameter of 22 centimeters and is 8 centimeters high.
Looks great Hans! I still have some of that Yew, looks like a piece of the same trunk as what you gave me.
Mine has become a tealight and a box. One half is still waiting to be turned.
Thank you Leo, it could be that it comes from the same tree trunk, I have so much wood that I can't keep track of it, I'm curious what you are going to make from that other piece of yew that you have.
Yew doesn't grow that big around here but sure is nice to turn.
Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it.
I have seen larger diameters than this, but they usually contain many bark inclusions because they contain multiple cores and are therefore difficult to work with and dangerous to turn
