Know what the best part of this video is? The clicky permanent marker. Never seen one before. Blew my tiny mind.
same
Lol found one of those at my school. (Totally took it home)
I thought it's Just a pen
Same
K 26 and Beyond is a great idea. Thank you.
There are lots of upgrade catch springs in ball point pens.
Really? Now I have a use for my broken pens...
I bought some pens from dollar tree and they have some nice springs so I bought like 6 packs so I have like 20 catch strings and tons of use less pens
I lost a stryfe magazine release spring and used a cut down pen spring. It was very good.
@@dyllankolinen as long as you have one that still works all that means is you have one good pen and a large supply of ink replacements, the shells, well those idk what to tell ya but as long as there good pens then there ya go
@@neonman54 but also... Using parts from broken pens to fix pens is a use of broken pens.
Theres so much Nerf Science teaching in this series you should add Professor to your titles
X men?
I was gonna ask if that would make him professor x but someone beat me to it
Dr Sir Professor Captian Xavier
Dr sir professor captain Xavier sounds good
I must say. I have such high respect for the Captain taking time out of his day to make vids just to help us newbies understand the processes of modding. Thanks to this video I've officially modded my firestrike and its my first ever mod. Thanks a million Captain
I'm really looking forward to this series. Having had access to everything from a small amount of hand tools, all the way up to a full blown machine shop, I really want to see how Cap progresses through the tiers of hardware and tooling.
The way changing techniques and tooling can advance your capabilities is something that makes my inner min/maxing nerd brain incredibly happy.
Captain Zavier: says Captain Zavier

Hey Captain, in this hobby teaching is never a waste of time. I think you are one of the best when it comes to making it simple and instructive. I use your wiring diagrams from Facebook whenever I am doing flywheelers. Keep it up and thank you so much for all your efforts.
Your collection of tools in your colors is extremely impressive! Great new series. inspiring me to finally do up the firestrike i have sitting in a box... Thanks!
Captain
Super great video. You have educated me today. Thank you for everything.
Keep up the good work.
Had to remove my AR just so the darts didn't keep popping back out again after they were loaded. Swapped the red light for a 3000k led while I was at it.
Capt! Thanks so much for putting out new content for beginner modders like myself who haven't been in the modding game for years like everyone else! I just got into the hobby while xmas shopping for my son and nephew, but everyone is so advanced at this point it's a little overwhelming.. thanks for taking it back to the basics for all us newbs out here!
Thank you captain...this is exactly what my friend (who goes by sparky online) needs
Love the video, can't wait to see where the series goes from here! Thank you for actually mentioning safety in the video as well. Its so important to wear the necessary safety gear and I find its something usually glossed over in a lot of videos like this.
Thank you for all you do. All your content is enjoyed by my household and you have helped me learn to be a better maker and nerfer.
Captain Xavier: the professor of nerf modding
K26 and beyond, Deploy and Vulcan
Not. Getting. The Vulcan.
Great tutorial! Dan outta dan! I love how you lay everything out!
There's a trick I've learned from the Nerf modding Instagram Fam when it comes to making 17/32 and holes akin to that size. It's to run a hand drill in reverse when boring out holes in plastic so that it more-or-less melts away a new diameter in your blaster barrel.
If you're willing to add another tool to the process, Chris Cartaya has also taught me that crowning/chamfering the barrel on the inside of the breech with an x-acto knife helps the dart refrain from snagging on burrs/edges left even after filling/sanding.
Thanks for sharing!
This series seems much better than just K26 testing. Keep up the great work man!
Thus the "and Beyond!" ;)
This is by far the best series that you have done imo. It is very useful to see how various stage upgrades effect performance on blasters. It helps to weigh pros and cons of cost vs performance. Please keep this up with various blasters. Thanks for another helpful videos for us noobs
You can get light strips which replace the diffusers on those Caldwell archery chronographs and allow them to be used inside.
I ordered on Monday. :)
Did you end up chronying it off-camera at all?
Yes...I give the numbers for every iteration in the video...
@@CaptainXavier I find that a cheap Harbour Freight LED flashlight on top of each diffuser works really well.
You are honestly the absolute best for creating this dude, thanks!!!
thank you Sir, been needing to mod my FireStrike and his Sister.
Dead 'clicky' pens can be a good source of catch springs as well.
To brass my snapfire, i filed some teeth into the brass itself and used that to bore out the barrel.
When i was done, I could fold over the teeth the create a dart stop to prevent the dart going into the plunger tube, its a bit of work, but works for a lack of a drill.
...brilliant!
a trick i learned to not press in the tube with the pipecutter: just go around lightly, so the path is marked. then use a dremel. clean, even cut and no need to bend the tube back to size.
Nice Video Captain. I found the K25 and the K26 springs in the Firestrike with decent plunger padding works well, but if it going to get heavy use it breaks the little tabs and posts that hold the plunger tube in place. Have tried to reinforce them to no avail. I found a really good spring option to be a cut down Kronos spring in conjunction with the stock spring. This combo will give you a 150fps Firestrike with a very easy prime weight. It doesn't require extra plunger padding and it doesn't break the posts or tabs for the plunger tube. Food for thought my friend.
Air blaster, which are good to thrift for parts, always see Hornets or ultimate muscle blast or berserkers. So which have mod potential esp since fewer new air blasters are available
having made a brass breech with a hacksaw, a pair of pliers, some wirecutters, and a file recently, absolutely there is no other way to do it than with a dremel, it was miserable and created so, so much drag and friction on the barrel that it requires a large amount of concentrated effort to open the damn thing, just do it with a Dremel.
I really enjoyed this vid! Really informative. This series could could be a great way to introduce younger nerfers and even non nerfers to the basics of mechanical engineering.
I feel like every time you go to a more difficult modification there should be a retro arcade "level up" style sound effect. I'm thinking similar to the sound that plays when mario eats a mushroom and gets bigger.
I needed this year's ago!! Your brilliant. That's why we call you the captain.
Love these vids. Really good for beginners like me expecially the explanations on why you need these tools and what the mod is for.
Great new series Cap! Keep it up ,love ya man!
This is basically an ultimate mod guide and I love it
another amazing tutorial good Sir!!! Verry useful.
You can use trombone slide grease to make the sliding easier
this is great!
just what i was looking for, a way to advance to modding brass breeches!
and posted on Valentines day, awe thank you kind sir. lol
Thank you for the Master Class on Single Barrel Nerf Modding, I can't wait for the next episode. BANGARANG!
I have to ask, is there a a way to make rough cut speedloaders, I know it is through casting and ect, but what about out of found parts?
Added in- BETTER IDEA, ROUGH CUT M1-GARAND CLIPS!!!!
Look at a real steal revolver seed loader, but make it a rectangle instead.
@@commanderwolf_gaming5191 i know, but I wanna know, can you do it out of FOUND PARTS, like tearing other Nerf guns you wouldn't use apart for it
@@stephenross5586 maybe a broke roughcut would work use the front barrel parts... maybe a short spring like a deploy , with maybe something like a plunger rod something short , humm I need to draw this up....
@@commanderwolf_gaming5191 i was thinking moreso Firestrike dart holders
@@stephenross5586 ok I see what you're saying..humm maybe use two of those ,humm with a little tinkering that probably be easier
I just did a spring upgrade on my firestrike b/c this video. I found out the (silver) spring from the “Stampede ECS” nerf blaster improved my fire strikes performance greatly. I combined it with the OG firestrike spring. The only mods I did was remove AR and add stampede spring (silver) and it’s now hitting hard.
The fire strike would make a great afterburner blaster, it even comes with a rev trigger
I enjoy the firestrike. It was the first blaster I ever owned. It was fun. And at the time competitive.
And then they basterdized it with the Elite 2.0 volt.
Love the new series!
Nice! Now I can buy a firestrike and upgrade it!
Great video, captain!
Beautiful Nerf gun Captain by the way good morning
a suggestion for if you're just working with goodwill blasters, the stock spring will double up with the zombie strike crossbow spring very well.
Thanks for the lesson Cap!
Thank you captain. Needing a good guide for mine
interesting idea for a series. i love it!
Great video. Love the format. I should get around to modding my Firestrike eventually. I'm holding off until I figure out how I want it to look. Thought about painting it to resemble a Star Fox blaster, but with a lightish grey instead of black (and keeping the orange parts unpainted).
Hoping the Scorpion wins because I haven't seen many people mod it. I would prefer the Havok Fire (since that's the only belt-fed blaster we have here) but I get that the autospringer mechanism is a less common one and sets it apart from the flywheelers in that list.
Awesome Video,great help. Thank you.
yay! i've been waiting for this
Man I’ve been waiting for a series like this! Thanks cap!!!
Wholesome Video.
nice, looking forward to more, thank you
To K26, and beyond!
How the video make it seem like: if you take a high load spring and put it in a one shot pistol and make a high preforming single shot cannon
How the Captain came up with the idea: lets shove that big spring over there into that cheap pistol that I have 40 of
As a fellow southpaw, I appreciate the changing of design.
Integrate a rayven with a retaliator and replace the slide with a bolt.
I love your videos
It's cathartic to see the K26 winding damaged your plunger rod, too. I just figured I fucked it up.
if you use the worker replacement catch spring for the prophecy/retaliator it will work pretty darn well
I still maintain the option to brass a firestrike without drilling the original barel is easier and safer.
Essentially ignore the original barrel entirely and glue/epoxy/fix the brass into the housing for the AR.
First time my barel ended up wonky so after that I held the brass in the muzzle piece when the epoxy was curing to make sure it lines up! And I use clingfilm as isolation so that it doesnt stick to the shell or any othrr piece that I'm working with
Thank you
After you mod it check out CJ Nerf to learn how to paint it, great day for the Firestrike! Also, how about writing a book on all you know?
Bruh, your hands are poetic!
Fantastic.Need to try the brass breach 1/2 dart...
Very informative enjoyed the vid. Where does he get all those wonderful toys!!!!
This is just what i need a way to mod when you have basically no tools.
Remember when running around with a single fire spring blaster was a genuine competitive play style?
I was actually gonna take the broken sucky SlingStrike thing and weird Ironman nstrike era thing and see what I can do to upgrade my jolt reskins and night finder.
K26 and beyond idea: 300 fps longshot
Wow such great
Great video and an excellent new series. Exactly what I needed to expand my mod knowledge. Definitely will be putting my Firestrike (a goodwill score, of course) through this course of mods.
Voted ECS-10 for next time, as I have one that is currently out of commision and should be perfect for tinkering.
I have a suggestion...
Maybe you could make a similar brass breech for a HotShock....
finally found a use for my broken deploy
Thank you Captain! This was a fantastic walk-through. I loved seeing what difference each change made.
One question for you:
Is it at all useful to brass something like a hammershot, or are you losing so much air from the back that it wouldn't help anything? Or is it possible to get an O-ring or something else back there to improve that seal so it would work?
It can be done but I have not had much luck with it.
Yes
Ooof, that dremel on the brass takes me back to the dentist office when I had a filling. But yes, I approve of this plan, thank you for doing this series so I don't have to :P
Btw, I noticed that you were still using your small rasp, did you lose the big one I sent you a while back or do you just like using the small one?
If the Nerf can speak that thing would say "stop it please and let me get some help"
I would love to see a new intro for this new series like can it take a k26 has you putting a spring in a rapidstrike
Can you do a LongShot next?
I like seeing people that are left handed because im left handed too and i feel like left handed people are rare. Almost everyone i know is right handed
We are rare. Only 1 in 10 people are left handed.
2 years ago today this video was uploaded!
I actually dropped a laser diode in a Firestrike.
Anyone at a Nerf war, fear me.
I'm sad that it wasn't the nightfinder. I reallllly wanted to see cap make an old school NIC Nightfinder Rifle.
Strongarm spring fits over fire strike spring btw
Fantastic video! I watched it to the very end, been considering modding this blaster lately. I do look forward to more videos like this!
Considering your next video will be on flywheel blasters, does that mean you won't be doing Nerf Rewired anymore? (forgive me if you already covered this)
No, I still will from time to time.
@@CaptainXavier Okay, that's cool. My question is what will be the difference from this and Nerf Rewired when it comes to flywheel blasters?
@@df6695 Nerf rewired will always be a full rewire and won't include the early simple options.
K26 centurion
happy valentines day
Very well done video, can you please do one for the Slingfire one day?
Much appreciated Captain. Really good video teaching wise.
I would like to see (sometime in the future) a video in this style for the Longshot or the Rapidstrike though the latter is not Spring powered.
1:00 Chosen by us ah? Well if I had to choose one, I would choose Tyr.
Based on a survey...that is in the video description...
I modded my fire strike by taking the air restrictor and the piece that was holding it in place
that spring looks like a maverick spring but im not sure
Do this with the rapidstrike
Nice video. I just got back into modding. I’m just wondering, where do you get the k26?
Also you should do the hammershot, it’s the blaster I’m currently working on and I’m wondering what I can do to it.
OutofDarts.com
I will put the hammershot on the survey when I call for revolvers.
Thank you very much. That helps me more than you know.
This is great. Unpopular opinion but can you do the sledgefire
