Original is the best. But these tries of new versions are interesting to see and helps to introduce the Hu to more people. Original version shows really power and strength, also spiritual power at the same time, like a mantra. But this version shows more energy and power, not the spirital things. 2 different ways of the song.
Apparently its for an upcomming movie . also papa roach style is not what i generally listen to but i can appreciate it because he speaks to people that could be in a hard place and it can help them out so i respect him and his music for that. the wolf totem is about the "tribe" and how everyone should have eachothers backs and how we will all fight together. in a sense papa roach also sings about stuff like your not alone and also has the band together we got your back vibe to it. in essence, Jacoby is translating the Mongolian song into English. it makes it can make it more powerful to some people. it also brings the message that these 2 different kinds of people with different styles can come together for a similar message, and i think its great. Another thing that i can appreciate is that they managed to mix 2 very different styles of singing and 2 very different voices into the same song and have it sound good, make it flow the way it does. if you dont listen to the words but just the flow and transitions, feel how smooth it is, you may be able to appreciate it just for that. sure it may not be a lyrical masterpiece but the way it was put together puts it on a high tear for me. its rare to see such different styles all in one song and even if you dont like the words or think it makes the wolf totem song "not as cool" i think you can still appreciate the melody and just the flow of the whole thing. im sure it was not an easy feat so i really liked it. i cant say i liked one or the other more as i kinda see them as 2 different songs.
I want more like this. I want more artists to throw caution to the wind and say what the hell man... lets try it out. Music lately, to me anyway, has been stuck in a rut since the start of the 2000's. Nothing really groundbreaking has been done so it is time for fresh ideas and out of the box thinking. Lets just mix it all up and see what happens. How about traditional Japanese and African drums mixed with American and Viking metal? Who knows it may just be the freaking baddest sound on the block or it may sound like rubbish. Nobody will know until they are willing to try it.
Like this version. Very unique and creative. Of course original one is better. East meets west and finally mixed together doesn't give me awkward feeling. When I heard this first I was like wow
See I like this one. I heard it first and like that I can understand the words. Now I like the original too it's more......primal....yeah primal. If I spoke Mongolian it'd probably be the main version I listen to. They both make me feel lime getting stuff done with gusto😃
this colab couldn't be more perfect. the idea was to put 2 different worlds together. seems like most are missing the idea. this is where the east meets the west from traditional to modern. its supposed to express our differences in culture and how we can be together.
I thought exactly the same, so I totally agree with you. I suppose is a kind of way to more people now know about that THE HU exists. I personally think they don't need it. HU HU HU HU HU HU HU 💜
I think the exact same they really don't need it since they can hold their own entirely in their own right. They just want to be exposed to more people who would not otherwise ever hear them any other way because way too many people have a cow with any language other than English being used when music does not have to be so ethnocentric as far as language used and it does not need to be a barrier to any band.
To me with the original, I was always waiting for them to rock out but never did. To me this is great but I also grew up to papa roach but absolutely love this colab. But the original will always be an awesome song.
Like you, I was blown away by The HU and their style of music. It seems like the collaboration is too soon. However, it does have some value to present The HU to people that haven't heard them before. Maybe that is the intent? Still kind of catchy to my ears, but prefer The HU as a stand alone band
Two cultures don't have to match, they just have to work. I don't care what some say I think this is a nice mismatch of talent. yeah if you compare it to the other it's not going to sit with you well. That's why to have an opinion it's best to go in without bias.
I thought this and their other songs didn't really need other people to sell this band. I prefer the original myself. This is to get them more visibility and exposure to people who only listen to people who only make it a habit to sing in English.
It grows on you trust me. I didn't like it at first but now.... it's not so bad. The only thing I can say about this is the old saying "fortune favours the bold". Mongolians aren't known for being subtle or sneaking around. They rush into everything. You don't have victory unless you try right? I applaud them for giving this a go. Besides, now that we know there is at least some compatibility between Mongolian and English in regards to music, hey this could be the start of something freaking huge.
Hello!! I was absolutely sure that you'll do a reaction of this song when I saw this was released in friday😂.. I find this VERY interesting and I actually have to say that I've listen the original version only like three or four times on purpose and I'm not sure why it has never get my attention SO much because I love many of their other songs🤔.. that is just a bit lame to me😬... BUT THIS!!!! I think I have listen this like ten times already and I think, even this combination completely changes the cool unigue original style they have into more "mainstream" like, STILL☝️, this is SO great🤘🤘.. I like especially the "battle" between them in the beginning and his voice fits (to me) perfectly to this song! Also the part when he sings and they "crowl" on the backround sounds SO great!! Also the video is great and how they perform and kind a sing against each others!! Maybe just s bit too modern video in a way and maybe I missed some scenes like in other videos so it truly would have been "two worlds collide"🤘.. but still great👌 Cool song everyway🤘Not sure what I'd think if they've done this kind of mix of some of my favourite songs of them🤔.. then I think I'd understand your point!! I mean I understand it now ofcourse😂😂😂.. but this time I disagree with you about this one😅..heh😂.. Thanks, catch you later👍
I agree it didn't work for me either. The clash of worlds was too odd and it took away some of the power and emotions of the original Wolf Totem song. I really hope that HU takes great consideration in who they collab with, I don't want any band trying to ride on the coattails of their success. I would love to see another band try to pair up with Hu, perhaps like Till from Rammstein or Heilung.
They already did one with From Ashes To New and another one with Lizzie Hale and they plan to do more with other people too. They have said so and that they were looking to.
Check out their record labels channel, Jacoby has been jumping from one to another trying to stay relevant. If bet they got a good deal for this. Still love the HU
I do like it, actually. I mean this version is heavier in terms of instruments, but it loses its distinctive feeling from the original version. That’s it. Shaddix’s doesn’t feel out of place in my opinion.
I don't like this version much, either. As an American I feel it is trying to "Americanize" it. But I do like Jacoby's voice. Please keep your honesty. I really enjoy your reactions.
I think it's an interesting project with the combination of music for a different version, though I don't think it was the best choice of combination. The body language of the english singer wasn't to my liking and I think Wolf Totem would have fitted mixing with a singer with a deeper voice better. Would probably have been more interesting had they mixed with another folk metal band. Now I start wondering how mongolian throat singing would sound when mixed with growling(though i don't like growling for singing i like it when used as an effect) The drums being indoors had a bit of an echo sound to them or maybe theres an additional set of drums. Overall the Original wolf totem was better, but an interesting version
Agree with you. I think it’s cool but lost it’s rawness. More of studio thing. Need some time to digest it. Different feeling than the first time listening to the original
ok, this is the moment you (me in this case), going to loose one of the favorite bands... they are going to fu.. up in a big way from now on probably! The greatness was in their difference. Like this is just a ... good song, nothing more
This version adds absolutely nothing to the song. No need for it, it doesn't fit at all, it's some kind of shitty cringey stadium-rock type voice plastered over the top of a great song.
Fair reaction. Thanks for your honesty.
I understand his view, but then its amazing to see to metal cultures come together and create, and be part of something so amazing,FUCKING LOVED IT!!!
This song is fantastic. I love the East meets West! Love the original. Love this version.
I love this collaboration. Ive always like seeing different music styles mixing

Yes, I understand what you trying to say. It really gives totally different vibe. I like your reactions, because you always very honest about it.
SNU HHA
I LOVE the Hu and I love this song. I like all of their music so far. They are fascinating.

Love their collaboration

I like it so far. It is new.
The Hu❤️
Love your honesty and reactions. Please, do a reaction on their "Legend of the mother swan"
To me with the original, I was always waiting for them to rock out but never did. To me this is great but I also grew up to papa roach but absolutely love this colab. But the original will always be an awesome song.
I thought it was really awesome. It makes it different and different is awesome. I really like both
Like you, I was blown away by The HU and their style of music. It seems like the collaboration is too soon. However, it does have some value to present The HU to people that haven't heard them before. Maybe that is the intent? Still kind of catchy to my ears, but prefer The HU as a stand alone band

I absolutely love the Original version not really a fan of Pappa Roach but this wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.
I agree. I love the original as well. This version diluted it. Feel like Jacoby substitute for subtitles.
True 👍

You're probably the type that wouldn't like the supergroup Hellyeah. Let's see. Check out Oh my god or Black flag army

I hope this will be the last, they just ruined the song. It just doesn't fit.
Pleaseeee your opinion about The Great Ghinggis Khaan from The HU. Subtitled. I LOVE YHU !!!!

I think they made it better actually.
