The sound engineer deserves a medal for this.
Yes! Everyone behind the scenes producing a video of such amazing quality deserves accolades.
I doubted it for a second and then I thought, "how do you capture this performance in an open air setting like this?" It really is an engineering feat.

Only issue I can hear is the vertical alignment on the main vocalist towards the end, but that could also just be a consequence of the audience not being directly in front of the performers.

A testament to how far we've come since WWII. To think we'd see The Band of His Majesties Royal Marines play Hans Zimmer.
As German, I feel so incredibly humbled by the performance. I'm simply in complete awe for lack of a better word. Thank you so much for that performance.

Royal Marines; soldiers first, musicians second. This is testimony to the quality of those Marines.
They are separate. The musicians are not commandos, but they do have a non combatant war role as stretcher barerers

I have experienced a live Hans Zimmer concert, I have to say I was blown away. When it came to this particular song I cried. Lisa Gerrards voice was beyond amazing. It was the best Mother's day gift my daughter ever gave me.
Lisa Gerrards- I been to most of her concerts with Dead Can Dance. Very nice way to spend a destination when you need that push.

this is beyond incredible. Not only did they do Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard proud, they elevated this entire experience with the Milltary composition that echoes the warriors in Rome at the time. Beautifully rendered and the voice of the lead vocalist is amazing. Bravo to all!

Great Britain of today can trace its history to the Roman Empire and todays Empire, the United States even though it doesn't like that label can trace its history to the British Empire.
They all fought each at one point but civilizations with similar but evolving values.

I came straight out of the theatre after seeing this movie and bought the soundtrack. This does justice to it.
WOW! Gladiator is my all time favourite film. This rendition of Hans Zimmer's music is on another level. The music, the setting, and the precision - incredible.
Its amazing, yes but have you seen Movie of the Greatest Master Sergio Leone and how music from the Greatest Master Ennio Morricone is ?!?!
Did you know that Zimmer actually uses Morricone as his inspiration for getting into music in the first place. Both are masters with their own unique styles.

Die Kompositionen von Hans Zimmer rührt mich immer und immer wieder zur Gänsehaut und zu Tränen. Und auch wie es hier von der Royal Marines vorgetragen wurde, einfach nur perfekt 😍. Wäre ich gerne dabei gewesen. Dieses Lied habe ich zu meiner Frau Ihrer Beerdigung gespielt und auch deswegen berührt es mich immer noch sehr. 😢

Erst einmal, mein herzliches Beileid.
Und ja, Hans Zimmer ist so ein genialer Komponist. Der Gladiatorsoundtrack begleitet mich seit meiner Kindheit als ich den Film noch nicht sehen durfte. Er war damals schon für mich immer fantastisch anzuhören. Heute als Erwachsener ist es für mich der beste Filmsoundtrack der je gemacht wurde.

I suggest searching for The Mountbatten Festival of Music on here and marvel at not only LCpl Smithers, but the phenomenal Cpl Sam McIndoe, who performs what is the seminal version of Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms.

This is arguably the best performance of this music from the film Gladiator. To be able to play at this level as well as marching - just fabulous to watch. The young lady who sings has a wonderful voice.
LCpl Hannah Smither is the young lady, and she's done some excellent vocal pieces with the Bands of HM Royal Marines of late. And you're quite right, I would support your argument for this being the best performance of Zimmer's score.
This is why their called Our Royal Marines ,,unbeatable a credit to our Country

God! Every time I watch it, it feels even better. It brings a tear to my eye every time. I am not British but that is an amazing example of what human society can create, pure heavenly magic! Although the band is military based the freedom they have as a not for profit, without political or religious interference is the best example of what humans, people in a free democratic society can create. You 100% will never se that in an autocratic society or dictatorship. That is freedom and people at their best, Brilliant!

Oh WOW, Not only was that an epic piece of music, but you made that yours as well.
What I also noticed, was the girl that sung solo, you could see that she was very much into it. Very moved, the looks on her face, she was part of Gladiator.
And now I have to rewatch this film again now, for about the 26th time.

Gladiator was released in 2000, 23 years later, its soundtrack is still one of the best.

Absolute perfection - a wonderful arrangement and an exquisite performance of this epic theme tune. Matched by no other! May I add that my husband's father was in the Royal Marines and was an accomplished musician and a prisoner of war captured in Crete and ultimately held in Austria, he would have absolutely loved this. He played the church organ for our services before WWII and his son, my husband David plays now and has done for over 40 years.

I'm a Taiwanese soldier, this song hits me very different now that my country is on the edge of going to war with China.
I watched Gladiator when I was little, didn't understand much of the movie. Now that I have a family and my own home, I know why Maximus did what he did.
It's not an easy decision, but not defending for my country is far worse than being rule by CCP. I love Chinese people but hate their government.
I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way, it seems like a complete global war is inevitable afterall. I pray that this war doesn't come. If it does, let all the weeds get burn off, so that we can start a new world with unity.

i am retired welsh guards . these musicians are the best trained in the world . i had the honour to spend 1 month in the old deal school of music back in the 80s . far better trained than kneller hall .
