HI Rob, just a little bit of advice when you lay the vinyl floor, use a hook blade in your stanley knife, you'll have much
more control than with a straight blade. Also, make sure you have the lines in the vinyl perfectly lined up with the
side cabinets, because with the long narrow walkway, if its a fraction out, it won't look good! (ex-carpet/vinyl fitter).

The reason tens of thousands of us love you channel and videos, is because of your honesty, you could have easily cut out the section when Chris found the awning mechanism was user error. Which was hilarious. 😂🤣And your videos have such diverse elements and different, which is so unique. the vinyl flooring colour is spot on, and it will make the camper look much longer owing to the way the timber plank pattern is laid, perfect Rob keep them coming.

  • @alexadrianmanifold7899

Great video lads. But I disagree with the comments about the awning mistake. How is that a mistake. A mistake is when you have the knowledge but fail to apply it. We're always learning. Keep them video's coming boys.

Well I mega enjoyed this, and this is the 2nd time viewing it. You are turning it from a Cinderella into a Princess. What with your buying skills and Chris expertise your doing great. I think this one is going to be better than the first one you sold at Co Part. With your attention to detail. Just to say at our caravan we have Fly Blinds on all windows and door. Also aluminium looking pull down blinds . The Mosquito 🦟 blinds keep the direct sun out. Also we have tied back curtains which we don’t use, just for decorative purposes. We also put a nice matching flooring down and it transformed it. But we still need the runner we bought from Aldi. We put a bathroom type vinyl flooring in the shower room. And it’s just made it so much nicer. Did you mention the Cassette I can’t remember. It’s going to look a spanker by the time you have finished . I would just put the fly screen up at the back window until you can replace it, or mend it . And the awning working is just the icing on the cake. You have done well lads .

I know I suggested carpet tiles but I think you made the right choice thinking about how much footfall there will be. Well done to Chris on sorting that lock, everything is now secure. There wasn't too much waffle Rob, you were thinking out loud mate. 😁 Thanks Rob and Chris for another installment on the motor home it was enjoyable.👍👍

The flooring is not necessarily my choice of colour but it is most definitely a good choice for that van! A good buy I think. As for the washroom door, that damage most likely comes from the steam when it is used as a shower. I would suggest to glue a suitably coloured splashback board to the back of it, which will also help to tidy up the back side of it and help to strengthen it a little. I knew about the awning and was shouting "pull it down" at the screen repetitively, but it was all good as it gave me a good chuckle as Chris informed you that it was 'user error'. Naturally, I made the same mistake until I was told how to use it, so you are not the first and won't be the last to do this! Anyway, it needed greasing so all's well that ends well!

  • @mentalneil
    @mentalneil 2 года назад +1

Rob you don't have to remove the bench seats to lay the flooring, if you can cut the original around the edges and remove it intact you should be able to use the old flooring as a template to cut the new, then just glue it in place, if you want some help just shout, I'm only in Chatham

Many years ago at the age of 49 I was facing redundancy but if I managed to reach 50 with the company , I could also retire on a generous NON contributory final salary pension. The catch was the temporary job I was offered was on the other side of the country. I couldn't afford to rent a house so I bought an old 5 berth Abbey Lancaster caravan. I found a site that would allow me stay for a full year at very reasonable rates. The interior was tatty so I did a refurbishment to make into a comfortable 1 berth. Whilst on holiday we visited a boot sale and found a huge stack of heavy duty material in perfect colours for the van. The material was originally curtains in a large restaurant and was faded in parts. It cost us a whole £10.00. My wife was an excellent seamstress and made new curtains, pelmets, seat covers, tie backs and even 2 duvet covers with loads left over. The best £10.00 we ever spent.

Fascinating. Admire your transparency and 'can do' attitude. Some years back with my Father in law's help, we did up a tired (& damp / rotten) old ABI. Our local caravan dealer in Cheadle was really helpful for locks, replacement a handbasin, a roof light (we lost that on the M62!) & a spare wheel. Biggest transformation ever was the self adhesive strip set we got from them to hide the damaged front panel. Thank you NW Caravans.

Don't be embarrassed, Rob. Every day is a school day.
Went to buy a series Land Rover years ago. I put it in 4wd to make sure it was all working, but it just didn't feel like it was in.I got out, looked underneath - no, everything was looking OK. But it was definitely NOT in 4wd. Got out and stared at the front wheels, wracking my brains as to what the problem could be. Then, I turned to the seller and said, "it's not working in 4wd, do you know what the problem might be ?" (thinking the front half-shafts may have been removed.) "The Free-wheel hubs aren't locked" came the reply. The best part being that the free-wheel hubs were one of the first things I'd mentioned before the test drive and I'd been "educating" him on Land Rovers as this was the first one he had and said he basically knew nothing about them, bought this one on a whim and hated how agricultural it was which was why it was for sale !!!

Rob cut out the Lino with a Stanley knife around the locker bases and bed boxes on the outside etc .
Then use that as a template to cut the new Lino but add a couple of centimetres to make it bigger all round and tuck it under the bed boxes and wardrobe etc.
You should be able to undo the screws holding the furniture to the floor and push it under.
It doesn’t matter about the different Lino’s as you won’t see the inside the bases anyway. Plus they are a similar colour .

Like the 'plank' look of the soft vinyl flooring!! A quick tip from when we removed vinyl tiles from a concrete floor in our kitchen, that glue is a b*tch - instead of coming up in strips, it was breaking into pieces. I laughed when the wife said to run a medium to hot iron over it first, but that did the trick by softening the glue first so that they did come up in strips. I used a 6" heavy duty scraper ( Screwfix item 87299 ) which worked a treat. Good luck and great job so far.

With the Bathroom door I would have removed it from the van and then stripped the door back to its component parts to then re glue it, as the joints are probably quite weak, and made new bits of trim to hold the panel in place. If you are screwing into wood near the edge you need to pilot drill it to stop it from splitting. You should be able to get most door lock components, it is just trying to find the right ones that is a bugger. I have had to do similar with my own Motorhomes, Found out recently that the front indicator units are the same as a mk2 Golf. Sadly I could find Clear ones that were not same thing like £80 from the States. Shame but the ones I fitted as I keep having the bulbs come loose as they only had effectively one screw holding them in and they'd vibrate loose.

Flooring will look fresh without clashing, good choice. Gonna be a nice van when all the snagging has been done.

I would change the cushions to more neutral colour and a bit more modern and paint the wood .

That was not a mistake, that was an awning drive, grease and service. The flooring was a good choice, the lines will enhance the feeling of space, the style is right on trend and the colour is perfect, with no risk of a clash. There is a host of little 'bitty' issues, none are huge, but they all take time, five minutes here, two hours searching there, but mean another step along the progress chart. It is a sound idea to get the inside cleaned out before you put the great new stuff in place. Keep on carrying on, and get it right up to standard before you pass it on.

One thing leads to another, that's how it always is when I'm trying to get something done, lol But, it's all getting done, and it's going to be fabulous. Thanks for sharing. Be well.

Oh and if all else fails you could always read the instructions!
Cheers, and keep up the great work. Peter.

Carpeting is going to be a bugger to keep clean - Hardwood flooring that matches the cabinets will be so much easier to take care of. A quick sweep or damp mop to remove dirt or mud,

They actually bought a roll of lino, which should be even easier to keep clean. And in case anyone wants to, they could always add mats or rugs.

Hi Rob, if you go on Ebay you can pick up new LPG gas stickers for a few pounds. Remove old, fit the new ones and they will freshen up that door no end once the tape residue has gone.
