"Above my paygrade Sir".... Well said. Jake was/is a beast, and it's really a shame that he didn't land in a better spot, as it seemed like unfortunate times struck him over and over. One of my favs on the axe, and deserves more recognition.
Coming in a bit late, anyway. As a guitarist myself, I get the vulnerability of sitting down and working out songs in front of someone. I used to teach Guitar back when I was in high school, and dudes and dude'ets would bring in material that I had to breakdown and then show them in a 30-minute time frame. Most of the time, it would be pretty straight forward, but those times someone would bring in the goods, it was panic time lol. I respect you putting yourself out there doing what is, for a lot of guitarists, the epic pulling down your pants on stage. BTW, Jake is one of my favorites of all time.
I actually prefer his drumming on this to Eric Singer’s on the debut. He’s very open and is kind of a combo of Keith Moon and Bonham. Crazy that his drumming has swing but his vocals are super technical Halford-ish.

Badlands is impossible to deny inspire of Ray doing unconscionable shit. Jake E Lee sat in gold after getting fired from Ozzy, he became a damned dragon!
i was a randy rhoads freak, and zakk wilde fan, with oz as well as quiet riot, pride and glory and a bit less black label society... moment i saw jake with ozzy videos and his live full solos i forgot the other two. jake is radical, traditional music player blues oriented and stuff as a composer but as a guitarist hes like no one... and after seeing badlands highwire live footage i forgot about ozzy for good. badlands was the best non 70s era rock and roll band yet very 70s r n r based btw. jake made me forget great players first time i checked his playing. and i cant get tired of his music, hes never forgotten master since first time digging his music. red dragon cartel is pretty awesome, patina is greatest r n r record on this era imho. they know how to make rock not hits, fuck what music has become since many, myself included dont take the style further, red dragon cartel does, as badlands did. miss ray. jake rules supreme
a forgotten master, pretty much unfair, could be paul kossof or even lenny breau, quite a damn shame, but jake to be fair has enjoyed success and a premature legend status bc he deserved despite all he had to endure, and most important hes a very very beloved guitarist by anyone who loves his music. he isnt a forgotten master at all
I knew I had that ass!!! You asked who the drummer was. The drummer for the Voodoo Highway and Dusk albums was Jeff Martin, who was also the singer for Racer X. No shredding there.
Just subscribed. REALLY enjoyed your reaction to one of my favorite bands. You should go down the rabbit hole of the first two albums. Hard and funky!
Jeff Martin on drums. Yes the singer from Racer X.
I actually prefer his drumming on this to Eric Singer’s on the debut. He’s very open and is kind of a combo of Keith Moon and Bonham. Crazy that his drumming has swing but his vocals are super technical Halford-ish.
If you like Jeff's drumming, look for a bootleg from the two tours after Eric left and you can hear him playing songs from the first album.
@@raymondlugo9960 Thanks! will check it out. I’m a drummer so I love his busy style. Also Eric’s drums always sounded too dry for me. I have MP3’s of their other work so listen often.
@@steve.hoffman He plays awesome also on few Paul Gilbert's records, like Alligator Farm for example.
I love watching you brother..You started off with this intense look of "I got this"then quickly it turned to almost a face of fear when you realized you thought he said Jason Lee Not Jake E Lee!!..
Love to see a cold approach to an old metal song you once had difficulty with back in the day. Nice work as always! 🤘🏼
You definitely should check out Whiskey Dust by them. Jake is awesome plus Greg Chaisson is a MONSTER on the bass guitar!! Loved this band and their 70s sound 🤘🤘🤘
He didn't use a bar. He detuned and back up with a peg in real time. Saw him do it live. Fucking monster.
Spafford has a text message line to the band and fans. I took a shot and told them to check you out. Saw them on Facebook sharing your video! I'm sure I'm not the only one that messaged but hey we're doing it together!!!
He's coming for you, Hide your wife, hide your kids! Awesome stuff, the rest of the 90's band just hung it up and went home. I don't know how I missed this one. Adding it to the collection, if they bitch you can let them know you sold an album for them. You know for education. Rock On!
Time for a drop pedal. Finally broke down and bought one, kick myself for not doing it sooner. Cheers.
Thank you for being you! You are the guitarist that I wanted to be when I grew up (55 years old - never made it {but I collected 17 guitars; gave several away - spread the love}). Keep making videos! You win, sir!!
P.S. Your video about scammers is playing a positive role in my best friend's life - she's trying to stop her mom from getting scammed - again. THANK YOU!! Great Job!! LOVE YOU!!
P.P.S. I recently started using two exclamation points because a person who accidentally became an e-mail friend of Edward Van Halen said that Edward oddly always used two instead of the more common one or three. - - J
A fine pink mist by Jake E Lee. Check it out.
Saw Badlands live in concert in Indy. Thank you for streaming.
Jake always throws in those not-so-subtle fills. Brilliant guitar player.
Jake does not use a whammy bar either.
Wayne Charvel was a frequent customer of shop I managed in Paradise, CA, used to come in at least once a week. Was slow one day, had Bark at the moon video playing on the shop TV, Wayne comes in looks up at the screen, sees Jake with his white Charvel, says nothing. I said, hey Wayne that's Jake E Lee with one of your guitars, he just nodded his head, then changed the subject, lol. Guess he wasn't as stoked as I was.
Love how you dissected jake on this song...your expressions were hilarious
Made me subscribe!
There is a touch of Tommy Bolin in there. Jake was a fan.
So glad I got to see Jake on the Ultimate Sin Tour with Ozzy in 85.
This album is in my Top 10 NOSTALGIC albums of my life.
"You've got to be shittin' me".
I wish Jake could see this!
Wouldn't it be cool if Jake E. Lee himself commented on this video?! 😲
Yeah
BRO HE DOES IT WITH THE STRING AT THE HEAD
BEYOND THE NECK
One of my favorite albums. I hear a lot of James Gang in this tune
Badlands is impossible to deny inspire of Ray doing unconscionable shit. Jake E Lee sat in gold after getting fired from Ozzy, he became a damned dragon!
Your doing joe rogan " I was talking to my buddy"
Your lucky!!
I cannot grasp how one goes from metal to country....still stuck in metal at 59...🥰😅
I really enjoyed this video. I smiled almost the whole video. It made me want to pick up my guitar again.
Forgot how good it was even though I remember it being underrated at the time.
Jake, the forgotten master!
i was a randy rhoads freak, and zakk wilde fan, with oz as well as quiet riot, pride and glory and a bit less black label society... moment i saw jake with ozzy videos and his live full solos i forgot the other two. jake is radical, traditional music player blues oriented and stuff as a composer but as a guitarist hes like no one... and after seeing badlands highwire live footage i forgot about ozzy for good. badlands was the best non 70s era rock and roll band yet very 70s r n r based btw. jake made me forget great players first time i checked his playing. and i cant get tired of his music, hes never forgotten master since first time digging his music. red dragon cartel is pretty awesome, patina is greatest r n r record on this era imho. they know how to make rock not hits, fuck what music has become since many, myself included dont take the style further, red dragon cartel does, as badlands did. miss ray. jake rules supreme
a forgotten master, pretty much unfair, could be paul kossof or even lenny breau, quite a damn shame, but jake to be fair has enjoyed success and a premature legend status bc he deserved despite all he had to endure, and most important hes a very very beloved guitarist by anyone who loves his music. he isnt a forgotten master at all
THANKS WHAT ARE YOUR EFFETS
My favourite Ozzy guitarist....yep
OK, I'm a drummer and this is so good, it makes me want to jam.
Fingers and neck bends....never seen Jake use a bar. Blew my mind seeing Badlands in concert around '89.
I'm watching this whole thing again... :) Can you go over another Badlands song from each of the other albums?
tuning the guitar i always go under the notes and then bring it back up slightly to avoid it slipping and lowering pitch
I knew I had that ass!!! You asked who the drummer was. The drummer for the Voodoo Highway and Dusk albums was Jeff Martin, who was also the singer for Racer X. No shredding there. I always loved Jake's rhythm playing, but this solo is my favorite of his. To me, this has a little bit of VH and John Sykes to it. I'll spare you this time on John Sykes. I love playing with great guitar players and I've had the privilege of playing with some great one's. You're in my top 5.
Love you boo
Love these. when you struggle its the best. some Paul gilbert would be awesome, his newer stuff where he thinks hes clapton. I cant make requests but he has one called "Vibrato" and its saucy. keep it up.
This Has Got To Be My All Time Fav🔥🤘👊🏻💜🎶
